Iโve been chasing a 300lb (136kg) squat for over a year. Maybe I should just accept 280 lbs (127kg) as my top end & cease to chase numbers. What the hey, a set of five at 280 is awesome when youโre 62.
Time for maintenance & not advancement.
A year ago, I could barely do a pull-up. Now, nearly 5 reps in a set. I never stopped trying. I never stopped believing. At 61 Iโm not to old. I weigh a nominal 195lbs.

About 25 years ago, 2 fifty pound plates came with a weight set I bought at a garage sale. This time last year I couldnโt even do a squat with them. Today, 170lbs was my warm up set. Finally a set of six at 270 lbs. Not my PR of 290, but for a 60 year old, damn good.
Itโs eliminating the potatoes & toast from your bacon & eggs breakfast that makes it healthy. Donโt believe the people or the fake science that claims these super foods are harmful. Theyโre not.

Burger prep: Buy a bunch of meat at Costco, press by hand into nearly round things on parchment paper, salt generously, chill then freeze. Anybody have anything to add?
A set of 6 squats with 270lbs (124kg) isnโt bad for a sixty year old. Is there any reason I canโt do this with 350lbs as I turn 61? Itโs something to work for.

Iโve lost over 80 lbs, inches off my beltline, off 2 blood pressure meds & Flonase, the liver spots on my hands & arms are gone. At 58 I look & feel like a new man. My goal is to look good wearing a black Tshirt 2 sizes to small.
This time 4 years ago I weighed about 300lbs. Thursday I did a 3 1/2 mile barefoot hike in the Cascade Mountains outside Portland. Not bad at 61. Believe in yourself even if no one else does. I did it, so can you.
That โpeople are fat cuz they donโt move as muchโ is wrong, a lie even. I worked in or adjacent to construction trades for 35+ years, moving constantly, & became obese. Itโs. WHAT you eat that makes you fat. What you donโt eat restores your health.

Started mostly meat keto 4.75 years ago. Lost 100+lbs of fat and a foot off the belt. With weight training, at 62, I'm both stronger & healthier than I was in my 20s or 30s. Eat nothing made in a factory.
In 2021, at 60, I met all my fitness goals; Iโm stronger, healthier, & most importantly happier than Iโve ever been. In 2022 I will exceed these goals. AND grow a ponytail.
Wishing a not just a Merry Christmas, but a heart felt gratitude for all of you here who inspired me, taught me, listened to me, shared your stories, woes, & encouraged me. I could not have lost 100+ lbs & restored my health without this crowd. You are all awesome. ๐

For me, eat less move more was a result, not a cause.
After changing from SAD to a mostly meat menu, my obese lethargy was replaced with a revitalized energy. My dormant interest in weight training was renewed.
At 62, Iโm stronger & healthier than I was in my 20s or 30s.
Squats: three reps at 290lbs (132kg) has been my top weight for a while. But I strive for better depth & though progress is slow, it is apparent. Not bad at 62. Maybe, by the time I'm 63, I'll hit the 300lb goal. Even if I don't, what I can do now is a personal victory.
In the nearly 500,000 years of human existence before modern food & nutritional science, obesity was rare. Food & nutritional scientists are perplexed & have no idea why.
A tavern I used to go to (about 40 years ago) sold hard boiled eggs. We used to get them out of their shells by โegg blowing.โ Does anyone else do this?

Keto isnโt just low to no carbohydrates in your diet. Itโs also a real food diet. That is, eat nothing made in a factory: no seed oils. And avoid or eliminate synthetic sweeteners.

3 weeks ago the first time I exercised with Rings I was unable to even hold myself suspended. Every time I use them I do better. Be persistent and have the tenacity of a bulldog.

1) Since my weight gain to ~300 lbs, and my subsequent return to health & well being, I'm 195 now, over the past two years, I've taken more than a passing interest in diet, exercise, nutrition, health, & public policy. Not only have I learned much in the this forum(& podcasts)..
Deadlifts are a new movement in my routine, I added them about 4 months ago. Set one was 10 reps at 170lbs. Not bad at 61, but Iโm always looking to improve. Honest critique is appreciated.

For those who think weight training isnโt cardio, put 270lbs (122kg) on your shoulders & do some deep knee bends. Not bad for a 62 year old. At 57 I was some 300lbs (136kg.) I changed myself. So can you.
Push-ups: I just did a PB of 2 sets of 10. A short while ago I could do 0.

I typically donโt consider 2 reps to be a set. But, at 190lbs itโs a Personal Best to start the new near. Six months ago this would have crushed me. At 61 Iโm the strongest Iโve ever been. Progress is not fast, but progress is better than regress. Never stop believing in yourself
In my lifetime, theyโve spent hundreds of billions on cancer research. Maybe into the inflation adjusted trillions. And they learn this just now? If I didnโt know better, Iโd think medical research was a scam to enrich scientists both corporate & academic.
Have you ever fixed a computer by turning it off then back on? You donโt need to know how the inside of something works to fix it. Your metabolism is the same way. Stop eating โfoodโ made from sugars, seed oils, & grains & you will fix yourself. Meat heals.
About 44 hours fasted, now itโs time lunch/dinner at the Rio Picanha in West Covina, California. You guys would love this place. And the picanha is awesome.
I used to break my yolks. Then the government said runny yolks were unhealthy, so I stopped breaking yolks. Prepared in ghee & sided with chorizo. I lost 100+lbs eating like this.
