As a Gh HR/Finance person,you don’t have a problem paying $7000 a month as rent for an expat, Lincoln school fees, 2 business class tickets for the expat to visit his home country but you’ve a problem with fellow Ghanaian asking for Ghs 15,000 salary each month You’re just evil!

4 weeks ago, someone with $10,000 which was Ghs80,000 is now Ghs 16,000 richer for no work done. If someone had Ghs80,000 which was $10,000 at the time, it’s now equivalent to US$ 8,333. That person has lost about $1,700 through no fault of his.

The issue of TOR breaks my heart. I personally presented several proposals to TOR, from optimizing the current refinery, expanding TOR and having equity in the proposed new refinery. They didn’t mind me. The last proposal I sent, ‘my’ company’s revenue was €13.095 billion.

Eventually, I came to a conclusion that people were just not ready and willing for TOR to be efficient and effective. It made no sense that consistently, Management/Govt refused and or failed to consider proposals that in some cases didn’t need TOR to invest even a cedi.

If you had $20,000 in January 2021, the cedi equivalent was Ghs 116,000. Today, same $20k is Ghs 126,400. If you had Ghs 116,000 in January,2021 which was equivalent to $20,000, today it is $18,354. You’ve lost almost $1,700. I don’t want to talk about the value of the cedi.

@harry_specter So true. I needed a sensor. The guy was selling it for Ghs 2,700, after a spirited negotiation. I checked online and it was $30. One of the mega shops at Accra mall was selling a tv for Ghs 22,000. I checked online and it was $450. How can you be so wicked and greedy? 🤦‍♂️
