Reminder - a project like this could be done with looping in modders (like @bioware did) instead of suing them and taking down mods older than half of the GTAO playerbase. It would have benefitted everyone and made that part of the community happy, but R* is too high and mighty.

Now an absolute banger - Virtua Fighter 5 in Yakuza 6 and Yakuza LAD appears to be FULL CONSOLE VERSION 😱 By default, it can only boot to Arcade Mode or VS Mode directly, but boot it to mode 0 and this happens. Netplay/leaderboards/achievements obviously don't work... (1/2)

This gets better - Razor's crack is fine, the reason both Midnight Club 2 and Manhunt crashed when these cracks were in use was the fact that Steam DRM included a .bind section that was code *not* marked as code - thus tripping Data Execution Prevention 🤦‍♂️

In GTA III, cars that are shot at can either drive way (on PC and PS2) or do nothing (on PS2 only). This discrepancy was obviously a bug, but there is more - there exists a third behaviour, where drivers leave their cars and flee on foot. With SilentPatch, now all 3 can happen!

In GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas, there is a chance cars won't headlights on when it's foggy or rainy during the day, however due to a different range of randomness on PC compared to PS2, this feature is broken in the PC ports - there, they eventually all turn the lights on.

These planes also crash more than they should due to a bug in the collision detection as planes are spawned. This can result in a false positive where the planes spawn, thinking the path in front is clear - when in reality, it's not.

There's one problem with this, speaking from experience - nowadays if you release a game, fix up some pressing issues in 1-2 post-release patches and then move on, quite often people say "DEVS ABANDONED THE GAME!!". Live service ruined the concept of a finished game 🙁

If I had to pick one bug in GTA San Andreas that legitimately annoyed me ever since I first played the game in 2005, it's this - when the player loses wanted level, biker cops give up on the chase but they continue to shoot the player's car. Now SilentPatched!

All versions of GTA San Andreas have a bug (fixed in SilentPatch) in the character animation code, where pointers were written where floating point values for bone transformations are. The only reason it didn't show on PS2/Xbox is because of how little memory they have. (1/2)

It's interesting how the original graphics took the route of "the way you remember them" - so it's still the original assets, but without hardware limitations like bad texture projection, banding or draw distance. It's kind of similar to emulator enhancements and I love it.

This is exactly why you don't convert your integer "time in milliseconds" variable (very big for saves with a lot of hours) to a floating point variable for the sake of traffic simulation - precision gets lost in the process and everything goes haywire.

My old San Andreas 100% file is broken. Traffic basically tries to drive at highway speed on all roads. No cheats. I've read it can happen after a lot of days pass in game.

It's funny to see GTA III DE show the same side effects of moving it to a newer codebase as mods did. Here Salvatore's guard notices the player immediately (like in GTA: Liberty City aka III on VC engine), because only GTA III accounted for the Z coord in a line-of-sight check.
