Filian also mocked the murder of George Floyd and refused to remove an actual groomer/sexual predator from one of her events
And tons of big EN vtubers support her and do collabs with her all the time like it doesn't fucking matter lmao
The whole Trans Pumpkin Discourse is wild to me. Cis women have been openly joking about cucumbers for at decades at least, and 🍆 is a ubiquitous euphemism for dick.
There is no possibly explanation other than people being openly disgusted by trans women’s sexuality.
Real talk tall girls are one of, if not THE most oppressed demographics in the world.
Almost every tall girl I encounter hates being tall despite every girl whose shorter than her immediately simping.
That our tall sisters can never be convinced of their beauty is a crime.
@IGN
I'm the biggest defender of the sequels I know but oh my god, just turn if off. It's done. You don't have to fix it. You CAN'T fix it. Tweets and novelizations don't change what that movie was.
Let the past die. Kill it if you have to.
Anglosphere vtubers are honestly just the most disappointing people on the planet, I don't know how this specific kind of online content became the repository for the most pathetic, spineless, and willfully ignorant people you could imagine
@biggestjoel
@lackingsaint
Peter saw a man assault someone and his immediate response is "clearly it was that evil woman's fault"
What in the actual fuck
Finding out her model is basically stolen is just like...
Yeah, of course. Of course it is.
This is also like the least important of her failings, and if this is the one thing she actually sees consequences for that's actually just fucking pathetic

@SenSanders
I would support any plan to reimburse for paid off debt but wanting millions of people to suffer because you personally don’t benefit is insane.

Literally any time I hear a Lovecraft fan talking about him they're analyzing the racism and bigotry that runs through all his stories, it's pretty rad
@shaun_jen
Trump could shoot a congressperson in the middle of the street and Nancy Pelosi would urge the dead congressperson to reach across the aisle.
@CaseyExplosion
Ben Shapiro can literally say Arabs deserve to be bombed into oblivion and houses built over their graves and some people can only think to respond with, "Yeah, we'll you're short!"
Like wtf is am I supposed to think about somebody who does that.
@miabyte
I’m always bewildered trying to figure out wtf their thought process is
He calls the ability to pick your pronouns “gender ambiguity” - but choosing your pronouns makes your gender *less* ambiguous
Does he thinks “pronouns” refers to anything that *isnt* he or she?
@AlwaysFlacko
Like I can understand being totally blindsided by it, or worrying how quietly changing it might be perceived. But it's been 2 YEARS and she still blocks people for mentioning it. At some point I feel like you have to at least remove the guy's name and face.
The thing that endlessly fascinates me about vtubers is that I have no idea what the throughline is between "streams with a mocapped avatar" and "is somehow even worse than a regular streamer"
We'll figure out dark matter before we figure out this lmao
@CaudilloUIt
@TheEpicDept
That head is trying for three angles at once. It's like when you look at the textures for a game's character models and see some dude's face unwrapped in a png.
I don’t think harassing or “bullying” her would solve the issue (in fact I think creators tend to double down when you do that)
Rather anybody with a scrap of decency should stop associating with her and make her persona non grata in your communities
@briebriejoy
The protests didn't even EXIST until after George Floyd died. literally rejecting causality to blame black people for their own oppression.
The same with anybody who does something similar, and anybody who associates with them. Just stop collaborating and hanging out with them.
Speaking out would also be huge, but makes your a target. Pick your battles.
Really “speaking out” is for bigger accounts with platforms. They do it when it’s safe, but need to do it when it *counts* more.
Smaller accounts need to keep their heads down or organize to protect themselves, because no big vtuber EVER does anything to reel in their followers.
How horribly does society have to treat the Tall Girl for her to never accept the words of her sisters that she is beautiful and desirable and that we all want to climb her like an evergreen? Like a horde of goblins scrabbling to climb the Mount Everest of Love that is She?
