Quick Tutorial about how to have a leaderboard in Google Sheets.
Very basic, but important tool when working with data and highlighting your athletes.
Hope someone gets something from this!
What would you like to see / know next?
Proud to announce that I will be the Director of Strength & Conditioning for Jackson Christian School!
Thank you God for this opportunity, it is very exciting to begin this new chapter in my professional career!

Strength training won’t make your athletes slower.
Strength Training Won’t Make Your Athletes Slower.
STRENGTH TRAINING WONT MAKE YOUR ATHLETES SLOWER.
Not consistently sprinting with max effort will make your athletes slower
How to (possibly) pay for a full time strength coach:
- Hire as a PE or Health Teacher (praxis certified)
- Years “teaching” will determine salary
- Have them teach some weightlifting class or a basic health class
- 4% of salary per a team will go into a stipend
- 1 year contract
The French Contrast method was an awesome method for in season training.
We didn’t do a full blown out FCM, but did some of the principles to it
Also broke it off into a tier system (6 exercises total)
This is what we did ⬇️
As a HS strength coach, I’m not so worried about kids getting stronger
Yes it is an important, but with proper progression & strain, they’ll get stronger
I worry more into our athletic movements
Changing direction, crawling, carrying, jumping, sprinting, decelerating, etc..
If I could do my undergraduate again, I’d go for Physical Education, get licensed in PE, secure a job, and then get a masters in Kinesiology, Exercise science, Strength & conditioning.
With it being official…
Excited to say that I’ll be serving as a an educator / strength coach over at Dyer County High School!
Being from the town I grew up in for 14 years to coming back is a remarkable opportunity!
I’m thrilled,pumped, & ready to work!
Let’s Go Choctaws!
Tomorrow is a big day.
Year 6 coaching.
4 years of coaching football (MS/HS)
1 year coaching Track
3 years of S&C
First year of a true Director S&C Role
Excited for this opportunity & where this program can go!
Here’s our program (general)
Olympic Lifts 3-5 sets 1-4 reps, 5-6 if we are learning a new lift
Main Compounds are 3+ sets for 3-6 reps, if learning a new lift or skill, 6-8
Auxiliary depends on the time of year
Off SZN: 8-15
Pre: 6-10
In SZN: 6-8
Not perfect but it works
How many actual S&C coaches program more than 3-5 reps for main lifts? For strength, power, or hypertrophy?
People keep attacking these 3x8-12 rep strawman coaches that I just don’t hear from.
The vast majority of us only use those rep schemes for auxiliary lifts.
Just a reminder to anyone going on their CSCS journey…
Behind this certificate is all the failed attempts at the exam
All the paper results that said “FAILED”
It’s ok to fail, that’s where the learning begins and you’re good enough to pass this exam 💪
1 year ago…

10 weeks of 3 Days a week work completed with changes in intensity, load, reps, sets, time, and tempo depending on the week / day ✅
Development at the middle school level saves a ton of time at the high school level
Development at the high school level saves a ton of time at the collegiate level
With school almost starting back up, I wanted to almost “full proof” the weight room when it comes to loading the bar for our athletes.
So made this loading chart that goes from 55lbs all the way to 500lbs ✅
I think as a young coach you should have mentors, more than just 1.
Ones that help guide and will give you what you need, maybe not what you want to hear but what you need.
Be blessed if you’ve got yours
I don’t listen to
@BussinWTB
because I’m a big Titans fan, I listen to the podcast because I’m a big fan of

&
@TaylorLewan77
as people. Truly some great humans. Cheers 🥃
Classes to should be required in Kinesiology / Exercise Science courses:
• Intro Level Physics
• Intro Level Statistics
Maybe you’ve taken these as elective or prerequisites for your masters / doctorate
But at an undergraduate level, these need to be added.
I’m not one to post personal things on here, but I wanted to in search of some additional prayers for my wife & I
My wife & I were expecting a baby later this year, but, Monday we rushed to the hospital due to my wife having abdominal pain
We were told it was ectopic pregnancy
I’ll take an athlete with good attitude, great grades, and average talent 10/10 times than an athlete that has LOADS of talent but a piss poor attitude with low grades
It matters!
I don’t think some people understand how much time & effort it takes to start and build a strength program
Wrapping up year 1 and have a lot to learn
The commitment to having a S&C program alone is takes way more than a year to truly flourish
I’m excited for what’s to come!
Head coaches shouldn’t have to worry about their S&C program
S&C professionals can take that load off the head coach so they can focus on the sport and S&C can focus on athletes performance
Got big guys that can’t do pull ups?
That’s fine, time them at the top, let them hold that position until they can’t go anymore.
Make a leaderboard for those athletes ✅
I’m not a 100% sure how we should cope or manage the feelings right now but heartbroken is an understatement.
I just ask for anyone seeing this to keep my wife and I in your prayers as we continue to seek peace in times of sadness
Thank you all.
JM
It’s one thing to have certifications
It’s another to have education and certifications,
It’s ANOTHER thing to have experience, education and certifications
ITS ANOTHER THING to have proven data, experience, education and certifications
Leave no stone unturned

I feel like strength coaches are in 1 of 2 categories:
1- They were a successful athlete that succeeded on the field, court, and the weight room
OR
2- They were ok at best at their sport and had to work harder than everyone else just to be average. Then loved the weight room
