I absolutely hate to agree with chuds on anything, but I do believe you can be in the Warhammer hobby doing only one of these, or all seven. Miniatures are the backbone of Warhammer, yes. That's most of GW's profits. However, they can be expensive. Books and games are cheap (1/?)

If you aren't reading Space Marine codexes, Lupercal ain't gonna show up hardly anywhere in 40K and even then it's not often.
