comics are a tough hobby bc you'll read a decade's worth of bad stuff for your fav in a week and be like "well that was awful but it's over" but then you have to actually live through a decade's worth of bad stuff in real time and you go boorderline insane
🚨Report: New York City is planning to build the world’s tallest prison. The slammer has been called “Jailscraper” The jail will hold 1,000 prisoners across a 40-floor tower.
comics fandom’s crazy bc a male character will be introduced explicitly as a child predator and become so popular he gets multiple solos but then somehow wonder woman is “boring”
A question for Comic Book Twitter:
Who is an actor that you think would’ve been perfect to play a certain superhero, but has since aged out of the role?
you know it’s bad for comics fans bc most would rather their absolute favorite character die than have them written by somehow extremely acclaimed and popular writers
what if your dad REPLACED you and you went OFF-WORLD and your girlfriend married SOMEONE ELSE and it was your BIRTHDAY and reality got REWRITTEN and you got back and your potential brother was DEAD and you had UNTREATED BPD
dc's treatment of babs rn is pure stubbornness. they know there's enough discontentment so they don't fully use her as batgirl but they still won't admit they made a mistake so they refuse to actually make her oracle again
i miss early days cass cain when she didn’t talk much and then her disability both made her a unique character to read and actively affected her plots and actions
“you only call steph a lesbian bc you don’t want her to date tim” i’m about to tell you something about my perception of tim drake that’s gonna blow your mind
one of the most painful parts about cassie sandsmark’s feminization is that she’s one of the only truly tomboy characters i can think of whose mom fully accepted her and didn’t push for her to be more feminine
see the thing is it’s not even about mischaracterization (which happens to EVERY character he touches) but that he’s just so deeply misogynistic he can’t write a woman to save his life
kinda crazy how tim drake is the ultimate sibling. every bat dynamic involving him is THE sibling relationship ever. helena? iconic. babs? unmatched. cass? literal twins. dick? the most brothers to ever brother
i miss when superhero comics used to be like “yeah cops are useless at best, evilly corrupt at worst” (outside of the obligatory helpful/informant cop)
why don’t queer dc characters specify their identities anymore. like it’s obviously fine to be unlabeled but it’s weird to refer to characters by a label outside the text and have them pose with specific flags for pride covers but not let them say the words in a comic
my comics hot take is they NEED to get character designers when creating a new character/costume bc no matter how good a lot of current artists are at drawing most of them are simply not good at creating a new look
being a lesbian is so depressing bc you’ll read this and then somehow you’re the crazy one for thinking that she’s a lesbian? and somehow it’s unjustified to be sad when this gets completely ignored and she keeps getting paired up with men with zero buildup?
