In this BTS video, we check out Yutong, the world's largest producer of electric buses, touring their factory, trying out their autonomous buses/pods, and witnessing the extreme lengths they take to ensure the safety of their batteries.👇
Seems those who have been given access to the

SU7 already are not the kind of people you should trust with your brand new motor. Yet another example of one being binned before deliveries even began has surfaced.
Just been to the foot of Banshan in Hangzhou to check out in person what's going on at these so-called car graveyards where supposedly brand new Chinese cars are being sent to die as some kind of incentive laundering scam.
I'll put out a video this week on what I found.
It's such a shame that BMW have binned this car. Not only is it the most 2023-looking car they have but it's absolutely the most appropriate car for this century. Too smart and handsome to be culled without a replacement.
Not sure how official or real these pictures are but they seem to give a pretty accurate idea of the upcoming Li MEGA MPV, which looks more incredible the more you look at it. Roadgoing bullet train.
Introducing, Little Miss Inside China Auto.
As this little beauty has now entered my life, I'll be taking a break from here for a week. Hope yours will be as wonderful and magical as mine. ✌️
Guess there might be a reason the top dog in China chooses Hongqi for his presidential cars, though admittedly 'attack by enormous flaming mace' and 'trebuchet a Changan Alto' would be surprise tactics from any would-be assasins.
Bumper round of EuroNCAP results in and, guess what? That's right, all 8 Chinese cars tested got the full 5 stars. People will keep on throwing shade but these guys are just going to keep on coming.
3am and I'm watching Wales v England with
@JayinShanghai
in the

G9. Quite a novel experience I must say, and the heated seats are a treat with it being so cold outside.
🚨New Video Alert🚨
@XPengMotors
needed to finally pull all their promise together and with the G9 they've done just that. It's luxurious, smart, well-equipped, and as well as adding a tonne of flair it gets the basics right too. The best XPeng by far.👇

We decided to go and check out a 'Chinese EV graveyard' in person to check out claims made in recent YouTube videos and viral posts about new car registration fraud and car sharing failures.
Our short video shows you what we found.👇
Anybody remember when everyone was talking about the Luxeed S7 being the hottest Chinese car of 2024? Arguably better looking than the Xiaomi SU7 (not seen the SU7 in person yet) but haven't seen or heard anything more about it until seeing this one in store today.
Spotted the BYD Song L out in Pudong this morning. Looks brilliant, really sharp, racy design. This could be BYD's coming of age moment in terms of design. It's their best-looking model by far in my opinion.
Xianyu 闲鱼 occasionally offers some real gems. Suspect there will be two different camps over whether an FAW-badged Maestro with leccy windows, wind up sunroof, and adjustable mirrors is worth 58,000RMB (~£6,500) though.
@jonostrower
I just flew with Finnair from Shanghai and we had to go south around the Black Sea which added about another 2 hours to the trip. Seeing explosions to the north in the night sky as we passed south of the warzone though, I was struck with the thought I was the lucky one.
Love this. 80-year-old dude with full-on camera absolutely revelling in the Hongqi EH7 convertible concept. He's probably seen a lot in his time and never imagined Chinese cars could be so cool.
Incredible to think that just 14 years ago, these were the cars Geely was making, and now they've got cars like the Boyue, Zeekr 001, and Lynk&Co 08. It's been quite the transformation. Remarkably this is one of two of these I saw yesterday.

The calls for affordable, no compromises, small EVs on our Geely Panda Mini video come from every corner of the globe
The BYD Seagull has been touted as the answer to those calls.
Does it live up to the hype?
Find out Saturday.

At the start of 2022, I don't think I could have predicted I'd be ending the year watching a 40-inch projection in the back of an
@XPengMotors
P5, but here we are.
Happy New Year everyone!
Stumbled across a Yangwang dealership so took a look at the U8. Mad beast with a lot going on. The leather inside is that harder premium stuff like in the AVATR 11 Matthew Williams edition. Still plenty of BYD style hints like the wood in the doors and centre console...
Some guy in China really loves his Dodge Avenger. Enough to mount it about 7 or 8 storeys up on an ordinary apartment block, where the elements are not treating it too kindly.
Li MEGA. Bold name, bold look. Personally I'm quite drawn to this and suspect it'll be one of those that sits different in real life. Think I'm most excited about the interior though because Lis are just plush as. This is going to move the game on I reckon.
Official pictures of the Aion Hyper HT have been released. Interesting look, gullwing rear doors, coupe-ish rear, interior very similar to the Hyper GT but more family oriented with a reclining front seat.
What do we think? For me, not as elegant as the GT.
@ChinaDriven
It is. Most are lifestyle influencers who know how to grind a half decent coffee and maybe put up one of those tents that springs up by itself, but give them a few hundred horsepower under their right foot and they're clueless.

