Students protested the killings in Gaza today. Counter-protesters waved flags, laughed, jeered. Other students easily walked around both groups. A group of us faculty watched for 2 hours. It was peaceful. Then DPSS attacked and dragged away at least 2 of our @UMich students. 1/2

A civil lawsuit is being filed today by the eight Bruce Conforth survivors claiming that @UMich failed to protect students from the predatory professor after OIE learned of his behavior in a 2008 report. Conforth continued to sexually abuse and rape students, up until 2016.

Someone commented: "don't blame the current Shinola for the show polish co.'s racist images because those were posted before we knew racism was wrong." Ludicrous! Plenty of people knew racism was wrong in the 1930s-60s. And Shinola knew it was wrong when they bought the name.

Professor Sheng seemed open to discussing the problems of representation. Why shut down learning opportunities? This seems to have been handled poorly by SMTD

I used to follow socialstudies4socialjustice on IG, but today they posted a celebration of Putin's attack on Ukraine for liberating them from American imperialism. I told them that Putin is bombing civilian buildings and they denied it. I showed proof and they wrote: "shut up."