DIVINE ENGINE ANCESTOR
Finally done with this one. Kind of a struggle, but hey I managed to get it done before the holidays. Quite tired at the moment so Lancer OC lore dump later.
It's hard to imagine that just a few months ago I was totally isolated. I had zero human contact outside of my parents and therapist. I had nothing.
Then somehow I found all these people who were trans and gay and nonbinary, and they were all writers and had good politics.
@LewdHD
Like if our smartphones aren’t within arms reach 24/7 we feel anxious, but attach the smartphone to your head and NOW the relationship is weird? It’s so superficial and ignores how ubiquitous and invasive it already is.
@JVorheesss
@EliErlick
“If you think enslavement for giving trans people healthcare is wrong why did you illegally give trans people healthcare care?”
Bud this is isn’t just consistent, this hyper omega consistent, in what possible universe is this a gotcha?

@dkarrow
Right, so anybody who isn't a legal scholar doing a close examination of evidentiary doesn't have anything valid to say.
Then why are you saying anything, Glenn?
The current conception of "lore" is a post-Soulslike invention. Before Dark Souls, the word "lore" was not in my everyday vocabulary. When I was in a masters-level writing program with published authors, the word "lore" was never once uttered in a workshop.
@LewdHD
Also we’re always fantasizing about making ourselves better with tech and then there’s this weird realm of scifi if that’s all “Oh, your tech TOUCHES you? THATS TOO MUCH MAN.” Meanwhile actual humans willingly live inside a web of smart tech that knows more about us than we do.
If I had ever broached the subject of lore to the writers in my workshop, the immediately response would have been, "What do you mean by that?"
Followed shortly by "Oh, so it's just like, background stuff?"
@benjanun_s
“How dare you call fujos terfs, I’ve been a fujo for years and never even met a terf!!
A random terf stumbling in, dazed and disheveled: “Hey uh, is this the meeting place for the TERF-Fujo Alliance?”
I'll break it down Barney style.
"Story" is everything that happens in the text. "Plot" is the causal chain of events that drive the story forward. The distinction is not always clear or even necessary to make, but it is frequently helpful.
Well this exploded overnight.
Hey if you’d like, read chap 1 of my SF story “The Second Woden Expedition” on Scribblehub! A team of explorers investigate an abandoned colony world only to find it was never really abandoned at all, and whatever’s there doesn’t want them around.
[LOUD SWEATING]
I'm making my first post on Scribblehub. This is a story I began some time ago (before the Plague Years began), but had to shelve for a long time. I've always wanted to revisit it, so I'm starting here.
Please let me know what you think.
So let me take a moment to define some terms, with the understanding that this is coming from an academic background. These are from classes and discussions at a university, both undergraduate and graduate, with faculty who had all published multiple books.
@Faerynnistired
@ClaireSomeday
I've met people of all genders who have gone through exactly this. Just assuming they're straight and no ability to question it.
For guys it's often meant constantly pursuing women sexually despite feeling no pleasure or even actively hating it. Because it's "what guys do."
Then one day while talking to a writer working on the story for a game (one some of you might have actually heard of), in discussing their writing style, made a distinction between "background" and "lore." Up until that point, "lore" was just a synonym mostly used by Gamers.
"Setting" has two meaning. The most common meaning in this environment was the time and place that the story itself takes place in. It is something contained mostly within the text itself. It is both explicit and implied. "Worldbuilding" is the construction of that setting.
But "setting" can also mean the broader world or "universe" that a story takes place in, which may be almost entirely outside the text. Lots of writers, especially in SF/F, put multiple stories in the same universe. Most of my stories are in the same universe.
But when pressed to explain the difference, they sort of... couldn't. The relationship between "background", "setting", and "lore" was hard to untangle, but it was clear that they - and many others - felt the distinction was there.

Shaun made a comment about the Democrats' unwillingness to resist anything Trump does, and somehow you read something about how Shaun thinks covid-19 and police brutality are funny?
