One of the best tips for being a sports designer is to look for inspiration outside of sports. For these pieces for our seniors, I tried to chase my unfulfilled dreams of being a naturalist illustrator from the 1800’s. (you know - nonsense like bees from 9 different angles)

Thought I'd show a little more "under the hood" stuff, since that's invariably what I want to see from other designers. On these players, I have 2 layers each. Bottom layer is a low opacity Multiply layer, with a threshold effect. Top layer is Hard Mix set to around 75%.

One of the biggest things I learned this year is the value of doing *just a little more*. When you think you’re done, you can usually push it a little further, or polish it a little more. That bit of time at the end is where a lot of magic can happen.

When I have a design that's not working, 90% of the time, addressing one of these things fixes it: -Scale (contrasting scale, correct hierarchy, etc) -White Space (generally, just add MORE) -Simplify, simplify, simplify What's on your list? (aside from swearing/crying haha)
