I just convinced my employer to buy the Pluslife tester, require all employees to mask, get an office HOCl generator, and give us pto if we get the 'rona or bird flu.
I'm in the hospital lobby and an employee goes to grab a mask from the desk. Her coworker in scrubs slaps her hand, saying you don't need a mask๐ซ
Hippocratic oath died with public health or what?
I am sitting in a staff meeting online. 2 peeps in office, 1 has COVID and is wearing a baggy blue with her nostrils peeking out. Other person has no mask on. The office has a HEPA with UV, N95s, and a PAPr. We actually have the tools. Not one person is using them๐
RATs are pretty useless these days. I'm hopefully nearing the end of my illness. I've tested negative on 12 RATs and 1 PCR. BUT my dogs are sick too so I did a fecal test on one with a Flowflex RAT and my dog's sample was positive. Maybe we're all swabbing the wrong holes?๐ฌ
My kid's therapist is leaving. She wanted 1 last session in person. I opted out. She lets kids unmask in session, has LC. Why does she have to tell my kid I'm overreacting. What's a normal reaction when 1 asks if they can expose your kid one last time in a dual pandemic?
Went to Costco yesterday. Was one of a handful masking. It's been a while but it totally feels 'normal'. People staring, giving side eye, an asshat taking a photo.
That's what it feels like being the only Black (or othered) person in a space. If you didn't already know๐คท๐พ
@chronic_dyke
Totally crap verbiage, Iโll admit however itโs not in any way intended to be eugenic or ableist. Person is very much exhibiting early dementia, strange behaviors, loss of function cognitively. I am the only one who would be saying anything or noticing their health deterioration.
@98throwaway
Adamantly masking and staying the office 'weirdo'.
I don't remove my mask ever in the office.
I have 2 mini HEPAs in my cubicle.
Schedule off hours so there's less/no others.
Sharing (scaring) everyone with my LC experiences.
@Imani_Barbarin
Very closely. First year of COVID, only a couple of my clients got threatened with involuntary psych ward visits for requesting any LC treatment. Now it happens pretty frequently ๐ก
Please spread the word. If any teens 12-17 need a safe space we have shelter available in Paia at Maui Youth and Familyย ย services. Call 808-2808899 or 1 (503) 747-8012
@CovidSolidarit1
Undoubtedly. Also is responsible for increase in Diabetes type 2 but Diabetes type 3 can present as memory issues also. I am guessing that is significantly undercounted/undocumented these days
@danaparish
Not even their own families are connecting the dots. My friend just dropped dead at home. 26 yo mother to a toddler. No one is even willing to consider it had anything to do with her recent COVID infection๐
@helenaddy
@TriceramisUBI
It can come close but nothing else feels quite like cramps IMO. It does work wonders for pain. Iโm hooked up to my TENS unit rn on 12
@98throwaway
Unfortunately, it's largely privilege of having established healthcare and disease mitigation repoir with my employer since the before times. And being comfortable enough to point out her brain damage and noticeably different functioning from a recent covid infection she had๐ซ
Icing on the cake: Discussed seeing increase of conjunctivitis and acknowledged C-word as a factor and how much it's been getting dismissed. Most docs out here have a totally blank face when I talk about the C word ๐ณ
@NBA_fan_2014
@bitterbichon
I'd install CO2 monitors and HEPAs in all the institutions for starters. Then I'd have to go into hiding, based on my experience working with other public health entities.๐ซ
@LauraMiers
Some of our teachers aren't even allowed to discuss it in the classroom with students. At all. If they were out sick, they were told they couldn't tell the kids why they were absent without getting in trouble.
@iseeuliars
My swiss cheese for high risk situations: nasal spray, lumify eye drops, hand sanitizer bracelet, mask with boob tape, portable HOCl spray and HEPA filter in purse. Pepper spray for backup๐ท
@Jensays_Hi
I did. It didn't go well at first. Never does. But then stuff sinks in. Often takes telling the person 3 times on average for them to notice
@helenaddy
@TriceramisUBI
I have a Auvon unit which was inexpensive on Amazon, and a really expensive one that has IFC and NMES. Both work well but the cheaper one is my go to. Just make sure you have good electrode pads.
@chronic_dyke
Iโve been handling COVID and LC cases all pandemic so person is extra super mega tired of COVID discussion at all. I want to know how others have handled this.
@amandalhu
Being forced to write an After Action Review for our state's schools to review how they did 'during the pandemic' by PH orgs(who should resign) and then being alone at work working on the final draft because everyone is out with COVID.
@thebadseed2
Itโs a very real issue. When I was tracing cases, a large amount of folk had dementia-like symptoms. All ages but especially those over 40. Itโs one of the most missed symptoms because someone else usually has to identify it.
What would this state look like if majority kanaka maoli had elected positions? Would we still be drinking spicy water on Oahu or letting billionaires buy up all the land?
@keetmuise
It's not just a loss of taste and smell, it's brain damage...
It's not just the pool that causes shrinkage.
There is no cure for Long COVID
Bad air quality can effect brain function.
There are no COVID treatments for children outside of the hospital.
@cycl0mmatus
Same. I'd want to know and ask periodically but no one wants to talk about it. Person doesn't want to have that convo even though I've been tracking symptoms the whole time and have appropriate resources ๐
2.5 years ago, many of the cases I was investigating wouldn't resolve. Every hospitalized case had thrombocytopenia and/or acute organ damage upon discharge. Ones with any inflammation to begin with ended up with ongoing COVID symptoms-GOUT/GERD, asthma, arthritis, etc

We need COVID tracking & reporting, consistent & accurate data
collection,
research for LC and treatments, COVID pto -20 days like CDC gets- treatments for kids, accomodations for work and school, UBI. In a minute we'll all be disabled. Together.

