@Poppy_yyyyyyyy
Regardless of the narrow escape from a ghastly partner, who on earth spends that sort of money on make-up for a wedding? I did my own using what I had, the only cost being a few replacement potions from my favourite supplier.
@JessupShannon
My younger one also had this. In those days (1980s) no advice available. I did all I could until I was worn out and then often had to leave her to cry it out. I’m sure better advice now available but I still feel guilty about it. Hard to know the effects it had, but I do wonder.
@UnityNewsNet
Why do people think it's OK when a family has been bereaved and a much loved personality has died under tragic circumstances, to speculate in such an unsavoury manner? Leave the family to grieve in peace.
@CiciTee1
Your all so horrible. If it’s not her teeth, it’s her legs, or feet, or skin, or dress sense, or motives. I don’t expect any of the trolls are exactly paragons of perfection.
@KateBMwriting
Even the tech savvy amongst us are fed up with these. Every communication from NHS now requires I enter my name, dob, post code & if it's not the right format eg a capital where there shouldn't be one, a gap or lack of a gap, a zero or not, the thing doesn't work. Every time!
@Queeney61
Friend who made good recovery nonetheless took forever to get back to normal. The exhaustion was the worst thing. No energy for anything. Wouldn’t be much fun doing public engagement with that. As with ME, the effort of getting up & dressed can be enough to send you back to bed.
@CarilynJohnson
I took the opposite view in UK. Didn’t like the liberal wokery but they were the only ones understanding social justice, compassion, honesty, responsibility and accountability. Would rather work from within to call for change rather than vote for extremism and corruption.
@novelideasblog
What struck me about JKR when I first read her was the v opposite of hate. I went in full of scepticism but was amazed at how the triumph of good over ill pervades her stories. Personal pref., but felt she was a much stronger story teller than Pullman who I find a bit patchy.
@ValleyGirl629
Makes you realise why the Sussexes want to keep their kids out of view. All discussion of this type is so damaging and should be banned.
@blablafishcakes
Parents who have experimented with these ideas have found it turns out badly. Children are not miniature adults (as the majority of us know).
@KIWitney
Likewise, I heard that too and couldn’t help thinking what happened to us in that crucial 4 years between 2012 and 2016 when it all went pear-shaped. It’s got worse ever since.
@ShakeLS
Interesting that when this shameful statement is made by media it is freedom of speech, but when Dianne Abbott is also horrendously attacked by a Tory donor, all hell is let loose. Neither is acceptable. Both cases are hate speech and misogeny and should be dealt with as such.
@Mystifeye
What worries me about all this hate towards Meghan in particular is that it may well drive her down the same path as Princess Diana. Whatever you think, put your hate and spite to one side and let them get on with their lives. And find something better to do with your lives.
@BladeoftheS
Hey, don't downplay 2:1's from Oxford. It's a great achievement and denigrating it is an insult to loads of hard working and very talented students. Not every bright young thing gets a first. I loath JRM but don't let hatred get the better of you.
@Beverly97061592
@Canellelabelle
Mmm, I don’t think I would call minor tweeking of knitwear or hands or whatever they were complaining about inauthentic. People tweek their pics all the time, not least the newspapers that are moaning the loudest cos they didn’t get the scoop pic themselves.
@BokoblinMask
@1FRGVN
Liking something traditionally thought of as belonging to the opposite sex doesn't mean you are born wrong. You can be aesthetic and sensitive but you are still very much a boy. Likewise, girls can be complete tomboys but they are still very much girls.
@StewartGB61
Since you are American, none of your business. Amazingly, some people over here prefer a monarchy to the circus of American politics. We could say quite a bit about your political leaders too but I will refrain.
@garwboy
Hate this utilitarian approach to academic study. You don’t go to university to train for a highly paid job. You go to be educated, to learn how to think. Everything else is a bonus. If all you want is money, skip higher Ed & leave space for those with a passion for learning.
@DaveAtherton20
An amazing number of immigrants just want to get through the system and resume a productive working life. Many have come from dire situations and leaving them in limbo does not help integration .