The 2023 Shanghai Auto Show was probably the most significant in a decade and witnessed an incredible number of new product launches.
Missed out?
We've got you covered. Check out our full show walkthrough. 👇 (Chapters in description.)
Oh wow. First time I've seen this. How far the Chinese auto industry has come. I was only recently noting how it wasn't so long since BYD had copies of the Aygo (F0), Corolla (F8), and Lexus RX (S6).
Today I'm spending an inordinate amount of time speccing out a Zeekr X. This thing is going to upset the apple cart in a big way. Stunning piece of work.

It's only taken us 15 months but we finally convinced
@NIOGlobal
to let us review one of their cars.
The ET5 more than delivers on looks, performance, and cabin ambience, but does it reach the standards of bigger NIOs?
We got up close👇
Your regular reminder that you're getting ripped off in Europe.
£20k in China gets a 45-inch 8k screen, 268hp, 5 big seats, the SEA platform, 341 miles of range, and a tonne more 👇
£16k in the UK gets you 2 seats and 92 miles of range, and that's about it 👇👇
Today's 'Hey look, it's another new Chinese car brand' is Polestones, and this is their first car, which looks like the product of a post-Christmas party romp between a Li Auto and a Land Rover Defender. Handsome thing, mind. Plush materials, good panel gaps...
@ACM_Media
This is just wonderful. Stunning to see what must be a priceless car being properly hounded around the world's most famous circuit. Notice how it looks like there's plenty of space to overtake? Get F1 cars back to this size and Monaco becomes more than just a skill track again.
You're a long way from home
@BYDGlobal
but it's great to see Chinese EVs making it out into Europe. This Atto 3 in Sweden is one of about 6 I've seen already in Gothenburg. Eyes out for an XPeng or NIO next.
This is brilliant and really demonstrates the difference between China and the UK (for example). The UK sent all their manufacturing abroad for cheap labour so their industries died. China took that, learned how to automate it, and now even their budget car brands can do this.
Why Wuling Starlight costs only about 88,000 RMB ($12,000)
Not because of cheaper labour, it's due to mass production automation

This week we'll finally be getting to know this luminous number, the XPeng G6. So glad we got it in the crazy colour and performance trim, though can't help suddenly feeling massively self conscious as a middle-aged man in a bright orange family car.
Last few minutes with the
#NIO
ES7 until
@JayinShanghai
takes her for the day. This is a really accomplished car and they're clearly built and engineered by people who understand what a premium experience is. I'm impressed. Will be fascinating to directly compare to the X5 next.
Drivers from Sichuan have a reputation in China for driving everywhere and badly, so this video of one such driver beaching an AMG GT seems, well, entirely in keeping with that reputation.

Demand for affordable electric cars is rampant and global, our comments section tells us that.
So can the BYD Seagull carry the hopes of the masses and deliver a truly no-compromises package for under £10k?
You bloody bet it can!👇
Couldn't make it to Beijing for the motor show this year?
No worries, we walked every single hall to bring it right to your TV/digital device, so grab a drink and some snacks and see what the Chinese automotive industry has been up to for the last 12 months. 👇

This is interesting. The rather beautiful Exeed Sterra ES was initially reported as having a price range of 248-358k RMB, but it's already revised to 198.8-339.8k, a saving of about £5.5k on the base model. For under £22k that's a lot of car for the money.
All-black Zeekr 009 with touring car-style alloys looks like a luxury performance people mover from BladeRunner or another apocalyptic view of the future. Stealthy.
The clearest look yet at the
@Li_Auto_
MEGA fully electric MPV at their HQ. Li have told us the car is optimised for both aerodynamics and interior space and are claiming 7-Series legroom in the second row and 5-Series in the third. Given how big it looks, I wouldn't doubt it.
Proving that the car scene in China is incredibly regional, I've been in Sanya literally 5 minutes and have seen a Songsan SS, way more Weltmeisters and Aiways' than in any other city, almost as many GAC products as in Guangzhou, a few Haimas, and an MX-5 (never ever see those).
Today I discovered there's a battery-swap capable version of the Roewe ei5, or as those in Europe will know it, the MG 5.
Anybody driving one of these in Europe fancy having this skill unlocked?
Think my favourite concept of the show has to be this Exeed MPV. Enormous presence from the front end and the fancy 'black technology' (read sliding) doors make for an enormous opening.
New Zeekr Europe CEO l, Spiros Fotinos, confirming 001 and X will go to Europe later this year. Focuses will be product, direct to customer, and great service.
Managed to miss this yesterday, the

