I'm really shocked, honored, and humbled to learn I won a bursary for
@GrantaMag
's six-month memoir-writing workshop... My summer is cut out for me... It was competitive, and I'd like to share links to the pieces in the comments...
I'm so very honored to be publishing my chapbook, Dancing Backwards Towards Pluperfect, with
@diodeeditions
. Big gratitude to Patty Paine, Law Alsobrook, and Zoe Shankle Donald! I'm looking forward to working together. You do such fabulous work.
Congrats also winners/finalists!
It's nice to be on the longlist. Congratulations to all of the winners and thank you
@Wigleaf
,
@laughingyeti
, and
@MauriceRuffin
and readers for all of your hard work! And thank you,

The
@Wigleaf
Top 50 2024 & the Longlist are up! Thank you to our Guest Selecting Editor
@MauriceRuffin
& to our Readers & Associate Series Editors! Letβs celebrate writers, readers, & journalsβall for very short fictions. All for the love: ! β€οΈπ»β¨
Getting a poem published in a journal I totally love. Around 50 rejections. Lesson: Don't give up on your poems. Get feedback from people you trust. Keep on.
It is nice during a fucked up time in history to come to Twitter and see a small group of people practicing kindness, sharing each other's work, and making a small positive thing within a lot of chaos and existential shit. These are hard times. Thank u for being in my community.
Happy to have a new Wuthering Heights erasure poem/collaged drawing thing in
@thebeavermag
's latest issue. Thank you, Ellery Beck, Haley Winans, Shallom Johnson, and the whole staff for your hard work.

My rejectability is so powerful I received a second rejection today from a single submission. I had to send them my "Sorry but I only accept one rejection per submission" form letter.
Pleased to have work in
@Heroin_Chic_Mag
. Thanks so much editors! Be sure to check out the whole issue (link on my timeline). Thank you for checking it out. I'm still AWOL but wanted to show up with gratitude. Lovely issue, congrats everyone.
Had a poem about narcissism picked up by one of my favorite journals, San Pedro River Review today (they are lovely to work with). Another nice b-day gift (it's very near)... Counting my blessings today and always.
@cjsarett
, happy to be issue mates.
Humbled and honored to be on this BoTN list for cover art for Gone Lawn. Thanks so much,
@Owen_Wyke
,
@Amygcb
! I appreciate it. Congratulations and good luck everyone!
I'm really grateful to the journals publishing my suicide loss writing, but my advice to non-poetry stars (like me) is keep your grief work sacred and private until you get to a more level place in your journey. Having your grief rejected and criticized is utterly devastating.
I'm happy to have new asemic work and an erasure poem/collage/drawn thing in the wonderful new issue of
@diodeeditions
. Very glad to be issue mates with
@catkinspoet
too! Check out her powerful poem and the whole issue. Congrats everyone.
I'm so thrilled to get three acceptances instead of three rejections tonight--from Querencia Press for their winter anthology!!! Thank you
@QuerenciaPress
and
@emily_perkovich
!
You can now preorder my chapbook from
@DiodeEditions
! It will be available in October or sooner! Thank you Patty Paine, Law Alsobrook, Alex Wanas, and Zoe Donald!

Suicide β I wrote this tribute/epistolary poem for the New Zealand poet, Paula Harris, who died by suicide a year ago. Iβm glad it has a home in
@Heroin_Chic_Mag
thank you,
@diaz_james
for publishing it. Read more below...
Thank you writers and editors who have given me camaraderie/support over the last several years. I've met some lovely folks in lit but it is also a very tough, cliquey, and sometimes hurtful place to navigate, so thank you from the bottom of my heart. Happy new year to y'all!

Thank you to all the journals publishing working-class writing. A person would be daft to not notice the elitism in American publishing. One thing I love about Twitter is interacting with Irish and UK writers who aren't afraid to discuss class...
Our Winter Anthology is out today! This unthemed collection features 46 contributors across poetry, fiction, cnf, & hybrid work. Themes vary widely, and as with all of our titles, this should be read with care β¨ link in bio!
One of the things I respect about
@Heroin_Chic_Mag
is they think all voices matter including working-class writers and others who may not have the privilege of college or expensive MFA programs. What are your favorite journals that publish working-class writers?
I feel like I'm a bad lit citizen, but I'm going to be AWOL a bit as I deal with the shit storm life is throwing at me which is consuming all my energy, unfortunately. Be well.
If you want to get published, write like "successful" poets. If you want to be an artist, find your own voice. Work that is like something else is always easier to publish. I call this the "is like" syndrome. Work that challenges will always have a tough road.
Honored to have this 'lil piece in
@reckonreview
today. Thank you,
@CharlotteHam504
for your patience and editing. The hallmark of a good editor is meeting the writer where they are coming from. Charlotte does just that. TY also,
@mgnlcs
and staff!

