The CCHL would like to send our condolences to the family of Mike Craig, who passed away early Sunday morning. Mike played 283 games with Smiths Falls from 1992-1997. He would then scout for various CCHL teams as well as spending the past 15 years with the Oshawa Generals (OHL).

Played golf yesterday, the course was in great shape, the greens were awesome. The greens keeper and his staff at Rideau View do a great job. My game was enjoyable because of the friends I play with not because of quality golf. Those days are over.

Congratulations Xavier. Another HEO U16 player signed to an OHL team. Xavier and the other HEO U16 players went to tournaments, they all got much more exposer to more OHL scouts. The return of U16 was a huge benifit to our HEO players and will only improve going forward.

Some very good HEO players in JR B that could make the jump. IMO the league can be won with local HEO players. The tough part is getting them because of the CCHL draft. If an HEO player is not signed after two years those players drafted should become free agents.

I worked 35 years for A&P another 5 for Metro got to be assistant store manager. Great place to work. My sister was a head casher A&P then Basics. My father was a Meat Supervisor. Wish it was still around. I have a sign like that in my garage.

If you get drafted congratulations, if you do not get selected find a team to play on and work hard. The OHL has a U 18 draft for this reason. It is not over. There are lots of HEO area players that were not selected into the OHL. That are in the NHL. Believe in yourself.

The cuss words do not offend but what does upset me is players and parents pay extra money to be abused by trainers and skill coaches and it seems to be fine. If their team coach came close to anything like this he/she would be charged and finished as a coach. Just saying.

Just sitting down to do my reports from the OHL Cup. It was great to see 3 teams from the HEO area at this great event because of the added exposer to almost every OHL scout this week and some NHL scouts our young men will be added to team lists,move up team lists.

Simple look for players that have Heart, Character. Talent means nothing without the other two. Talent is trap most scouts fall into when all a teams really needs are players with character with enough talent.

Hearing Caton Ryan is moving to BCHL. Why? NCAA thinks BCHL is better for his development? I hope he does not do this,he has a great coach in CP. Is the BCHL better right now, maybe but if some CCHL teams leave and league takes those free agents the hockey/ league improves.

Richard and I coached together for Carleton Ravens Hockey when Fred Parker brought the program back. We later coached AAA Senators Midget to an HEO championship. Always ready to work. Thanks Richard for our time together. You will be missed.

As a scout in the OHL for over 20 years I can tell you this happens and it happens because of the player not the scouts/teams that did not select a player. The player improved to a point he made teams/scouts notice him. Keep working believe in yourself. Never give up.

Puck Preps has is top 20 list published for the OHL draft next April. One HEO U16 AAA player made the list at # 5 Max Crete of UCC. How many others get drafted? The U16 AAA is very good hockey get out and see the hockey future.

Every sport is year-round now. Not right, just the way it is. Hockey Canada has a CDM that tells parents, kids, and coaches to develop as athletes kids should be playing other sports but does nothing to slow down spring/summer hockey.

To the parents of the U14 teams going to the Whitby Silver Stick. Wild, OVT and Myers. If you can find the time try to get to a couple of U16 games. Your boys will be at this level in two short years now that U16 is coming back to HEO AAA. The hockey is great. Enjoy #HEO

Has Chabot improved in the 3 years he has been in the NHL? he goes up against the other teams best line most nights. We have kids in leadership roles and playing in roles they are not yet ready for. Do we have veteran quality players to help the kids mature into good NHL players.
