@amcampbell84 I would have told anybody else in my circumstances (first marriage) that what they were going through was abuse. But didn't see it for myself until a year or two after the divorce. The brain does weird things to protect itself. I hope you are healing.

Many years later, after much in the way of personal growth and stability, I am with someone who treats me well and my needs are equal to his own.

@JessupShannon When I worked and was basically a single mom in a small, religious, conservative town in IN, my daughter would walk from our apartment to the library or to my friend's house to hang out. People said walking through our tiny downtown in shorts was "being like a prostitute." Damn!

@Bec_Shrader As someone who only saw two of my babies on ultrasound before they passed, I had a sonographer who was very empathetic with me and made me feel seen and not alone at a very difficult time in my pregnancy with twins. Thank you for what you do. You are heaven sent.

@RoryOCleary I'm sorry you had to deal with that, Rory. When I was new to insulin, I was embarrassed at "shooting up" in public. But bathrooms are icky; I *need* the med; and if people don't like seeing me prep my insulin, etc., then by golly, they can jolly well quit staring. UGH.

@adamfare1996 Neither do I. I understand a push for it -- continuity of care in a medical setting perhaps; or 3 days on/4 days off. But end of shift can be a time for more mistakes as exhaustion sets in, and there may not be time for enough sleep for the following morning's refreshment.

@ronsterd89 My dad used to crumble & fry the meat, drain off most of the fat, sprinkle some garlic, salt &pepper in the pan, add some flour to coat the meat, then add milk to make a gravy. Put on top of toast. Inelegantly called hamburger gravy, it's similar to SOS made with chipped beef.

@ladymitopinion @arbs63 My daughter was ostracized at our church, too, for wearing black and claiming to be a Christian Goth. She wasn't allowed to participate in certain things. Meanwhile, other teens in the youth group were having sex and getting drunk. But it didn't "show".

@BunAndLeggings My 38yo fondly remembers the nights I put blankets in the bathtub, lots of pillows, and gave her books to read while I listened to the radio on the floor beside her. I was terrified of storms/tornadoes when she was little and prepared for the possibility hours before it got bad.

@LFrostWrites 80 year old mixing bowls that are the same kind my grandmother used when I was growing up as a kid. My parents bought the set from an antique store for me as a 30th birthday present. I love them.

@adamfare1996 My mother had lupus and fibromyalgia. Headaches all the time. She'd work, take part in the household. I knew it was "bad" whenever she'd take to her bed or almost cry. I always wished I could take her pain away when I was young, but never could.

@adamfare1996 I had a meltdown at work once when told we would be team-building in an escape room situation. I absolutely refused. Got some weird interactions about it, but the idea of being in something called an "escape room" with a bunch of people did not sit well with me.

@nathaliejacoby1 In terms of adopting from a shelter, yes. But my daughter actually picks them up from the streets, cleans them up, gets them vetted, and finds them homes. She's a true rescuer. (Also, three that showed up at her house still live with her years later.)

@AutisticCoach_ When I am frozen in place - unable to decide on a course of action. Something as simple as taking a bath - my fav way to relax - can be too daunting and seem impossible to do. I will plan and undo plans over and over and just continue to sit in my chair - mind swirling.

@unsafeturtle I can say Oh my God, but I cringe when I hear "God damn it" and will almost never say it. I also can't say "Jesus Christ" as a curse word, though I can say "Oh, Jesus" when I'm shocked into a sudden prayer.

I've been awake since 5 a.m. - but was fast asleep by 8:15 last night, so that makes sense. Still sore and moving slowly from yesterday's procedure, and I just noticed I still have all my wrist bands on. Just so you know: I'm a fall risk and I'm allergic to penicillin.

My husband's mom passed away on Christmas Eve 41 years ago. Since then, until he married me, he's rarely celebrated the holiday, preferring to treat it as nothing special. So the fact that he's out shopping for stocking stuffers for me right now is a testament of his love to me.

I read a lot of books. I BUY a lot more...with every intention of reading them. At over 3K audio/ebooks, that's not likely to happen before I die. Also, I often buy books that I know I will not read because I just want to support the author. It's buying art for the joy of it.

@Grommit56 Shhhh...don't tell the HOA...but that's exactly what we are doing in our backyard this year. It isn't much, but there's a little habitat for overwintering bees, fireflies, and moths. Maybe a few lizards and toads.
