Just played a game in our team league. Although my team lost 2.5-5.5, I had a nice (theoretical) win. My opponent played into a main line of the Botvinnik Semi-Slav (a super sharp opening), and I happened to know all the theory until he made a mistake. #chesspunks

The highlight for me was when after 20 moves the position was still roughly equal, and he looked at me and asked "I'm sorry, what's your rating?" It sounded like a compliment to me 😁 Obviously I blundered a piece a couple of moves later...

@ChrisBirdIA I think this is one of those "hate the system, don't hate the player" moments. FIDE set this up so this kind of nonsense could happen. In a way, they encouraged it by going only off the Jan 1st rating list. I don't like that it's happening, but it's not Firouzja's fault.
