A little look into our field program here after returning from Spring Break.
As coaches obviously we have to be adaptable as our emphasis, reps, sets, etc. could change daily as a result of space, or getting stuck inside due to weather.

A S&C coach would never come down to your sport and tell you how to coach it.
We may exercise our thoughts on MOVEMENT & PREPERATION but not how/what you should be doing.
Same is expected in return regarding the weight room and performance development

Coaches come and go, but a good S&C / Athletics Partnerhsip creates a foundation for all sports to buy into a TEAM based approach.

Sport Coaches, when your athlete asks,
“Do I need to go to team lift if I’m lifting on my own or with so & so?
The answer is. ABSOLUTELY!
Lifting with your team is about much more than just getting stronger and preparing.
ITS ABOUT THE TEAM!
Hold each other accountble.
In conversations I’ve had with sport Coaches about having an S&C coach on staff
It is an ADVANTAGE! USE THEM!
The best coaches know when they don’t know what they don’t know. It’s okay to accept input from coaches smarter in certain areas.
Team will be better for it
The weightroom is not the end all be all… but it makes a heck of a difference.

Remember.
Adding weight is NOT the only way to progress a movement.
Vary the tempo, unilateral v. bilateral, velocity and so much more..
Don’t get so caught up in the weight that you lose sight of MOVEMENT!
Part of me breaks when I talk to female athletes from other schools when they say they can’t get into their weight room at school because it’s ’only for the guys’ or better yet ‘football only’.
2023 and we got future college athletes that can’t get the basic needs they need…

2. How do we achieve this? (exercise/reps/sets)
3. Is it safe?

A2. Following a triphasic model we usually go 3-5 weeks in a eccentric, isometric, & full go phase.
Using APRE for our main lifts and usually going 5-6 sets, the first three to four sets are “iso” sets and last two are our money sets
Allows us to add volume without adding time

The NEED for a qualified professionals is at an all time HIGH. Every high school should have one! Too many burying kids underneath a bar, running them to the point of no return, and hoping for the best.

A3. In our class we get two days outside. One day speed development, one day change of direction.
On our change of direction days we our spending a lot of time teaching BPS, WBC, and game speed.
In the weight room, we train deceleration and first step as much as possible.
