Mom passed away at 91 early this morning. The last member of her generation on both sides of the family. She is with Dad now. She was more than ready to go. Sigh 😔 My parents and all uncles/ aunts are gone. 18 people.

@1goodtern I have argued with my friends about this. They insist it will evolve to a milder strain. I point out that since it doesn’t kill a high percentage of victims, there is no pressure for this and any change will be random. I am the only one in the group that has a biology degree. 😉

I made myself a full size staff for hiking years ago and was referred to as a "wizard" by my hiking buds. When osteoarthritis suddenly intensified at 66, I had no image issues or hesitation in grabbing a cane.

@maxfawcett Disagree. Many people who do physical work for most of their lives are pretty much done by 65 or earlier. I had to stop by 62 as my knees and back had gone from too much cramped work in IT closets. Life expectancy is no longer rising. Easy for white collar workers, not blue.

The gaps in the fence were no wider than his skull. He teleported through the fence and caught the bird before it got more than 2 feet off the ground. I was horrified and amazed.

I spoke about marine biology to a young relative when I was an undergrad. My career only lasted 5 years but he became a cetacean prof with field work in Hawaii.

@DrSilviaMilana @IshatReza I worked with one woman and I struggled with her accent. I'd never heard one like it. Part Cantonese but not. I eventually learned that she was profoundly deaf. Without the ability to hear, she had learned to speak in Cantonese and THEN English. Wow. She was lip reading.
