This is absolute bullshit. This is the university failing to acknowledge the culture of violence targeting people on the basis of sex and gender. It is part of a broader culture of violence against women, against queer & trans people & against racialized & Indigenous people.

Minimizing the nature of the problem and failing to name it is a root cause of this violence. @UWaterloo needs to acknowledge this targeted violence and take concrete steps to change the culture and protect those teaching and taking these courses.

The failure to require masks puts everyone at risk of an airborne virus: one with not only short-term acute effects, but long-term harms--more of which continue to be documented. We know 2-way masking is far more effective than 1-way masking, making this a collective action issue

Kieran Moore does not deserve to have his medical license. He is worse than useless: he's responsible for needless, preventable suffering & death. There should be a massive lawsuit against him and @fordnation for lying and gross negligence #BringBackMasks

Every single person working at & attending @UWaterloo ought to be up in arms about the removal of mask requirements. I want my department @PSCIuWaterloo to speak out. Studying power involves an additional responsibility to hold institutions accountable. @UWaterlooPres 1/3

I asked the board to require masks at the conference, noting it is the least we can do to protect others and to make attendance inclusive and accessible.

The official position is that @cpsa_acsp will follow "the public health guidelines from the Ontario government" and @YorkUniversity 's protocols. Both of these are wholly inadequate

This man is absolutely useless and does not care one bit about public health or our in-crisis healthcare system.

Ontario’s chief medical officer of health says he’ll be considering whether to make a stronger recommendation on masking in about two weeks after looking closely at data on flu cases.

This. Honestly, what is the point of having a discipline that studies power if we're going to continue to support an institution that does this? @cpsa_acsp

Based on the egregious show of force against peaceful student protestors where we saw a cop pull a gun on a McGill student, McGill's unwillingness to accept their demands (and no, sham conversations don't count) & AMPD's strike... ...is Congress REALLY still happening? 👀

The day after @UWaterlooPres posted a notice to end the encampment established by @OccupyUW we see this formal denunciation of the crimes committed (and ongoing) by Netanyahu and Gallant. It's beyond time to listen to @OccupyUW and for @UWaterloo to disclose & divest.

Basically an admission that 1) too many kids will get COVID that we can't/won't keep track, and 2) we don't care anyway. Not to mention ignoring the spillover into kids' families and the broader community (a majority of whom do not have 3rd doses). @fordnation

New COVID-19 guidance for schools states: "Given the widespread transmission and inability to test all symptomatic individuals, schools will not be routinely notifying students/pupils in classes with a positive case." #onpoli

If @Sflecce cared at all about students' well-being & ability to concentrate the focus would be on clean (virus- & wildfire smoke-free) air: on HEPAs, ventilation, & Co2 monitors for accountability. The few readings we have show very poor air quality @ONSchoolSafety

The list of people signing the letter in support of @OccupyUW and their right to protest is growing. With the additional--& completely unnecessary--surveillance @UWaterloo has installed it's even more important to stand in solidarity.

Day #3 of the @OccupyUW student encampment sees increasing support. Meanwhile, additional surveillance cameras have been installed around the area.
