Marilyn Manson gave me the confidence to question so many of my indoctrinated thought processes. It allowed me to let my hair down.
His work will always have a special place in my heart.
But I see no reason not to believe the accusations. Be accountable, Brian Warner.
The ever brilliant William Russell is 99 today. A legend of stage and screen, forever immortalised as Ian Chesterton in a little show called Doctor Who.
PS. Don't bother responding to this tweet to tell me that 'accusations aren't proof' etc. I will just block you without responding, because you're really not worth my time and your rebuttals are damaging to victims of abuse worldwide.
I rewatched The Daleks tonight, and I don't think I ever noticed before but the Thals have little circles down the side of their trouser legs, and suddenly I'm realising THE DALEKS BUMPS ARE AN INTERPOLATION OF TROUSERS and I don't know what to do with this information.
I started watching Doctor Who during the McCoy era. A lot of early stories I fell for on VHS were from the Davison & Colin Baker era. I was always (incorrectly) told by older fans these eras were rubbish.
Can we take a moment to appreciate this decade serving us magic?
Thirteen years ago tonight, two friends of mine were walking through a park in Bacup when they were brutally attacked by a gang of youths who objected to their 'goth' clothing.
One was left with permanent brain damage. The other passed away thirteen days later.
RTD has the right idea. We're over 18 years into what is still affectionately called "Nu-Who". There's another 26 seasons of Classic Who, plus the Wilderness Years & expanded media.
All of that stuff that would have been offputting to new viewers in 2005 is now a goldmine.
20 years ago today, the first episode of Garth Marenghi's Darkplace aired, and completely changed the course of my life.
Love to -most- of the creative talents behind the show forever more.
There's always been an element of 'looking the other way' while he had various assault charges and allegations of bad behaviour thrown his way. And that part is on me, and everyone else who tolerated it because his art was so fucking vital. (2/2)
Come on now, you utter bastard. Five years is simply too sodding long to stay dead. Come back, you twat, everything has gone to bollocks without you.
Love you always, you bloody legend.

PPS. This man's work came along for me at a time when I *needed* to question authority. Sure, he wasn't the first, but his obvious intelligence and wit were incredibly appealing & helped shape me as a young adult. Which has always been tempered with his off-stage behaviour. (1/2)
Wowsa. That was unexpected. Gotta hand it to Darius for taking a cringe-inducing moment where the powers that be turned him into a laughing stock (and you KNOW they deliberately did that) and turning it around into a positive, rewarding career. What a grafter. Gone too soon.
@LeeDawsonPT
Every time I open the cupboard where wine glasses, shot glasses and pint glasses live... I see this one, printed out for a party back in 2018 - it's moved house with us!
Yes, Clarkson has written a truly horrible piece of work. But don't act for one fucking second like he hasn't been exactly like this for decades.
His track record of racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism and misogyny is long. You all just ignored it cos you liked Top Gear.
"I'm used to being invisible, but being obese is a million times worse."
That's because bigots like Liz Jones and the Daily Fail are allowed to treat fat people as an object of ridicule.
The Chris Chibnall era was way better than tired lazy journalists want you to believe. Screw every single hack job going on this week. I'm so bored by it. I've loved this silly show for over 35 years and Series 11-13 were just as good as what came before them.
The right wing media are trying to create a stir over people pointing out the bigotry in Enid Blyton books.
You know, something which was being spoofed way back on the night Channel 4 launched in 1982? This isn't a new observation.
@LabourList
@LabWomenDec
How's about you do something about the women who are bullied by bigots because they stand up for trans rights?
STOP painting the picture that all women agree with you. It's an absolute falsehood to mask your bitter prejudices and stoke up fears.
Had a Halloween party last night - our first big gathering since we got the house 2½ years ago.
Decided to dress as something that brought me so much joy during that time, so here's

's Pat Butcher's long lost Northern cousin Bet Lynch. 😉
I will never understand the negativity of
#DragRace
fans. And it is Drag Race fans, not fans of drag as a whole. Don't like a Queen's art? Totally fine. Just don't follow them. Don't engage with them. Don't assume you have a right to treat them like dirt, either.
Can we talk about the blurry as hell screencaps of Jack? I'm not completely sold on the current visual aesthic of the show which appears to be a lot 'murkier' than previous modern eras. I don't want to bring back 4:3 PAL Video but something a little sharper would be nice!
Just heard via the lovely Kevin McNally that the great David Bailie (Pirates of the Caribbean, Doctor Who: Robots of Death and long spells with RSC & the National) had passed away.
Such a gifted actor... he will be missed.