@frogess33
So much rest. For mine, fluids, xylitol nasal sprays or neti pot, zicam, c,d,zinc, melatonin, mullein, chlorophyll. Fight symptoms, keep viral load as low as possible. Keep doing it for after care. It's working so far 6 months later.
@wtflanksteak
99.99% The last one I worked with openly admitted he didn't know what he was doing, delegated his tasks to everyone else, barely showed up for work and was given a promotion. I wish I had the confidence of a mediocre yt man.
@mildanalyst
Not many will make it to 10. Each infection is more destructive than the one before. Throw in an encounter with MPX, Polio, etc. That's a wrap.
@LowlyWorm2022
Yes. Nearly everyone in my C activism groups has gone back to not masking or doing any other mitigations. I wanted to go out and party when I got infected. Thatโs how I knew I needed to test. I hate going out. I knew my brain was acting odd.
@MeetJess
Pets get it and give it. I had several cases who got it from the neighbor's dog, the dog park, & their own dog when an infected person was quarantining in house. We lost a lion last year. Sealife Park tests their mammals regularly for COVID.
@BornAt3B
It's inappropriate in the most regular of circumstances. People's behavior has been so extra lately, I didn't even say anything, which is unusual for me
#BurntOut
@1goodtern
The whole friggin' time. I tried on several occasions to initiate a study since the beginning because almost every hospitalized case had a thrombotic Dx. Health dept refused. Ignored. Punished. I'm happy to see studies finally coming out.
My first LC cases were indigenous Americans. They had severe symptoms that wouldn't resolve. My next ones were Marshallese, then Filipino, then Chuuk. Out of my first 100 cases of LC, nearly all were Pasifika. The ensuing info blackout began making so much sense.
@EnemyInAState
For as heavily militarized as this state is, there is absolutely no good reason for this to be happening. Please donate what you can to reputable Maui folk and orgs. The government never comes through for locals ๐คฌ

Where else in the country can claim 93k as "low income"? Cost of living is insane here. Everything is taxed including groceries. $700 barely feeds a household of 3 for a month. Most families here are much larger than that. Everything is expensive as hell except the postcards.
@ValerieJay16
They punished, fired, demoted, threatened, gaslit, and abused many of us out of the field. Those of us who refused to go away or shut up, they've cut off our access to data, the public, or resources to do any real PH work.
@AMannanBaig
This isn't new but why is ocular infection overlooked here? That is a very obvious mode of transmission. I've seen countless cases infected that way, also with cognitive consequences. Masks AND eye protection are key to stop transmission.
Nearly everyone has had it now. A majority of folks have brain damage and a minority of them are aware. One of the most common symptoms is not being able to self ID the COVID ๐ง issues. 1 of the most common symptoms is ๐ง damage. We need transparency.

@Imani_Barbarin
Today, this day, it's happening in Hawaii. They still hide away and lock up a good portion of the disabled folk or restrict access to society as much as possible in every way. We hardly even have sidewalks or wheelchair accessible anything.
@AmyKosari
This is wildly inaccurate and a great example of how some spiritual leaders are killing their flock. Misinformation is deadly and if you're in leadership, it's your responsibility to do better.
@Imani_Barbarin
Try telling them about it and they melt down quick. My whole COVID activism group hemorrhaged API and brown folk constantly because the yt folk freaked out every time eugenics got mentioned. Even with solid data.They just wanted nice, civilized talk. That group is no more.
@1goodtern
Same. I wrote the disease safety guidance for schools statewide this year, incl. air filtration. Our DOH won't enforce and still won't even acknowledge LC, or transmission in schools. At least 1 of our pvt schools has CO2 monitors installed in every room. Must be nice to have $
@kananibabe
No. Tourism is disgusting and disrespectful. It's very rape-y. Temporary, destructive, disconnected, violating, and reeking of entitlement.
@CovidSolidarit1
Congestion, headache, unusual desire to socialize in person, rage, elevated ADHD. Ongoing/6 months later: Early menopause, night sweats, issues processing information, joint pain. Did not die= mild๐คท๐พ

She knows better. Iโm one of โthemโ. I helped her plan mitigations in her office when this started and walked her through her LC.
That it was real. The health dept refused to acknowledge LC. No one was following up on the infected. They still don't. Even after cases began having repeat infections. We were instructed not to document those and create new files for each infection.