@lifeatthenest
A lot of work goes in to making a crown. It’s not off the shelf stuff. The moulding in the dentist’s is just a start. Materials, expertise, precise manufacturing, then checking it fits properly when put in, making any adjustments. All highly skilled precision work.
@Zimm143
@JustinWelby
@trussliz
I don’t think he’s praising her. He’s praying for her. That’s quite different. If you see her as the enemy you may know Jesus told us to pray for them. And to pray for our leaders, whatever we think of them.
@meg4_strawberry
I have nothing against Meghan, but this is bonkers. The only competition is between the two camps of fans/detractors sitting endlessly on social media pitting themselves against each other and making it look like a soap opera.
@JonB0712
@cheesedoff3
Not how it’s done. It’s a long tortuous assessment by a psychiatrist, loads of tests, assessments and paperwork. Our family have been through the process.
@JamesMelville
As an Oxford resident, while I think the new plans are totally unworkable, they are certainly not as draconian as this tweet suggests. Even our rather blinkered council knows that. It is basically to make it harder for people to use cars within the confines of the city.
@bogaloboll
Love it. My children used to make menus like this all the time. G’daughter goes one further and wheels a vege rack round, telling us she’s serving inflight refreshments.
@UKRoyalWatch
“I don't like bashing women based on their looks”…so I’ll just do it anyway. Hmm. Whatever their virtues or faults, each of these women are beautiful in their own way.
@greg_jenner
The thing that amazes me is the lack of handover time. No time explaining what been happening and where it's all at, just get on with it (or ask the civil servants).
@AllexmarieHoll1
I think the press is bored. No gossip happening so they need to invent it. But why the broadsheets have to join in is beyond me.
So many important and interesting things happening in the world but we don’t hear about them.
This is absolutely shocking but only to be expected from this corrupt government. It is NOT what the House of Lords is for. And tying the hands of appointees so they can’t vote against the govt is an in precedented abuse of power.

@JohnShakallis
@Helen19544
Sadly, some people have to remain on benefits. It’s not a life choice for them. They try to work but can’t manage the hours or pressure, or for other reasons can’t earn enough to survive without a top-up from welfare.
@DrFrancisYoung
At a party a few years ago, my daughter (then at about A level stage) carried out an entire conversation with one of my husband's colleagues in Ancient Greek. He spoke only modern Greek but there were enough similarities for them to understand each other perfectly.
@implausibleblog

And given that this lot supposedly hate Europe in general and Brussels in particular, why should they have a conference there? Can only be for some nefarious reason.
@richardaeden

@DailyMailUK
I wouldn't trust or take seriously anything either from Sarah Vine or the Mail. I think H+M were just having a nice break and minding their own business.
@cheesedoff3
Having a close relative with these conditions currently trying to claim PIP, I can assure you they can be genuinely desperate. She is learning to live independently & cheapest rent she could find was about twice her income. Her condition severely limits how much she can work.
@thorogoodchris1
Amazing! For those like me who aren't terribly familiar with this plant, I was trying to work out how the inflorescence and the leaves worked and found this really useful diagram (writing a little fuzzy).
@darrengrimes_
What I can’t understand is how the NHS got sucked in. Should have been plain as day - unless the “organisation” disempowered and sidelined the only people in it who understand biology.
@KirstieMAllsopp
@AlisonStammers
A lot of my grandchildren's homework seems to consist of reading. Have had some lovely times going through it together cosied up on the sofa.
@DrFrancisYoung
In Oxford it’s rather the same with Ancient Greek. Different schools have different pronunciations. Both understandable but a lot of snobbery about which is correct.
@andrewscomet
@PopBase
It seems she’s damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t. She’s probably wants to protect her family - and particularly her children. Real people are being affected by these slanders. It’s not a soap opera.
@DrPragyaAgarwal
Yes, had a similar experience at the Ashmolean when accompanying someone who had a panic attack when trying to leave the building at closing time. This volunteer insisted she had her panic attack outside! I think I sort of said get lost and wrote to the museum complaining.
@ShaneClaiborne
It’s important to distinguish between the perpetrators of these crimes and the bulk of the population on both sides who just want to get on with their lives and live peaceably with their neighbours and have been doing so until now.