Main show: Turn Left. "It's happening again."
Spin offs: The gratuitous close ups of the convulsing child murder at the end of Children of Earth.
Your friendly reminder Green Day's "Wake Me Up When September Ends" is about Billie Joe Armstrong's father dying of cancer when he was just 10 years old - and the many years of existential dread that September brought him as a result.
Maybe just don't make that crap joke, eh?
@Evie_KB_Writer
I think I always *will* have an emotional connection to his work. I'm not someone who believes we should remove art from our lives completely because the person who made it is horrible. If we did that, we'd have to get rid of a LOT.
I just won't support his future endeavours.
@kylieminogue
I can't believe it's been 30 years! Still loving it as much as I did then! Though I had to wait til my 4th birthday in November to get the album, the singles were on heavy rotation all summer. Thanks for all the good times! Big love xx

I want a podcast about Doctor Who from
@ShadyLawrence
and
@TiaKofi
so badly. Maybe they can watch every episode and review it for sheer liquid campery?
@RevRichardColes
The absolute suffering this woman has caused to trans and Non-Binary people. The absolute farce of that podcast perverting the truth and making people fall for it.
Rowling isn't being hunted as a witch. She's being called out for allying with & amplifying right wing bigots.

Loving this season but I want whatever the judging panel are on cos I'm not agreeing with their bottom two choices REPEATEDLY.
Ps. Absolutely didn't take long for that wall to become dominated by Kylie pics. Sorry, Yazz, the only way was down for your poster!
Can't quite believe I'm now a 35 year old with

's new album on pre-order over 3 decades later... wowsa.

@Bhytes1
I've always tried to view Drag Race as a 'shop window' for artists I'm interested in. It doesn't matter if they're in one episode or win the season - if they 'click' with me and I wasn't a fan already, I'll support them from then on. If they don't 'click' I just leave them alone!
I feel so old... these are photos I took at
@MSI
's gig at Manchester Academy on 21st October 2007. TWELVE SODDING YEARS. Where did they go, eh? One of my fav ever gigs, that one.
Some folks on Gallifrey Base really can't see how there's SO MUCH MATERIAL available for a potential Wilderness Years box-set to sit between Season 26 and Series 1 on our blu-ray shelves. I've just reiterated my 'list' that'd make me immediately hit pre-order...
Not that I necessarily want to kick them when they're down, but following both DWM related Twitter storms this week, a reminder of how differently the Chibnall era was treated to its predecessors in terms of front cover attention.
(Wilderness Years not included.)
When I was growing up Comic Relief was about giving third world countries access to water, or helping victims of domestic abuse, or giving palliative care to seriously ill people.
The fact it now has to cover food banks to help people in the UK simply get a meal is just horrid.
@SafeSpaceDrWho
I wasn't sure about RTD's theory at first but then I reasoned two things.
1. It didn't happen on screen so you can ignore it if you want.
2. The fractured timeline nature of it (ala Sylv in Tales of the Tardis) means it doesn't change what we saw, only created another reality.
When your resume includes appearances in The Young Ones, Filthy Rich & Catflap, The Pink Panther and Doctor Who, as well as work with Morcambe & Wise, Tommy Cooper and Basil Brush to name but a few, you're undoubtedly a legend.
Rest in peace Damaris Hayman, and thank you.
@notCursedE
*enby wave* I can confirm from many years collaborating with MB on projects last decade, he was, and will always be, a firm ally and a great human being. Haven't spoken to him in many years but he *always* looked out for me when we worked together.
Everyone under 35 is obsessing over the last 10 seconds of
#DoctorWho
while everyone over 35 wanted the previous scene with all the companions to be 20 times longer.
We're living in an age where Star Trek and Star Wars are having enormous success mining their past glories for new material, while Marvel and DC dig into ever more niche corners of their catalogue for inspiration.
Why not let Doctor Who do the same when there's so much of it?
When I first started watching What We Do In The Shadows my attention was almost completely on the three British comedians I'd spent years writing about on The Velvet Onion.
Over time I've come to really adore the whole ensemble. But esp.

