Pro tip. Not really cuz I’m not a pro but do NOT go back and read sent queries. There WILL be typos. You can’t correct them but this will NOT stop you from spending the day obsessing about them and going into a doom spiral. #amquerying #WritingCommunity

In my years in the writing world I’ve learned so much of publishing success comes down to your book getting in the right hands at the right time. There’s always room to improve but not getting that agent/book deal/bestseller list doesn’t mean you’re a bad writer #WritingCommunity

Quit lots, kept coming back to it, sometimes the only thing keeping me going that I just wanted to say I finished the damn thing. There’s no inspirational ending here. I’m running out of agents to query on my other books. I’m discouraged as hell but I finished the damn thing.

I've had a hard time lately finding books that really hook me. I stumbled on one yesterday that hooked me so hard I finished it in less than a day. It was Stranded by Sarah Goodwin @SGoodAuthor It's a thriller but with a hint of supernatural witchiness. #WritingCommunity #Reading

I started writing seriously in 2008. I recognized pretty quickly that my 1st manuscript wasn’t for public consumption. My 2nd though, a retelling of the Persephone myth, was. I queried it beginning in 2009 and wrote a 3rd book while querying it. This was back in the day of paper

I got my ARCs a week or so ago and it was an incredible feeling to hold my book in my hands. It’s also been amazing to see it on bookstagrammers’ feeds and to have author blurbs and reader reviews trickling in. And also nerve racking. I really underestimated that part. 🤣

@KaitlynAbdou I don’t know if that kind of reaction is normal or not but if it makes you feel better, my dad who just started dialysis, told me he hopes he dies before my debut, which will be released in Feb 2025, is published so he doesn’t have to read it. 🤷‍♀️

I know it’s a small thing and might not make much difference but can we all agree to stop saying pro-life and instead refer to it as anti-abortion. These people aren’t pro-life and calling them that confers a moral high ground they definitely don’t have.

And wrote a 4th book while I waited on her. That rejection gutted me. I stopped writing for almost two years. Then in 2013 I dipped my toe into the query pool with book number three and hopped back out. I wasn’t ready to face the rejection again then or maybe ever. I didn’t write

@AMLounsbury I’ve queried for two years. I’ve done all the things. I’ve had betas, revised the manuscript, rewritten the query several times. Feedback on the few fulls was they like it but it doesn’t zing them or they already have books that are too similar, stuff that’s out of my control.

With my last pregnancy I had too much amniotic fluid so I got really big. So many people commented about my size I didn’t want to go out in public.
