Now I’ve seen everything: a national Long Covid conference full of seemingly maskless, tightly packed together folks. No hybrid option (exclusion=discrimination). People with LC invited to attend this f-2-f event (note: LC risk increases with each infection). Conclusion: WTF!

For those in UK hoping to get two doses of #Novavax here is the correct info. The licence secured in 🇬🇧 means we can only get a 2nd dose at least 3 months after the 1st, though there’s a bit of wiggle room (in theory) if a clinician recommends this eg due to a weak immune system.

Sadly, it’s been confirmed that Novavax won’t reach the UK till 22 April. I do hope we get v good uptake as Novavax is better & cheaper than mRNA options & has less side effects plus for some of us mRNAs are not an option. So we need to show there’s a v good market 4 Novavax

@buzzingboo 🤞we so need the option of novavax in 🇬🇧 as some of us can’t tolerate mRNA ones so it’s our only option. As importantly, novavax is cheaper to buy - £45 versus £100 for Pfizer - so it’s a bit more accessible to people on low incomes but it’s still inexcusable anyone has to pay

If you’re trying to book a Novavax booster in 🇬🇧 and were declined (like I was) it looks like it’s worth persevering. My guess is it will be a postcode lottery with some chemists getting Novavax on time and others not. Do ring and check b4 your appointment. Good luck everyone!

Our partner pharmacies will be able to offer all licensed Covid vaccines incl the Pfizer vaccine which some pharmacies received last week.

The Autumn Wave of Covid has started in England, and we have raised our Covid risk level to VERY HIGH. Around 1 in 179 people in England were infected with Covid as of 8 September. We expect the risk of meeting a Covid-infected person to continue to rise.

@1goodtern It’s my understanding they only test for covid in hospitals if they have already decided that person will get paxlovid if positive - and given practically no one is eligible in the uk, there’s practically no testing. Added bonus: no one dies of covid this way either

Sadly we don’t know why the UKHSA has delayed release of the SARS-CoV-2 data till just before Xmas but it’s reasonable to speculate their motive is not benign given they’re a government agency and not independent. Reasonable to assume too we’re at the peak of a big wave right now