Seems really irresponsible on the part of airline and employee. What would it cost the attendant to politely explain that actually they prefer to called “x”. Where is the concept of customer care and service in all this? As others have said, a dreadful airline.
@MeghansMole
@YouTube
None of your business. The first was probably based on family stories, the second on DNA tests. Who cares anyway? If you desperately feel the need to judge a person, at least recognise that in a democratic society, background is a non-issue.
@clairebubblepop
And let’s face it, your job is a valuable one. People like you are the backbone which keeps things afloat. We realised that during Covid (though some people have short memories). Hope things work out for you.
@LauraFMcConnell
I suspect 95% of the population are with you. The rest are just over-represented on social media and spend too much time with their noses in Tabloids.
@doctor_oxford
@medicalmodelbri
Do these PAs have any ethics training or sign any confidentiality agreements? This is appalling. Probably for everyone like this there are a load who are lovely and do their job well, but it brings the whole system into dis-repute. Do we know this is genuine and not fake?
@ShelaghFogarty
I can't express anger these words make me feel. Government ministers are meant to be servants of the people, but they despise those they serve then expect us to vote them into power. Their attitude to other work sectors wasn't any better. No wonder we are beset by strikes.
@raqaellapaella
@LanceDeuer
So these guys dress and behave like men in their private lives, tower over everyone else, including male trainers, but somehow, the minute they get into the ring they miraculously transform themselves into women.
@NaomiSky_15
I thought Harry was frequently sidelined on this trip - M at the front & him shoved to the back. Can't read between the lines but the photo of her striding ahead with her phone and him carrying the luggage seemed a rather sad metaphor.
@acambridgediary
How wonderful. We had it opened for our wedding in 1981 and had silhouetted photos taken as the rays of sunlight flooded the entrance from behind us.
@ITattum
Worth is not measured in £-signs. I’m now ret., d1 is at home with 4 kids under 10 (all high achievers), d2 has mental health disability but manages to teach English lit part time for a pittance and writes wonderful prose and poetry. I call all of those contributions.
@wylfcen
I love your posts. Do keep them coming! I make liberal use of the block function if people are rude. Usually comes in waves and then after a series of blockings it returns to friendly again.
@SallyAbbott3
Very weird. I read somewhere that American female celebs like doing it too. Something to do with looking vulnerable and seductive simultaneously.
@BramhamAlex
At the hustings I went to last night (6 M candidates or reps), most accepted the traditional view while acknowledging the need to respect people however they identified. The need for F only spaces generally accepted altho a couple were a bit cagey. None gave simplistic answers.
@CarmenGranddau1
Charles is head of state, like if or not. All government papers go past him. Government reports to him on a weekly basis. PMs have always said how much they value the weekly meetings with monarch at BP.
@DalrympleWill
They could learn a lesson from Oxford where the iconic old Radcliffe infirmary was repurposed as a humanities dept for the university and the modern hospital built elsewhere. Best of both worlds ( although the old Acland Hospital did not fare so well).
@GylesB1
@cspencer1508
It worked for me too. My parents gave me the choice and I took it. Living in a remote area it was the only way to get an education. I didn’t love it at all but am always grateful for it.
@ClareCraigPath
It's good to see some posts from suitably qualified people coming through about this. I've felt uneasy about it for a number of reasons though have no qualifications to support it. Will be interested to see how this develops over the coming weeks and months.
@WalkerMarcus
Seen a number of amusing answers to this one. I wonder what he does on other bank holidays? Or when his teachers strike? Never heard of a bank holiday causing anxiety before. If it does, more reflection on the system than the holiday. Get out and enjoy the fresh air.
@MadameGilflurt
Fabulous collection of pix - haven't the patience to go through liking them all. Reminds me of some of the vintage clothes I inherited - my grandmother's 1904 graduation dress was my wedding dress. My mother had an amazing collection of '40s-50's clothes from her own wardrobe.
@HrmQueene
The military is separate from the monarchy. Those taking part in Trooping the Colour are all working soldiers seeing action in “normal” life. They specially train for TtC.
