my *official* first day of intern year just so happens to fall on my birthday 🥳🤭🥰
if i get to deliver a baby today, i will truly be the happiest OB/GYN intern there ever was!! 🥳🎂
passing along this info for busy healthcare professionals:
the family size meals at whole foods are $26 so this is essentially 4 high quality nutrient dense meals for $6.50 with no work

so surreal to share that I MATCHED AT MY

OB/GYN PROGRAM 😭🥳🥹🤩 it is a dream come true that i get to spend the rest of my life as an obstetrician, gynecologic surgeon, and a women’s health advocate 🥹🥹

met a 3rd year medical student who introduced herself by saying “oh i’m just the med student” and i quickly said “no, not JUST!! you’re as important as anyone else, tell us about yourself” then my co-resident had her join our sim lab.. she looked so excited to be included 🥹
this has to be a record breaking match for DOs and “competitive” specialties. my feed is flooded with DOs matching neurosurg, ortho, gen surg, derm, and ob/gyn
so SO proud of everyone, but especially the DO students who went for it despite the “odds” 🥹🥹🥹

for anyone in need of professional photos who is crafty and has a good quality phone/camera, i HIGHLY recommend doing it yourself
my ERAS portrait was the product of a $20 amazon backdrop, iphone portrait mode, and lots of patience 😂 this was my DIY set up
me to the medical student i’m working with: feel free to jump into the conversation and ask the patient any additional questions you may have!
the medical student: oh? so this isn’t a rotation where i can only speak if i am spoken to??
…can we please stop with this culture?
today was my first day in the OR since match and my preceptor handed me the scalpel and goes “since you’re going to be a surgeon, here you go” and i - 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
an *ongoing* master thread on my experience matching OB/GYN ✨
keep in mind we are all unique - what worked for me may not suit you, but hopefully this thread can help demystify the extremely intimidating process! i’m here to help with any questions or concerns :-)

