One of the greatest arguments against Protestantism is their deficiency in an ascetical/mystical tradition. Most of them seem to be completely unaware of the higher grades of prayer that we are called to. Their theology does not produce mystics

The Church teaches that Popes are over Councils, therefore he can add the Filioque to the Creed. The Filioque is a dogma of the entire Catholic Church, and failure to accept it would be heresy, a grave sin. Eastern Catholics don't have to recite it, but they have to believe it.

@CatholicDwong No he does not. It should have been done through an ecumenical council. (I'm heading to a Byzantine Catholic divine liturgy. We don't recite the filioque there, and the pope cannot do anything to change that, and if he tried, he would be ignored.)

@WalmartThomist It takes next level mental gymnastics to say St. Augustine did not teach the Filioque.

Preschoolers show you the duality of man: I was pushing a kid on the swing and he asked me for a “stinky diaper push.” A few moments later they saw a statue of Mother Mary and started talking about how they love Her.

Jesus Christ alone can save your soul and only those who die in sanctifying grace (merited by Our Lord alone) can be saved. The Scapular is a devotional item that attests to the truth of the Lord Jesus Christ and the efficacy of the prayers of the righteous (Our Lady) [2/3]

M*sturbation is always a grave sin. In fact any purposeful arousal of the s*xual passions outside of marriage is always a grave sin. This is Catholic teaching.

The doctrine of the fewness of the saved inclines us to evangelize more and to make more sacrifices for the conversion of poor sinners. Hopeful universalism inclines one to sloth and lukewarmness, as there is no necessity to take action.

Remember when Pope St. Innocent I (401-417 AD) taught the Pope has universal jurisdiction, that Rome is the final judge of disputes, and that Rome is the incorrupt Head of the Church. Good times.

@Scholastic_X At the Pan-Amazon Synod, “Pachamama” was actually announced as “Our Lady of the Amazon.” While it looked weird, they were simply venerating Our Lady, not committing idolatry. Pope Francis later referred to it as “Pachamama” only because everyone was calling it that.

Not only is infernalism true, but the majority of people go to hell, as taught by all the Doctors and Scholastics. Mass damnation does not make God evil, since everyone damned had sufficient grace to be saved if they cooperated, yet they willing chose to reject God.

For the record, I used to be an infernalist just like you for decades. I knew there were problems with my view, but I decided there was probably an answer and I’d “figure it out later”. So just recently I started asking questions. And it seems to me there are problems in the
