This was not being celebrated enough by the railfan community so I thought I should. Today exactly 9 years ago is when the Mumbai got it's first metro line. The blue line (line 1) of Mumbai Metro opened between Versova and Ghatkopar on 8th June 2014.

@zoru75 As if the entirety of MMR only travels between Dahisar and Andheri 🤣 I told you this before also and I will tell you this again no matter who says what, once all the lines are built only then will you see large scale the decongestion take place on highways.

This must be the 1000th time I am answering this criticism. So this will be the last time. MAHSR has 12 prosperous and industrialized tier 1/2/3 cities on a flat terrain, it is India's 1st conurbation belt, aptly named Golden Corridor. There is no route better than this for HSR.

@DesiUrbanist It's too far away there's no work going on for the rest of the route. Ahmedabad - Mumbai itself was the wrong route in the first place. Also upgrading existing track will be of more benefit to the existing users, a bullet train ticket price will be too expensive for them

@rupspp @zoru75 Knowledge doesn't die just because you did something someone considers illicit. Tomorrow if sachin tendulkar joins the SS bandwagon he won't lose his position as the god of cricket. Same for Sreedharan's position as a technocrat. He will always remain the metro man of India.

@aamodpotdar @mybmc @mid_day the whole signage methodology is only wrong! the signs are supposed to indicate which exit will take you in which direction (eg:- <- sewri, -> worli) instead they're indicating which road intersections you will end up on. 🤦‍♂️ @mybmc can't even get one thing right! 🤦‍♂️

@Izharsher22 @NidhiJhaIndia @GabbbarSingh Okay now I know I should’ve not take you seriously earlier 😂 You don’t even have 1/3 of the required PT capacity or modal share compared to the two cities Ur housing is worse, services an absolute hell and your economics and governance down the drain I realised my mistake🤣.

Over time, Blue line would cause out of it's stations like Azad Nagar, DN Nagar, Versova and Gundavali, stations like Marol Naka, Chakala would become a great spot to put hotels, colleges and offices.

We have a chance to build these trains🚆across India if you choose your leaders and make demand wisely. We simply CANNOT be a country whose infrastructure is dependent on cars 🚘 when ONLY 7.5% of the population drives.

Everyone heard of a cross-platform transfer, but have you heard of a cross-train transfer? At Jurong East MRT, it’s possible to transfer from a NSL train at Platform A to a WB EWL train at Platform F when timed perfectly, without having to go though the concourse level.

@TandonRaveena Raveena mam that is the problem. You have only travelled in car since 1991. And you get to travel by car comfortably since 1991 because more than 70% of the city’s masses chose public transport. Nagpurwale ko chhodo aap unse jyada lucky ho. 1/2

Running trains at 3 to 4 minute frequencies for over 18 hours a day carrying over 45,000 passengers per hour during peak with just 4 car rakes, compare this to Red and Yellow line, that combined, carry 40,000 passengers per hour during peak time with 6 car rakes.

No thank you, we don’t need Delhi shills ignoring it’s Ls doing our urban planning. 🤦‍♂️ Mumbai’s all problems aside it’s land use/land cover is such that it’s still far more transit centric than Delhi, the modal share alone says it all.

@RoyalTiger97 @marinebharat the years here is a probability metric, it doesn't mean that it will remain functional for 10,000 years, it just means that it's likelihood of failing is very less. there are complex calculations involved here, samajh mein nahi aata toh comment bhi mat karo na. 🤣

I probably won’t be active on Twitter or discord for a few days as I’ve been in an accident. I was rear ended by a car guy, fortunately it was a low speed collision. My right hand and upper right chest area hurt too much to keep typing, but I will share more once I feel better.

From what it seems like, Mumbai Metro Purple L13 seems to have fallen through the cracks at MMRDA. The last we heard about it was a year back when it was said that the line was in DPR stage.

@Abishto0 @thekaipullai Remember the activa story? That scooter became Honda’s best selling by word of mouth. And it still took them years to become a bestseller. 20 years down the line, they don’t even work on providing good features anymore, let alone publicity. But it still gets sold.

@Kun_Srivastav This is stupid, any HSR built between Mumbai and Nagpur today will be extended to Kolkata tomorrow and act as a high speed version of the golden/diamond diagonal relieving the conventional Mumbai-Howrah diagonal route significantly. This is a horrible downgrade!!

Mumbai is often compared with Shanghai, however it isn't objective. Mumbai has more things in common with Hong Kong, in fact so many things are common that both cities would be ideal candidates to be twin or sister cities. Here are some of those things:- (Thread🧵): - 1/n

maximum designed capacity of a grade separated urban rail line (metro/suburban) = 1.8 lakh pphd (can be more) guess the capacity of a bus priority lane? there's no free lunch in planning either, bus lanes have lower costs because they also have significantly lower max capacity.