!!!! THIS
the next time someone tries to say this, i am simply going to refer them to the american college of surgeons.
OB/GYNs are surgeons - it is not an opinion, it is a fact.
As I begin my surgical training modules in preparation for my surgical training as part of my OBGYN residency I think its wild that some people don't consider OBGYNs surgeons???
today in orientation we had a hospital scavenger hunt that led to this - our intern call room 🥹🥹
my whole program is just so thoughtful and loving, i’m so blessed to join this team
after a weekend of call, i can finally say that i am OFFICIALLY done with my first rotation of residency!!! 🤩🥹
during a record breaking month in L&D i might add 🤣🤠 needless to say, i can’t wait to start my ambulatory rotation tomorrow!
for students who are worried about applying to a competitive specialty because it’s “hard” - you know what else is hard? being in a field that’s wrong for you
find a mentor. have a plan. have a back-up plan. if you don’t at least TRY, you won’t ever know. you got this!! :,)
okay i am too happy!! i got so much praise for my c-section closures today 🥹🥹 the scrub tech even said “Dr. DeLiberto is OB/plastics at this point” 😂
i am elated!! and i am taking this energy with me to the start of the week 🥰🤩🥳
MS3s: if you’re presenting a patient to your attending and they ask a question about the patients history that you didn’t ask, the correct response is “I did not ask, but I will next time”, not “they didn’t say”
it’s not the patient’s job to tell you, it’s your job to ask 👍🏻
a summary of medical school:
1st year: desperately wanting free time
2nd year: desperately wanting free time
3rd year: desperately wanting free time
4th year: having free time and not knowing what to do with it
i’m sad because i am in the best shape and strongest i have ever been in my entire life and i feel like i’m just going to revert back to being a noodle in residency based off time constraints and overall fatigue ☹️
anyone want to share a personal anecdote??
i swear ever since starting medical school, my memory of childhood events has significantly diminished. my sister will constantly be like “don’t you remember this?” and i’m like “uh no, but i can tell you the clotting cascade” - can anyone else relate?? 😂😂
“when I read your personal statement I thought, I can’t wait to meet her”
🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹 from a PD. wow, interview season has been so much more than I could ever ask for. i love meeting such wonderful physicians.
i think there comes a point in every clinician’s life where they realize they much rather wear hospital scrubs as opposed to their fancy fashion scrubs 😂
it is so upsetting and discouraging to see so much discrimination against DOs lately :( especially wanting a more competitive specialty
can any OB/GYN DO residents (and MD if you know your program is open minded) drop some programs to sincerely consider for this upcoming match?
friendly reminder, there is no reward for submitting your ERAS application early. just make sure you get it in a few days before the due date to circumvent any technology problems and potential site crashes.
but otherwise, take your time. perfect it. you got this.
preparing to have medical students and my icebreaker is going to be: if you were a surgical instrument, which would you be and why
would love to hear everyone’s answers 🎤
mock interview ✔️
didn’t realize how emotionally impactful it would be to speak on behalf of my journey. feeling really proud :,)
with that being said, applicants - take a moment to show yourself gratitude. you have accomplished so much 👏🏻
idk what third year med student needs to hear this but you are doing great!!! i am proud of you!!! unclench your jaw, take a deep breath, and keep up the good work 🫶🏻
match day enthusiasm is .. unmatched 😂
i can’t WAIT to wear this over my scrubs in the hospital. etsy will get me through residency with cute OBGYN gear ✨
4th years 📣
your self worth, accomplishments, and potential are not negated by an email. whatever happens this week, you are incredible, hardworking, and limitless. wishing all the utmost success and wholeheartedly hope that everyone’s dreams are actualized Friday
#match2024
the resilience and grace of the unmatched applicants i have seen is beyond admirable. your perseverance and dedication will not go unrewarded and i am confident incredible things are coming your way
as always, let me know if there is anything i can do 🫶🏻
officially 2 points away from my dream step score and i have ample time left in dedicated, i think i am going to exceed my own expectations 🥹🥹
if you need a sign that you can do it, THIS IS IT!! keep grinding, maximize your efforts, and most importantly, believe in yourself 👏🏻
it has been so rewarding to share all of my experiences and personal tips for 3rd year and 4th year!! i have had a handful of people message me about matching OB/GYN specifically and i am going to make a master thread of how i approached auditions, application season, etc :-)
see a SOAP post, repost a SOAP post 🫡
let’s do our best to help support our unmatched colleagues in finding the positions and opportunities they deserve 👏🏻
chatGPT is a game changer when studying, i wish i had been able to utilize it during my first two years of school
FOR BOARDS: if there is a question you get wrong and the explanation isn't enough, plug it into chatGPT then adjust the question and explanation to meet your needs
it’s okay if you got denied for an audition. it’s okay if you didn’t do well on that practice exam. it’s okay if your anxious and unsure about the future.
the solution is perseverance. keep reaching out to the programs, keep taking those practice exams, and keep your head up! 🫶🏻
i am confident that there is a rule that only the kindest people are allowed to be pediatricians. i have never met a pediatrician or peds aspirant that i didn’t absolutely love.
i wish the best to all applicants and hope everyone matches to the program of their dreams, but i feel particularly excited for all of the women applying to predominantly male fields
to the ladies applying gen surg, ortho, uro, and all of the other ones, i’m rooting for you 🥹🥳
i will never understand “gunner” mentality.
the only person i am truly competing with is past versions of myself. i want my peers to SUCCEED, which is independent to my gains or losses.
“oh you’re doing OB? you must hate sleep”
biggest pet peeve because no - actually I do enjoying sleeping, i just trust in my ability to navigate the field’s obstacles and create a lifestyle that will suit me without forfeiting my passion for women’s health and obstetrics
for the first time in years, i get to have a study free, guilt free holiday and truly just enjoy myself and my time with my family 🥹🥹
safe travels to everyone and i hope you have a wonderful holiday! 🍂🧡
just had my first video call with my PDs and fellow intern class 🥹🤩🥰 couldn’t be happier with my program and class!!!
also VERY blessed to be on the other side of these calls 😂😅 i had minor ptsd to interview season logging on and adjusting my lighting
tomorrow will feel like relief for some and unfortunately, a nightmare for others. hoping for the best for everyone, but if you get an email you didn’t anticipate, i am here for you 🫶🏻
really just had a man ask me to get off of a machine while i was in the middle of my set because my presence interrupted the flow of his circuit… you actually can’t make this up.
ladies, please continue to take up space and finish your sets.
i am set on maintaining optimism and openness for next week, but i will say these SOAP emails feel like they are preparing us for the hunger games
sending love and support to all my fellow 4th years 🫶🏻 if anxiety creeps in, let it pass and try to also welcome trust and grace
i think some of the worst advice i got when studying for boards was “don’t start too early”. medical school and learning in general is all about repetition and recall. start small to avoid burnout, but START!! 📚
had the most incredible experience giving a talk on postpartum care + pediatric milestones at a local organization created to support pregnant mothers, often teens and young women, in need who have been shunned from family and are seeking support, my heart is so full 🥹🥹
my PD sent out an email with instructions to complete a survey and i thought it was going to be like hospital related but to my surprise the questions consisted of “favorite color, candy, movie, are you introvert or extrovert”and so on
DID I MENTION I LOVE MY PROGRAM 🥹
i have had so many emotions preceding match week but i am particularly excited to meet my future co-residents!!
i have met sooo many amazing people this year and can’t wait to expand my relationships!! 🥹🤩🫶🏻
after a long three months, I am so happy to say I have concluded my interview season! 🥹🥳
what a journey it has been - and a pleasure meeting such incredible people along the way! i am feeling so excited and so hopeful for match day 🤞🏼
my top tip for 3rd years and auditions is if you don’t get a rotation, DO A TOUR
this allows you to see the hospital, meet the residents and faculty, and potentially even get reconsidered for a rotation! i got two audition offers after i toured when i was previously denied 👍🏻
