Personally, yes, I think it's cheating. However, I don't think it matters that much. If someone needs AI to help them write a book, the end product is going to be poor no matter what.
@kwok_xian
I’m from GenX. If you didn’t eat what was on the plate, you went to bed hungry. But I’d just sneak food later at night. One time my dad told me I couldn’t leave the table until I ate my spinach, so I put my head down and went to sleep right there. lol, I was stubborn.
Hello,

, I'm a 48-year-old wildlife biologist who started writing after I fell and hit my head on a rock in 2018. Nothing like a traumatic brain injury to jiggle loose some hidden creativity.
@KateAltonWrites
Ick. I always respond to men in my DMs: Hi, thank you for contacting me. I've been happily married for 17 years. Do you have a question about my book? 😂 You know, just in case.
@thejnicholas
AI is shockingly flawed at this point, so someone who relies on it to write is going to have a seriously flawed end product. i.e., google the gatorade baptism suggestion. Now look at Plath, Neruda, Thomas, Cummings. AI could never string words together in such an emotional way.
@authorruby
Honestly, I would leave promo bookmarks in the parks’ little free libraries, if they have them. You are then targeting readers and bookmarks are cheaper!

Speaking of, did anyone ever do this in restaurant booths? My brother and I used to shout, "We're sinking in the quicksand!" and then just sort of let ourselves get sucked under the table. Yeah, our mom loved it when we did that. 🤣
Our book, "Himalayan Tsunami," is scheduled for release on October 13th. You can preorder it now. Budget-friendly ebook available. One tree planted for each print copy sold.
💖 I just want to give a shout out to all the incredible people here with creative passions that fuel their big dreams. People who refuse to give up because they want to share what they have with the world. You all are inspiring. 💖

, when approaching your TBR shelf, it’s best to close your eyes, spin in circles, and then pull out the first book you touch. That way, the other books understand it’s completely random and they don’t feel bad. Which is super important.

: How many of you identify with a marginalized group but are not comfortable making that info public to an agent who is prioritizing manuscripts from said groups? I think this is an important topic.

In a way, “almost” rejections are worse than form rejections because you know how close you came. Just keep going! You already know you have the talent, now you just need the persistence.
@SaratogaIsHere
omg, this made me cry for so many reasons. your parents are precious. i wish everyone had parents like this. even the dog was celebrating.🥹😭
KidLitPit was my first pitching event on Twitter. I'm not that good at it & only about 300 people saw my pitches. BUT, I'll tell you this: I was expecting zero agent likes & I got one. And that's all it takes to keep my hope alive and my motivation intact. So I'm celebrating. 🥳
I think Netflix needs a documentary series called “To All the Books I’ve Loved Before.” It would be interviews with famous authors that include the strangest fan letters they’ve received. Am I the only one who would watch that?
@DyanFoxWrites
What genre are you querying? It seems agents are somewhat rabid for speculative, horror, and romance right now. I'm over here with contemporary YA, so... I feel you.
@rrvirdi
Yes! I started writing seriously at 44. I'm now 48 with a published book and over 40 short stories and poems scattered in various journals and magazines. All of you young folks have plenty of time!
@ItsMusicMommy
Well, shit. I was thinking the opposite. But I’ve sent a handful of queries that were a perfect fit & already got one response as “not a good fit for my list.” 🤔 I mean, I know it’s a form response but still.
@matilda_hansson
Ack. It’s a horrible feeling. And I sent it through email, so in order to withdraw it I have to send another email. Which just clogs her inbox, which is rude, so I’m just gonna leave it be. 🤞
@karinbeery
When you bounce ideas off of or brainstorm with other writers, they are gifting you with their talent.
When you use AI, you are taking the sum of mediocrity.
So the real question becomes: which kind of writer do you want to be?
@dani_s_writes
Awww. This is how I feel when agents ask for a two-page marketing plan along with the query. My plan is that I plan to let professional marketers worry about that.

You are on fire today, btw. If I weren't Atheist, I'd say: If you are wealthy & don't help others, you're definitely going to hell. But there is no hell, so it doesn't matter. I still think wealthy people should help the less fortunate. It's just the right thing to do.

I went to the little indie bookstore in my neighborhood to drop off more copies of my book since they only had one left. My kids found the remaining copy on the shelf & did this. 😂

The Girl Who Drank the Moon. I’m not really into fantasy, but read that book to my kids when they were younger. It was incredible, and I mean INCREDIBLE!!!!!
@yvonne_mcd3
I just saw a reel where a girl thrifted over 100 books and then stuck them on a shelf with their spines to the back so all you could see were the white pages. It was for “artistic purposes.” 🤔
@GinaUrso
My daughter has POTS/ dysautonomia. We really have to stay on top of the fluid/salt/electrolyte intake or she feels awful. Especially after doing something that requires her to bend over & then stand back up. She gets tachycardia at rest all the time but has learned to manage ok
@TEWWriting
Funny you should mention this. My husband was just building a tower out of cans yesterday and it wasn’t tall enough so he put the empty pt roll on top and declared it a success. Then he made me promise not to knock it down. So I knocked it down. 😂
@brclothwrites
My husband got stranded in the Himalayan mountains after severe flooding and mudslides. He didn’t know if he would make it out alive, as tens of thousands of people did not. We wrote a book about it called “Himalayan Tsunami.”

This is kind of random, but after reading “The Heart of the Buddha’s Teaching,” by Thich Nhat Hanh, I realized the person in my family who had always come across as abusive and controlling was suffering from a mental health issue. It changed the way I perceived them.
@BethanyJarmul
I do five. I’m afraid if I send more they will think I’m nutty. On the other hand, if they don’t specify, they can’t really hold it against you for sending ten.
@jhernandezbooks
You are not alone. I just moved across country and drove five days with my autistic son and my daughter, who has epilepsy. Add in dogs, cats, and Guinea pigs, and I can confidently say it was one of the most stressful things I’ve ever done. Damn near had a mental breakdown.

Let me tell you something. I lived in a beach town for 17 years & we are so used to seeing all shapes and sizes of bodies in different swim attire, it doesn’t even register. Bodies are bodies, that’s it. Come as you are and have fun. That’s the important part!
