The med student on our service was asked a question in the OR. Got 2/3 correct, was struggling for the 3rd. I leaned over and whispered him the answer. He repeated it aloud. Staff praised him. He immediately admitted I told him. I don’t think he understands how this works 🥲

As a child I remember my mom pawning jewelry to make sure the rent was paid. Even after she was diagnosed with cancer and struggled with chemo, she worked full-time to keep the lights on at home. Today I fulfilled a dream she never was able to: I bought my first home! @Benjameux

First attempt at a vascular anastomosis was a success! This is a rat femoral artery (diameter ~0.5-0.6 mm) anastomosis using 10-0 and a handy dandy operating microscope.

Had my first call on gen surg/trauma today. Every member of my team texted me luck and offered help if needed. My in-house senior was the bomb. My attending even found me when leaving to offer his support both in and out of the hospital. I’m so happy I’m here 😭 @ClevelandClinic

Day 5/7: Since first donning my white coat, I have always carried this small blue cross within. It was my mother’s. She would bring it to every chemo session, grasping it for comfort. And it really does work! Hard days are made easier knowing a little piece of her is with me.

I felt so stupid. Would think about it often, esp in the days leading up to match day. Yet here I am, over halfway done with intern year @CleClinicUro ….and training for a marathon on my treadmill bc there’s a foot of snow on the ground and it’s like 10 degrees out.
