London Underground House Mouse. Not a regular little mouse life. Did you know there are half a million mice living in the tube system, entire lives never seeing daylight, surviving on litter & dropped crumbs? They are blacker than their luxury digs mouse cousins, due to soot!

Ear cropping in dogs. An illegal mutilation in the UK. Yet cropped dogs popping up left, right & centre. Many people don’t even realise it’s a thing. Dogs do not benefit in any way from having half their ears chopped off. Unless they are fighting dogs, which is also illegal..

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that the overwhelming reason veterinarians have the highest suicide rate of any profession, & serious issues with depression, burnout & compassion fatigue is...moral distress. Our values just do not align with pet owners. Discuss.

Very clear evidence of overgrazing by deer in a wood this evening. We just have way too many, not enough culling & no natural predators. Our ecosystems are sick & getting sicker. Should we all be eating more venison? Or bringing back Lynx & Wolves? Or both? Love to hear thoughts!

Well a new study has blown the lid on just how inbred pedigree dogs really are using new genetic/DNA analyses. And it’s pretty shocking. Papers and pedigrees are just documents showing how closely related your dog is to its relatives. We need to radically change dog breeding!

Most don’t realise harm their dogs are doing tearing around off lead across our coasts & countryside. And sorry to say as a vet & dog lover there are too many of them doing just that in a biodiversity crisis with one in seven wild species in the UK threatened with extinction.

Cracking Polecat pair at British Wildlife Centre. A species recovering from a low of 5000 confined to rural Wales due to persecution, now estimated at 46000 animals spreading widely across England. I’ve found one as roadkill as far east as Cambridgeshire. Have you seen one?

Look at this poor English Bulldog, many need to sleep in these odd positions to keep their airway open so they don’t suffocate during sleep. This poor chap had to have a permanent trachy tube in his neck to breathe. Dogs bred to suffer, it’s terrible.

This is disingenous to the extreme, the site is already rewilded. The borough’s only breeding Skylarks, red listed birds of highest conservation concern, rely on large expanses of open grassland. Taking half will mean their end. Not a suitable location for new sports grounds.
