La vie m'a emmené à Nouméa pour mon master 2, en 2011 : alors étudiant en Nouvelle Zélande, j'y ai découvert un archipel d'une beauté inouïe, une société postcoloniale très raciste, et une ville ultra-ségréguée avec des inégalités abyssales entre Kanak et populations européennes.

Car la Nouvelle-Calédonie est une économie assistée, placée dans un état de dépendance sous perfusion constante : salaires élevés des fonctionnaires, aides économiques, exonérations fiscales etc. La vie est donc très chère - comme le logement.

Les logements sociaux ont permis de compenser un - tout petit - peu la profonde ségrégation socio-ethnique de la ville, en permettent à des populations Kanak et polynésiennes d’accéder aux beaux quartiers historiquement construits sur l'exclusion des gens de couleur.
