Call me a crazy, sentimental old fool, but I love the sound of listening to a baseball game on the radio about as much as anything. Nothing else sounds like it. Nothing.
You know who I feel bad for? Not me. Not as a fan. I’ve been a Reds fan my whole life and I’m old and I don’t have a lot of expectations anymore tbh. I’m just along for the ride.
But Joey Votto deserved better this year. He absolutely did.
Y’all. I cried through most of the game because I was so overwhelmed at being *that close* to the actual game. The sounds. The feel. Just…everything. And a lot more. But enough about that. I’ll never forget it.
I tell ya what, I sincerely love the Reds rally montages on the big screen. I love baseball. I love this city. I love my team. Thick or thin, good or bad, up or down. This is my baseball team.
Go Reds.
Best question I’ve ever heard: 11 yr old kid just asked India, Steer and Ashcraft if he would ever see the Reds win a World Series in his lifetime.

I won’t lie. I knew I would be emotional when this game came. But y’all. I’ve watched this man play baseball for 16 years. I’ve believed in him, defended him, let him be part of the game that held me together in some yucky times. Maybe I needed this almost as much as he did.❤️
My dad always spoke of him in awe, as a Reds pitcher on the BRM, but also as an elite high school athlete playing everything in Greenup Co.
Gullett was one of my Reds pitcher heroes, even though I was too young to remember seeing him pitch in person. My heart hurts over this.❤️🩹
The Cincinnati Reds offer condolences to the family and friends of Reds Hall of Fame pitcher Don Gullett, who died today at age 73.
Reds CEO Bob Castellini said, "Don dedicated 24 years to this franchise as a player, coach and minor league instructor. An anchor on the pitching
It rained & was cold, we blew a transformer on the pole outside the venue & didn’t have electricity for about 3.5 hrs, we ran out of bourbon & had to send for more, my head fell off the cake, but
@JohnFischesser
and I had one heck of a wedding. 💕 Thanks for all the wishes!
Friendly reminder to all my Reds buddies…Reds ownership & quite frankly none of their FO will see the upset tweets you send to
@Reds
. You don’t have to @ them when you’re mad. Hashtag it. Type it. Do whatever. Just letting you know the people who see it can’t change anything.
My heart is full. For a moment, I had so many of my favorite people sitting here. Felt like the old days…when Twitter was still a good place & we were all bonding over our passion for the Reds. When we all spent all summer loving baseball & all winter waiting for it to come back
Some late night ramblings…
…I think I appreciate Will Benson about as much as anyone on this team right now. The kid started the season lost, struggling, just not on point. Got sent down. Instead of sulking or getting lost worse, he worked, fixed, tweaked and came back on fire
When you decide to get over your own self confidence and body issues and wear a normal bathing suit and then you cover yourself up as much as possible BUT YOURE WORKING ON IT 😑🤣 Here’s hoping a don’t find a rip tide. 🤷🏻♀️
I mean, after suffering through April and having my eyelids nearly freeze off watching this team lose and lose badly, I’m enjoying watching some competitive, good baseball. THIS IS THE TEAM I KNEW EXISTED.
Go Reds.
I just told a 7 yr old Cubs/Astros fan on a 30 stadium tour of the MLB sitting in front of me to watch that at bat because Joseph Daniel Votto was one of the greatest of his time.
I’m not sorry.
Before I came into the park today, I watched a family in line. I overheard their excitement and how this is a rare treat for them. They were snapping pics and chattering. Sometimes it’s just ok to be happy to be somewhere, despite the score. It was a good reminder. 😉
No big deal. Just my wife out here making front page news. BTW, her persistence paid off. 3CDC is stepping up to fix the problem. Proud of you
@KyRedsGal
Bought this dress a million years ago for a work cocktail event. Haven’t fit in it in a (long) while. Despite my best efforts not to today, amazingly, it did zip. 🤷🏻♀️ Proof to never. give. up.
When baseball has meant as much to someone as it has me, this is hard. Reds baseball was Marty and Joe from birth. Their voices were my bridge to home when I was so far away and broken and what I lived for from April through September. I’ve dreaded this day for a long time. 💔
I’m sorry some people don’t like the way I look. Heck, *I* don’t like the way I look 98.73% of the time. But I’m also pretty glad as a grown ass woman I’m finally confident enough that I don’t have to explain my looks to anyone either. 😇✌🏼
Popping in to say something controversial and then disappearing a bit…you know who would have been GREAT to have around when our young stars are struggling or out of sync?