So yes... this one will be worth every penny. We have to be there for 4:15pm, a full 75 minutes before doors open to normal ticket holders, to get a tour of the stage, photos with stage props, and all our goodies. Caught In A Dream, indeed.

Here's a genuine screenshot from Season 10, vs a genuine screenshot from Season 12. I've tried to go for similar 'shots' in both situations.
The latter is just so "smeary" it's distracting.
Just moved some DVDs around on the shelves, and heard some rattling inside Wayne's World 2. Opened it up and found an unmarked dvd... on it - the never repeated pilot for

As long as there's a solid story, and an actor willing and able to participate, there's no reason why they can't come back. EVERYTHING is an open door, and there's a rich tapestry of possibilities to play with. Esp. with spin-off potential.
Say anything positive about the last five years of Doctor Who and you're branded a "Chibnall Stan" by prats.
I'm just a fan of Doctor Who. Have been for 35 years. I like the Whittaker era just as much as I like all of the other eras. Lots of long-term fans do. Accept that.
It is SO FUGGIN LOVELY to see people in their teens and twenties loving McCoy era Who. As a child of his era, I spent most of the 90s/00s listening to boring old farts telling me why his era was awful and I was stupid to love it. The fact it still finds new audiences now is ACE.
You hacked a dead girl's phone and had friendships with numerous sex offenders and child rapists. You don't get to be the moral compass here, you mouldy old spam.
@EricIdle
I may be a bit of a shit for this, but increasingly I'm finding it very easy to compartmentalise the Python members I admire in their youth but far far less so now, and the ones I admire throughout their whole lives.
At least 4 of you were good 'uns, eh? xx
I fucking dispair at some "Doctor Who fans", I really do. Clearly never paid attention to the show they claim to love.
(T/W: The bottom image is intended to be racist, sexist and homophobic. Sharing for awareness of this scumbag behaviour only.)

He travels with The Doctor, Amy, Rory and River for a few months from his perspective. I think that makes him count as a companion in my book!
Smith's era is full of these types of characters. People forget Kazran & Abigail went on many adventures with The Doctor, for example.
Twitter tells me it's
@GillianA
's birthday.
As a kid, I was in awe of Dana Scully, who seemed to be exactly the kind of woman I should aspire to be around and learn from.
As an adult, I realised that it was actually women like Gillian Anderson who were the inspirational ones.
@hamishsteele
There isn't really a main character as such in The Boys. It's an ensemble piece with two distinct camps: "The Boys" and Vought/The Seven.
To an extent, Hughie (Jack Quaid's character) is the audience identification figure in the early episodes. But he often takes a backseat.
As an escaped former employee of WH Smith, I have to feel for the staff there. When Music Zone went into administration & closed down (twice), I wound up working for WH Smith from 2007-2009 and believe me: it was a shitshow THEN let alone now.

Can you please ask him what was he doing producing spunk when he was clearly in tremendous physical pain? Was it a fear of death wank? How often did he tug one out to check it was still happening? 🤣
One can never have too much vinyl so let's ignore those for a minute... but do I have too many CDs? Streamlined the collection a few years ago and sold off hundreds, but running out of room again. They've had to creep onto the DVD/BluRay shelving to accommodate them all...

I love this... but this list is missing two absolute living legends. PLEASE edit them in because their legacy is often drastically overlooked despite both being huge icons in the 1990s.
David McAlmont and Skin from Skunk Anansie.
@Praxeus_stan
Big Finish will always find a way. There'll be a moment where he goes through a doorway on his own for 5 seconds and re-emerges and they'll fit 18 4-story box-sets in that gap.
The new vinyl remaster of
@kylieminogue
's Impossible Princess is flawless. An amazing album, as close to perfection as she's ever released, now with a delicately expander soundscape and added oomph. It's like falling in love with it all over again. Worth waiting 25 years for...

And yet Johnson's government now refuses to recognise non-binary people.
Give us the right to put our correct gender on legal documents. I want to have a passport, a drivers license and all other key materials NOT midgender me by default.
To have these three back - not just in cameo roles, but full blooded major roles - is an absolute fever dream I am very much here for.

Historically, right wingers have typically tried to "cancel" Elvis dancing, John Lennon being bigger than Jesus, Child's Play 3 making children kill each other, Grand Theft Auto prompting crime waves etc etc.
Now they're being called out for bigotry, they cry wolf.
I've just discovered
