Had many asking so I'll QRT with the info: This is my own personalized design based off the MET museum 14.25.675a with a different gorget and neck assembly. Designed for full contact Armored HEMA The armourer behind the artwork here is Alexandr Manchev of Knecht Armoury.

Now, his first name, Messmer, knifemaker. We never did find out who it was who first beat Maliketh and took the rune of death for Ranni’s plot with the black knives. We never got a name for who CREATED the knives (I always just assumed Iji). But I think it's may be Messmer (5/?)

Clearly related to marika/radagon with the red hair and naming conventions, so we now have a roman general, with a spear, who supposedly stabbed the ribcage of a crucified god. Clearly inspired by Longinus, the name attributed to the Roman soldier who stabbed Christ (4/?)

Ranni is a manipulative bitch and we love her for it, she barely lifts a finger and gets others to do the work for her. I think it is possible that Messmer was sent to retrieve death from Maliketh and/or was the one who imbued the black knives with the rune of death. (6/?)

if this is the case, he strongly mirrors the firstborn son of Gwyn, who also committed a blasphemous act and had his name scrubbed from the annals of history. Except this time his blasphemous act was much more dire. Attempted Patricide. Which brings me to the last part. (8/?)

I think at some point in this, he perhaps took the fall for Ranni and was exiled to this “Realm of Darkness” If he truly is a son of Marika/Radagon, and truly impaled their ribs, then he strongly mirrors another fromsoft character... (7/?)

he strongly evokes a “cast out” and downtrodden air, that reminds one of the fallen angel himself, and, based on his dialogue in the trailer, like the biblical Lucifer, he is clearly obsessed with his fathers creations, and now wishing to destroy them or desecrate them. (10/?)

Good thread. And to add, you can get good, historically accurate armor on a budget, you just can't get it fast. Most, if not all armourers ive spoken with know how things are, and will work out payment plans to make things easier for you. I for example, don't make much money.

People's idea of cheap armor in medieval times is completely wrong. Here's a cheap breastplate from 1480, mass produced in Italy in German Style. Notice how it's not too far away from the shaping of high end gothic armor (right pic) and it even features decoration.

@Herewyrd That is why there are giant stop ribs around the oculars, a peak, and a second set of stop ribs on the brow. the actual angle of the oculars on burgonets are well thought out pieces of engineering, with similar lines as your typical armet/closed helm slits.

@Throudin Closed burgonet, some would call it "Maximilian" style, dated to around 1525 commonly German or Italian, sometimes called "Burgonet Sturmhaube" in period text. Common amongst Landsknecht and other mercenaries of the renaissance
