I wonder if the province or the bishops have asked/ordered them to shut those podcasts down? I think probably not.

@megbasham Based on the historical record, I would go so far as to say that “Christian Nationalism” is anti-Christ. Or does anyone want to point to a model that actually worked? One that didn’t end with prolonged executions and Christians killing other Christians for the sake of “holiness.”

This is a nightmare. It is baffling and heartbreaking that the spouse of a church leader endured abuse from her husband (the church leader) and did not receive care or protection, but instead prolonged mishandling and further abuse.

@johnandrewwords Also, can’t we call this heresy? It goes Christ’s vision of the Church as a new people. It’s not that ethnicity or culture ceases to be, but it’s no longer a defining distinctive. Christ through the Spirit tea forms it. This this is a harmful heresy.

@bonhoefferchild I am baffled that Christians defend him. It’s amazing how groupthink and tribalism works. We defend anyone we perceive as good or “on our side,” even if (as Christians) the person in question displays NONE of the Fruits of the Spirit.

@bethallisonbarr I feel this so much. This is why my own church is in the process of closing. We were reaching a critical mass and then Covid hit. People got tired, lost connection, or became disillusioned with Am. Xianity. All of a sudden people started believing what we had wasn’t sustainable.

There I am in all my beardless, skinny glory. I had watched the sound check for that evening's concert and he came down and said hello to fans for 20 minutes or so. After all these years the picture is pretty surreal.... I can't believe I was once standing next to Rich Mullins.

One highly charitable theory is that many men simply lack the imagination to comprehend how vile and destructive rape, sexual abuse, and domestic violence actually are. Fewer women lack this type of imagination, or even need to use their imaginations in the first place.