@undermeyou
! You did such a wonderful job! Thank you,
@antiheroinchic
for publishing this piece the first time around. It is one of my favorites. Link in comment
i was going to send some chaps and submit to some things, but i am behind in everything right now, and well... the good news is I got three acceptances yesterday and today for some wonderful pubs... I did send to, so counting my blessings. more soon...
OVER THE MOON about this Pushcart nomination for my moon piece. Congratulations everyone,
@SusanTriemert
,
@kimmagowan
and the rest of you (sorry I don't have your handles)!
Very happy to have a poem accepted for
@fifthwheelpress
's garden anthology!!!! And that a piece published by
@MERliterary
is getting another incarnation! What a good way to end a year.
It's b-day which I generously share with Lord Byron. I was born in a severe storm--still don't have my car going (dead with stuck hood), so it's kind of perfect. I gladly accept coffee gifts and consider acceptances on this day (hint). I only have a couple subs out. Happy Monday!
Sharing this one more time. Thanks
@Wigleaf
. And thanks,
@Moonpark
for publishing it the first time, and
@MythicPicnic
for publishing it the second. It's an honor to be on the longlist for Wigleaf Top 50. Also, love this art by Lesley Weston.
I received a gorgeous blurb for my book yesterday... Lucky to have blurbs from writers I REALLY admire... This blurb reminds me of how good it feels when someone gets you in all your Aquarian weirdness, but I know that can't be a reason to write... but still... ππππππ€ π
My 7th grade English teacher stopped today and talked for a long time. Offered to be my lawnmower guy with his fancy new mower. He was first person who treated me like a writer and is such a kind person... Been pretty blessed throughout my life including now by you twitter peeps
I'm really blown away by the sharing and support I've received from writers on Twitter (and editors too). Sharing work is really powerful. I appreciate you.... bunches. Just needed to say it some more. Thank you!
Thrilled for these poems, Wuthering Heights erasures and photos in Anvil Tongue this month. Thank you, Daniel Garraun and editors! Thanks also
@EunoiaReview
, Feral Poetry,
@Dreich25197318
, and
@ND_Quarterly
for first pubs of some of these
On a happier note, I received a year-end acceptance for two poems (including one of a few sonnets I've written) for The Dead of Winter Anthology. I feel really blessed as this year comes to an end. Thanks folks for all your support.
So pleased to have written and visual poems in
@Heroin_Chic_Mag
! Thank you James and editors for all your work. Let's welcome their new social manager, Louise Van Oel. James has done a great job at social and deserves a break--I'm sure Louise will rock!
On sale now!
This collection of poetry from over 50 poets aims to capture the post-holiday period of winter. Our hope is to explore that atmosphere and serve as a companion through the bright, cold days and the long, dark nights.

I've posted before about them, but San Pedro River Review is still open for another week or so. They usually get back to you in a week, and publish a print journal like clockwork (usually within a month). And they are only two mortals. They're amazing.
sometimes i come back to my work years later--with true reader eyes, and I think, wow, it's like your were speaking in tongues or something. where did that shit even come from?
I am VERY excited to announce a passion project thatβs coming out in January/Februaryβ¦
Duets!!
My art in conversation with words and art by many (not all - I need a volume 2) of my writing communityβ¦
A love letter of gratitudeβ¦
Hereβs the last piece of art made for it:
My website is also Aquarian and turns five today. I built it to promote a book five years ago that was never released. It's sort of an adhoc sprawling thing that needs revamping, but it's updated today, and I'm so fortunate to have a different book coming out this year with Diode
I'm happy to have some asemic art in
@upthestaircase
today. Thank you,
@aprilmbratten
and editors. Congratulations everyone! Look forward to reading the issue.
Eligible pubs and not??? Gathered up my visual, writing, and hybrid pubs and things for the entire year, should you be interested... End-of-year organizing. Thanks for looking.
It's lovely to see this cool graphic again. Please check out my poems in this issue if you haven't. And check out the entire issue. Bonus: there is a bunch of queer writing in this issue!!
Seem to be losing followers. When I'm really boring, I try to stay home. Also, I notice there are always clever people on Twitter with things to say every day (and all day long), so sorry I'm not entertaining all the time or even most of the time. I'm still a decent gargoyle.
Thank you again,
@milkandcakepr
for including 2 poems in this beautiful anthology. You guys are marvelous. Congrats everyone! This poem is in some state of sonnetness. And no, I don't argue about forms. Thank you for checking it out.
If any journals signed the bogus "fair-for-all" petition, do make it public so I can avoid you. Seriously... Waiving fees for marginalized people is a way of inviting diverse voices. The "conflation" assertions in this document are typical right-wing perversion of language. Yawn.
I have only one publishable piece left... out at one journal... Have worked so hard to place all my offspring... I might take the year off (while I work on book stuff) and work on my word/art projects.... Grateful to those who gave homes to my work...ππππ
