@LBC @mattfrei @Edwina_Currie Leavers don't understand that Remainers never felt unfree to begin with nor unfriendly toward the EU. So they can't accept these two as supposed benefits. Instead they see only the evident, snowballing economic harm and diminution of rights and standards: all pain, no gain.

@councillorian 17.4m voted Leave, 16.1m voted Remain, 12.9m abstained. So only 37% of the electorate voted for change. And most people didn't vote for Brexit-pushing parties in either 2017 or 2019 (don't confuse with FPTP seats). Brexit never had majority support and doesn't now.

The astonishing thing is that LDs will of course work with Labour, but only if Starmer agrees to the very things that most Labour members and voters want, and indeed most of the public want, and which the country most needs, but which Starmer is opposed to: PR and SM membership.

And in Western media It's a war between Israel and Hamas when of course it's not - it's a war on Gaza and a genocide against Palestinians.

@BrugesGroup The democratic mandate was limited to and expired upon the act of leaving the EU on 31 Jan 2020. Leavers need to understand that 'leave' is just as dead as 'remain'. Today's and tomorrow's electorates are free to make whatever decisions they like including rejoining the SM or EU.

@RichardJMurphy First, the superwealthy are not wealth creators - workers and SMEs are. Second, many countries have wealth taxes (such as Spain, Norway and Switzerland) and wouldn't have persisted with them if they generated loss in tax revenue.

@SirSocks UK always had an obligation to the island of Ireland, where people in both the south (Ireland) and the north (NI) didn't vote for Brexit, and just wanted/want their lives to carry on as normal. That meant the UK was free to leave the EU but was duty bound to stay in SM+CU.

@The_TUC That would more than cover scrapping the two-child benefit cap. But neither Tories or Labour will do that. Lib Dems would. Greens would. Both also voted for a ceasefire, so are are the only two parties - in England - any decent person can vote for.

@gershonbaskin It doesn't work like that. The IRA laid down its weapons as part of and following the Good Friday Agreement. Hamas have said they would do the same as part of and following a two-state agreement. That is the sequence: negotiations-agreement-disarmament. Not the other way around.