EC7. Like the ES8 this is really sharp, may well be the most attractive SUV coupe I've seen. Given I'm no fan of SUV coupes, pleasantly surprised by this.
Two days and about 1,500km later, all three of these were troopers, pretty damn good in their own way. The clear difference though? Electric is the 21st century experience. More than that, it's ready. Long distances swallowed up effortlessly with barely any time inconvenience.
Wow.
@Xiaomi
SU7 launch was quite the event. On paper, this car looks to over-deliver straight out the box. Stunning looks, incredible performance and brilliant tech compatible with Xiaomi and Apple products. Compared themselves with Taycan and Model S too. Nailed on success IMO.
It's been a hell of an 18 months, with everything from a Geely Panda Mini to a HiPhi Z to the Homtruck, across 46 videos, but we're only just getting started.
20,000 subscribers (and 3.5 million views) may just be a small milestone along the way but it means a lot.
Thanks all.
Spotted by a Twitter friend of mine in Hangzhou, the upcoming Neta E Coupe. If you can't quite stretch to a Yangwang U9 or AION Hyper SSR, this might be the next best thing.
Another four Chinese cars get the
@EuroNCAP
treatment and all four walk away with 5 stars on standard safety equipment. The uneducated keep telling us Chinese cars are unsafe yet its the Honda CR-V on standard safety that only got 4 stars.

It's new car day in China which means a few reveals and a few facelifts.
First up is the Lynk&Co 07 which, while not quite as stunning as the early renders, is nevertheless quite a beauty. It's a hybrid of course, no EV here.

My brother designs buses for a living. He confirmed to me today their new standard double decker has a 472kWh battery. This is just a smidge under half of that. Fill in your own disgust here ____________.
229 kWh?! 229 kWh?! I feel like Doc Brown from Back to the Future. That is an ENORMOUS battery to stick in a vehicle. I guess with 500 miles of range and 350 kW charging, it might actually be worth it? Charging the Ram Rev is still going to be VERY expensive.
Looks like the XPeng P5 is getting a mid-life face-lift and a slightly more elegant chin. Doesn't look like it will come with lidar in future though unless they burying it in the dark bits. Instead looks like a standard level 2-style sensor set in the lower grille.
Wow, you can now get your hands on a Wuling Hongguang for just 19,800RMB. That's just £2,262 or $2,855. With this, you'll 'rent the battery' (no it's not swappable) for 198RMB a month (£22/$28.5). Imagine how intense the competition is if even the bloody Hongguang is discounting.
Spotted the
@BYDCompany
Song L in store so naturally had to check it out. Looks absolutely brilliant with good Civic vibes. Lovely interior too with base cushion extension, hefty side bolsters, all the usual treats, strong colour and material choices. This might be their best yet

. I'm all for the proportions on this thing having loved our Renault Megane Scenic as a kid. Stubby nose, monobox profile, big glasshouse. Yes please!
Was on the BMW stand today discussing why their design is so hideous. Came to the conclusion that it's a poorly judged attempt at IP protection. The theory is, if your cars are ugly enough, the Chinese won't copy them. Reality is, the Chinese are past copying 🇪🇺 brands anyway.

We have the first English-language review of the quite incredible Li MEGA. The stats don't do this car justice. Being able to charge 310 miles of range in under 11 minutes is the headline, but it's a car so packed with substance it deserves far more attention than that.👇

✅️Charges 310 miles in 11 mins
✅️Seats 7 adults in total comfort
✅️More aerodynamic than a Taycan
✅️3 screens, 21 speakers, Dolby Atmos Vision
✅️Snapdragon 8295 chip
✅️Urban autonomous skills

How's charging infrastructure where you are? This is one shopping centre basement car park in a not very busy corner of Kunming (in Yunnan, one of China's poorer provinces), and here there must be at least 50 or 60 charging piles capable of at least 130kW charging.
🍾 Been so busy enjoying the G6 I didn't notice that 1 year and 28 videos later the channel has now hit 10,000 subscribers.
Feels quite surreal.
Huge thanks to anyone on here that does subscribe, it really means a lot.
