Gay Tories are traitors. Yes, there are many individual members of the Conservative party who support LGBTQ rights in some form or another, but the party as a whole has always stood in the way of queer liberation. Just felt the need to say that in the run up to London Pride.

Well, I’ve reached Gatwick, bought a sandwich for about £15 and acquired a terrible Jeffrey Archer novel - I am officially on holiday (off to Antalya). Oh, and did I mention the exam board promoted me? I’m now head honcho for all the classical subjects (Latin, Greek & Class Civ).

Thought Bond fans on here might appreciate this vintage (and unopened) Smirnoff vodka bottle I found at my grandparents’ house - “win one of 100,000 tickets to see the new James Bond movie GoldenEye”! @TheTchaikovsky @LicenceToQueer @TheWizardOfIce @calvindyson

My Latin mini-epic about fleeing the coronavirus and holidaying in Jurassic Park. Must admit to being quite pleased with myself - macaronics are not the easiest constraints in which to write seventy-two lines (and quote Jeff Goldblum). @DigitalMapsAW , may just be up your street?!

I’ve studied Latin and Roman history for more than twenty-five years, but don’t think I’ll ever lose the sense of awe something like this instils in me.

Yikes, this brought out all the crazy die-hard Jack Monroe fans, who are blind to the obvious (and desperate for her to sue anyone not part of the cult). There's obviously a wealth of evidence to indicate fraudulent crowd-funding, Patreon stuff etc.; but this case gives a good

My beloved grandmother, Joan Cooper, with whom I was so blessed to have a close and profound relationship these past thirty-something years, passed away a few days ago. She was eighty-eight and died peacefully in her sleep after a long and remarkable life, that took her from

Skoda filled to the brim; off to London at first light tomorrow for the start of a whole new phase to my life. A little apprehensive but overwhelmingly positive & excited. Feels a lot like going to uni! Or maybe it’s that I suddenly feel young again. Wish me luck in the big city.

When the King's prostate exam was publicised, the NHS webpage on the procedure saw footfall increase 1000% - that is a very good thing and this will doubtless have a similar positive effect. Certainly more so than being a twat about someone important's cancer being in the news.

Home at last; and someone’s pleased to see me. It’s been easily the most stressful and exhausting three weeks of my life - certainly my career - but I’ve survived and haven’t cracked up under the pressure. I don’t mind admitting I’m really proud of myself for that.

Very pleased to have been appointed Director of Social Media at my new school (further to the Classics role). Who knew that the vice of Twitter addiction could be so readily turned to virtue?