There are a lot more shades of gray than black and white lines here on earth.
And that’s why it’s okay to be sad about the loss of someone who was a very complicated fellow, but still so very important to so many for so many reasons.
Rest in peace, Pete.

From Opening Day to the last home game of the season, with so many in between…every year…it’s pretty good to share with your ride or die. ❤️
@JohnFischesser
And we say “Go Reds.”
Several years ago, on this day, I escaped to Florida for some time to breathe. This picture was taken on the beach. I tweeted it, as much as anything as proof of life. Heh. A guy told me it was a pretty picture. I remembered him saying that. And I reminded him today. 😉
I won’t lie. I don’t mean to be a negative downer this evening, but of all the disappointments this season, this is quite possibly the biggest one. This is at least 3rd or 4th year of these planters standing full of weeds. And several of us have tried to figure out how to fix it.
I’ve watched the Reds run dudes out every season of my life who couldn’t hit more than .200 with an ironing board. No roster in baseball has 9 guys hitting .300+. If they can’t figure out a way to bring Votto back for less than that option, they really will will hurt my soul.
Despite (some) opposition, I will continue to tweet my opinions about the the Cincinnati Reds baseball club and I will also continue to have fun. Fun is allowed. For fans and players. Go baseball. Go sportsball. Yay. Go Reds. *cartwheels*
We’ve all waited for a long time for just a glimmer of something good in a complete cesspool of bad, especially this year. But for a little while tonight, us Reds fans have had a respite of all the misery this year has thrown at us.
Cheers, my friends.
“Not 30 seconds into Opening Day and she’s already crying,”
@pancake_2020
(after the Don Gullett remembrance video piece).
🤷🏻♀️ She’s not wrong.
Happy Opening Day, y’all. ❤️⚾️
Here’s the thing—welcome to our ballpark, Atlanta fans. Or any opposing team. Your guy smashes it and knocks it out? You cheer and yell your heads off. You earned it.
But don’t be doing that chop thing here. Seriously. The chop isn’t welcome.
Marty shirts. Marty radio on with just the right amount of fuzz. Sitting in the ballpark. Last home game of the year. Last ever Marty broadcast. My heart.
Might have almost fallen over AND through the red plastic barrier fence as I was enthusiastically encouraged into this photo opp with Joey Votto at the

photo day. Never clenched my muscles so hard as to keep from sprawling into Votto’s feet. 🫣

I made the mistake of reading the comments to the Reds’ manager hire for the first time today.
I swear, some of you people are as miserable as some of the people in my family, and let me just say, that’s spectacularly miserable.
I swear y’all. These kids crack me up. They make dumb mistakes and figure out how to fix them because they never give up. It’s like a movie. HOW CAN YOU NOT BE ROMANTIC ABOUT BASEBALL???
#Reds
Winner winner chicken dinner. Got a second game selfie with
@JohnFischesser
because this game was infinitely more enjoyable, even with the girl throwing up on the stairs beside us.
One of the reasons I love baseball is because it doesn’t always make sense & sometimes you should follow your heart. That’s why Joey Votto should be in a Reds uniform next year.
And if you don’t understand, maybe you should watch Field of Dreams and remember why for a minute💕
I may be a literal trainwreck in most categories these days, but you can bet your tootsies I voted today (and always). You still have time if you haven’t!

I’m ready for the baseball season to start. I need the cadence of the game and the feeling of my people as a community. How can you not be romantic about baseball?
There will be people...experts, even...who will downplay this achievement and act like it isn’t a big deal. Do NOT let them steal your joy, Reds fans. Soak up every moment of this.
Here’s a hot take for you. If your hot take designed to get you traction on social media is MEAN toward someone or a group of people, then it isn’t really a hot take. It’s just mean. And I’m not sure when some people decided it was ok to be mean, because it isn’t. Ever.
A lot of people in this town know I’m a huge Reds fan, so one of the most fun things right now is having *everyone* see you and say “girl! How about your Reds?!” I’m a little emotional every time.
