The most peaceful and non actively harming creatures/cryptids on European folklore can make you lose the track of time so violently that when you return home, two centuries had passed.
England has a hard time winning sports they invented, here is another example of Argentine knights beating English knights who had centuries to improve their skills 😂
My skills are increasing.
Making a video as we speak showing my process and how I get these results. The level of artistry needed, the technical knowledge required, and amount of work involved I think is going to shock people.
The Griffon Burgonet, 16th century Italy.
Likely made for the parade and tourney, it is beautifully embossed to resemble the famous ancient monster.
Note the little plume holder at the nape.
Now housed at the Museé de l'Armée, in Paris.
Over the years I’ve seen this fight be debated passionately.
Lets settle it.
Both of them at their peak. Longsword vs Katana. One versus One.
European Knight vs Japanese Samurai.
I know my answer.
Go!
I always found nice how Tolkien decided to be extremely polite and basically say "I sadly didn't like it, but the world doesn't need to hear a full rant about it"
Idk, I always felt that as a very stealthy jab at obnoxious critics
"In fact I dislike Dune with some intensity, and in that unfortunate case, it is much the best and fairest to another author to keep silent and refuse to comment." — JRR Tolkien
Like, I prefer to be dismembered and eaten in 5 seconds rather than to return home to see how 200 years have passed, all my family is dead and all my country was conquered by the anglo-saxons
I can't fathom why this people don't understand that making the thing is part of the process. It's not just about the end result.
Like, I'm not even talking about the whole AI thing, just why they don't get that the craft is not just about the end result?
Fun fact.
China and India have silently agreed not to use firearms along their border, because technically, with no firearms, a clash or a riot doesn't constiture an act of war.
Something very sad has happened.

"Armor disappeared shortly after gunpowder became common"
It didn't. Armor was used extensively alongside gunpowder for 2 centuries. And even after that, some troops were still wearing armor, like sappers and cuirassiers.
Heck, French cuirassiers wore armor in WW1
Tell me about a common historical myth that makes your hackles rise. I don't mean actual disinformation like Holocaust denial; I mean stuff like "Napoleon was short!"
For me it's probably "corsets were torture devices for the rich" and "romantic love is a very modern concept."
LITTLE CULTURAL IMPACT WHAT THE HELL??????
Like, dude, not directly impacting in most western Europe doesn't mean that it never had cultural impact.
Ask about the mongols to the Chinese, or the Japanese, or the whole iranic world
It's funny how at one point the Mongolian Empire stretched from the Baltics to the south of China yet had such little cultural impact on the world afterwards
Another oldie
This was the first full illustration I did of Gondorian knights as cataphracts. The chap in the center is Prince Imrahil, with a a helmet design I thought it looked cool at the time
Gondor is kind of inspired by the Eastern Roman Empire, but thanks to the movies usually are depicted with plate armor an such...
So anyways, I'll use your tweer to post again my Gondor illustrations (?
"Medieval Europe" in fantasy is based on England and France, sometimes Germany. I have yet to see medieval fantasy inspired by the emirates in Southern Italy, Al Andalus, the Byzantine Empire, the Judicates etc.
Artists, show me your work that got popular unexpectedly.
People tend to like the concept of the Inca-inspired elves, but this one is the one who got more attention
I don't get why in this kind of charts they put knights in every century, except in the 17th century, which is always represented by a pikeman/musketeer with breastplate and Morrison/cabasset, when the actual successor of the knight would be the cuirassier in three quarter armor

I love how in the background we have a guy with a decent klapvisor, a guy with a nice sallet and mail voiders. And then there's Paul, the fantasy knight with a poorly attached thumb in his gauntlet

Since a few days ago I shared with you art about the Inca-inspired elves of the TTRPG setting, I also wanted to share art about other peoples of this setting.
So here is an old illustration about the Viera, the Scottish highland-inspired rabbit people of the setting
1- Ridley should know that fiction is the way most people "learn" history. What is depicted on screen will always have the capability to shape public perception about something
2- Ridley should know that history fans are the target audience for this kind of films
The finished version of the last comm for
@gunsen_history
's paper!
A samurai of eastern Japan, on horseback. The horse is also fully armored. This time full with sashimono and maedate.
Working with Gunsen, was, as always, a honour and a pleasure
"Don't let their fancy and decorated armor deceive you. The noble elves of the Tiawarin lead their soldiers from where they should. From the front"
Tiawarin noble elf, in full armor.
Also, Draw This in Your Style! :D
bUt aLl AI ART lOoKs lIkE sLOp!!!
Says the people desperate to invalidate AI art's merit and value.
When you deny beauty and quality when it's blatant to be seen by everyone, you simply show yourself as blinded by bias.
Seriously, check out some of the amazing images in this
Alla' Antica Heroic Armour, ca. ~1450s-1490s.
This style of armour shows up in artwork, and was possibly not actually used in real life, but is still cool nonetheless and appears perfectly functional anyways.

Also, marriages between siblings, at least regarding Europe weren't common at all (afaik, there were practically none between siblings). Cousins, nieces/nephews and uncles fair game tho
People seriously should read about Caesar's army during the Gallic Wars and how the whole campaign was shaped by the concern of having or not having supplies
What's even the point of making a documentary/docu-drama if you're gonna shit on the concept of historical accuracy?
Like, if you're gonna do this don't call it a docu-series and just go for the over the top route and make something like Alexander Senki
@sanstitre2000
Yes please, so we can write a long ass poem about how one of those champions was really pissed off because his leader took away his reward
This post is triggering sooo many people. They really hate that I unapologetically love Ai art and that I try to help artists adapt to this new reality and technology.
Ai art is not going anywhere, and crying about it, dogpiling my posts, saying vile and hateful things to me,
It's funny how at one point the Mongolian Empire stretched from the Baltics to the south of China yet had such little cultural impact on the world afterwards

People who nit-pick Ai art saying it all looks like crap contradict the claim that artists should be afraid of Ai taking their jobs.
If it’s trash, they have nothing to worry about. Who would want to buy trash?
But the truth is we all know that regardless of the nit-picking this
Late Sengoku period samurai armor!
Commission I recently made for
