I chose closer because I saw the last run and how important the bullpen was. That group never really had a true leadoff hitter, and they still won.

through two games:
0 runs (first time in KC history)
.105 BA (worst in KC history)
8 TB (worst in KC history)

Asked Sal Perez if he felt a playoff vibe tonight. He smiled and said, "36-37,000 people? That’s pretty cool. And the weather, too, kind of chilly a little bit. October baseball."
In Brett Phillips first 4 games as a starter for the Royals, he‘s hit .267/.313/.600 with 4 hits, 2 being doubles and 1 a home run. He’s made three spectacular defensive plays and shown off the 100mph+ arm.
If you like watching entertaining baseball, watch Phillips play.
It's been over two years since the Kansas City Royals fired general manager Dayton Moore, but it's hard to deny that he deserves some credit for the team's success this season.

Kyle Isbel is 𝐒𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 hot at the plate. 🔥
In his last 15 games with an at-bat since June 8, Isbel is batting .333 (15-for-45) with 6 extra-base hits for a .622 slugging percentage and .989 OPS.

Moustakas could easily be a Royals HoF when it’s all said & done. What he helped create in KC is going to be hard to replicate.
On his way out he inadvertently helped push KC in the right direction in the rebuild.
Will miss seeing Moose play 3B. Best of luck in MIL!
Never Forget when Yordano Ventura pitched the game of his life in game 6 of the World Series dedicated to his best friend Oscar Taveras who died 3 days earlier 😭❤
Jon Jay did exactly what the Royals needed him to do. Played solid defense. Played consistent at the plate. And played at a high enough level to be flipped.
Royals got the 26th ranked prospect in Arizona’s system and a potential bullpen arm starting in AA.
Thank you Jon Jay!
Crazy that the Royals will have players who led the American League in home runs and hits and still finished with the record they did. Pitching, pitching, pitching.

Nelson Velázquez's last 15 games (Apr. 20 to May 9):
46 PA, 3 H, 2 2B, 0 HR, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 15 K
Good for a .071/.152/.119 line
This man is LOST.
Brandon Maurer officially has a 14.25 ERA this year and a 10.41 ERA as a Royal.
If he isn’t the worst pitcher in franchise history I would be shocked.
Make the right move here Royals. DFA him and let him walk.

offensive rankings among MLB teams:
BA - 29th
OBP - 30th
OPS - 29th
Runs Scored - 28th
HRs - 25th
SBs - 18th
Not a long going right at first glance for these bats.
That was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen at a baseball game. Thank you to Hosmer, Moose, Cain, and Esky for allowing us to be a part of one of most special times in KC history.
Congrats to former Royals Lorenzo Cain and Mike Moustakas (and Joakim Soria and Jeremy Jeffress) on making the Postseason! Kansas City will be here supporting you guys!

shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. had his 16th multi-hit game of the 2024 season.
It is tied with NL MVP frontrunner and
#Dodgers
star Shohei Ohtani for the most this season. Bobby Baseball is HOT!!! 🔥
If Brady Singer's night is over, he deserves a healthy ovation.
7 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 7 K

Apparently...
If the Royals would have played the young players all year they’d be World Series favorites. That’s what I’m getting from these last few Series.
We appreciate the

season. But at this point, you have our blessing to use him.
In Brett Phillips first at-bat with the Royals.
The Yankees hit him on a 3-2 count.
*adds this moment to the list of reasons why I don’t like the Yankees*
I understand the Royals are bad this year. I also understand that the Royals will lose a lot of games.
But I don’t understand the consistent use of bad veterans.
The Kansas City Royals highlight of the day is Yordano Ventura dominating game 6 of the 2014 World Series to force a game 7.
One of the greatest performances by Yordano. I’ll never forget this one. RIP Ace!
“Adalberto Mondesi can’t hit big league pitching.”
2018 numbers:
.250/.270/.444 with 8 XBH
July numbers (10 games):
.297/.316/.514 with 4 XBH
Last 9 games:
.324/.343/.559 with 4 XBH
Since his call up June 17 he hasn’t started 3 games.
Amazing what consistent ABs can do.

Rosell Herrera since joining the Royals 25-man roster:

.278/.278/.556 with a .833 OPS.
Of his 5 hits, three are extra-base hits (1 double and 2 triples)
Thank you Cincinnati (x2)

MJ Melendez is on an absolute TEAR
in his last seven games:

In case you had started taking for granted what the
#Royals
accomplished in 2014 and 2015, let this remind you that it is incredibly hard to reach even one World Series—not to mention two in consecutive years.
Alex Gordon has won 6 Gold Gloves playing LF.
Salvador Perez has won 5 Gold Gloves playing Catcher.
Both are going to/have already run out of mantle space.
Congratulations Gordon and Perez!
In quiet news as well, Paulo Orlando signed a minor league deal with the LA Dodgers.
This now puts the Royals at just 4 players (Perez, Gordon, Duffy, Mondesi) from the 2015 World Series team still with the Royals.
It’s crazy how much can change in a short 3-4 year span!
Lucas Erceg freezes Trea Turner for strike 3, and that is the ballgame, folks!

Garrett Hampson entering today, after the All-Star break: .180/.212/.220, good for a .432 OPS and 15 wRC+.
The utility man is 85% worse than a league-average batter, yet he has still appeared in 23 of Kansas City's 33 games since the All-Star game.
Sources: Cuban 3B José Luis Cerice (18) will sign with the Kansas City Royals when a new international signing period opens January 15, 2024.
The native of Havana was the third baseman with Cuba U-18 National team in 2022. According to several scouts he has the athletic
Rosell Herrera is quiet a find for the Royals.
Since being claimed off waivers from Cincinnati, he has been one of the better offensive players.
Hitting .289/.328/.412 over 29 games in Kansas City and .276/.311/.386 on the season.