I'm 90% sure you're just some 4channer trying to stir up drama to own the libs.
"A fact machine with no personality" is a beautifully concise way to put it. The Dark Souls-era lore hunt has decayed into this sort of rote, mechanistic input-store-output expectation for stories.
Audiences have become consumers in every sense of the word. They are machines that consume, store, and regurgitate lore, and media is expected to be the trough from which they feed.
It's all very... Depressing.
9S - confused egg, in servitude to YoRHa
2B - idealized woman he secretly wants *to be*, kept at distance, also in servitude
A2 - liberated woman, free of servitude, blamed for loss of 2B
YoRHa - bodies in bondage to “mankind”
Adam/Eve - various forms of threatening masculinity
That is not to say these meanings are universal or the One True Meanings of these terms, but rather to illustrate where I come from.
None of the faculty, notably, had any familiarity with video games.
@Boogie2988
"Time will tell." No, time has already told. History proves you're wrong. History proves your fence-sitting is a shield for fascism. Our goals are not the same. We want progress, you want platitudes.
Roko’s Basilisk is also only scary if you believe in the hyper-specific nonsensical philosophy of the website it originated from, which was deliberately crafted to make such things scary
The Dark Forest theory is right up there with Roko's Basilisk as a popular scary scifi idea that, when subject to a bit of critical thinking, is really very silly
Pure doomerism concept really
A neat idea for a novel maybe, but don't think it's in any way substantial or valid
A worked example: In my story "The Second Woden Expedition" the setting is limited to the planet Woden and its orbital space. But one character is described as coming from the planet Cheorwon - this is not part of the setting in the story, but part of the broader universe.
@delusionalcons
"I wasn't actively racist until I realized people would actually vote for black people, then I had to come out of the closet to ensure the future of the white race."
But there are also details about this universe that do not exist in the text at all, that are not even implied, and instead exist solely in my head and in separate documents that you, as a reader, do not and cannot see.
Much like the collectathons that emerged alongside it, the idea of lore has confused its means with its ends. Some people have come to expect a certain kind of lore, a lore that... well, here. I'll give you an example.
lmao remember what i said about comic fans needing to be spoonfed ‘lore’ bc they don’t actually care about the story that’s happening, just being a fact machine with no personality
@Faerynnistired
Okay I try to stay out of this stuff these days but I went into six finite debt for this shit and this stupid motherfucker needs to stop using the words “data” and “dataset” because they don’t know what the fuck they mean
Decades of smother myself and being abused makes it feel like maintaining any sort of interpersonal relationship is ultimately impossible for me. Like I should just seal myself back in my box if I ever want to not be miserable.
There are essentially three "levels" of setting here - the literal setting of the story, the broader "known universe" that the story implies but does not actually include, and the outer "unknown universe" that effectively does not exist for the purposes of the story.
The other day I said I was glad that I could finally feel motions, positive and negative.
But sometimes I wish I could just be numb again. Sometimes these emotions feel like they're impossible for me to handle.
@drmistercody
Considering the big plot twist of the sequels/the inciting incident for Rise of Skywalker happened in a limited-time Fortnite event, I’d say this is technically an improvement.
The result is people like this, who believe having gaps of any sort of your storytelling is a bad thing. There MUST be lore. Everything MUST be explained somewhere, even if it's in an appendix at the back of the book.
There can be no ambiguity, no mystery, no interpretation.
It's easy enough to say that the setting of the story is Woden, in the sense that stories set in the modern day are also set on Earth. But *the whole planet* isn't usually the actual setting, is it? For a story taking place entirely in Chicago, Tibet is not a part of its setting.
Hey I don’t know if it needs to be said but I’m the happiest I’ve been in a long time right now, and it’s in large part because
@benjanun_s
played a huge role in cracking my egg (possibly deliberately, I couldn’t quite tell 😭)
