It feels like the tide has begun to turn this weekend. Mass public attention on just how ridiculous and blatant the PA project is. The battle is far from over, but there is now significant momentum building, to the point where this farce simply cannot continue for much longer.

The purpose of the creation of the GMC in 1858 was 'to enable the public to distinguish between qualified & unqualified practitioners', yet nowadays the GMC actively pursues policy which blurs the line & makes this distinction increasingly difficult. Is it really fit for purpose?

This is why I’m concerned that Labour will just continue the dangerous PA rollout. Large sections of the left believe that physician-led healthcare is elitist and that opening up medicine to PAs is something which promotes EDI (despite no evidence that this is the case).

@JujuliaGrace Also the idea that only people who went through the 5 years at uni can learn medical skills and deliver good care to patients is just Dr exceptionalism and proves that the Dr’s in the UK genuinely have massive Egos. If you see someone do the PA course you’ll know it’s so intense
