- only 100 since the first woman practised law in the UK, and she was from Glasgow.Thanks for opening doors & I hope as I travel through my career I leave them open for other women behind me ❤️
A few months ago we donated loads of my daughter’s old clothes&toys to a person who sends them off to families in need. Today I received a picture of this beautiful girl so happy to have my daughter’s old school bag.Please DM me to donate any clothes or household goods in Glasgow
A big day for the Scottish Criminal Justice System, the day the guidelines for sentencing young people come into force and the day trauma is formally considered by the judge/decision maker - well done Scotland, this is the beginning
I’m happy to share that I was appointed today as Honorary Law agent on the Board at Children 1st
@children1st
really excited to work with the team and make a difference
An extremely traumatised client of mine, cried most appointments with me over the last few months, at the start wouldn’t talk at all and at times couldn’t proceed with meetings as it was too upsetting,was granted asylum today. Reminding me exactly why I do this job. Thank you 🙏🏻
Truly delighted to be a finalist in the category of Solicitor of the Year in the Herald Law Awards. It means so much to me that work done around trauma has been recognised in the legal community ❤️

I’ve been thinking about this guy since last week. I met him during my traineeship in 2008/2009. Both him and his father (and family) were longstanding clients of my boss where I worked at the time. I was working on his case and met him in HMP Greenock. Only a few years older…
Delighted to accept the challenge of obtaining permission for the first private prosecution in Scotland in almost 40 years. We know how many hurdles we will have to overcome but

and I are committed to throwing everything at it

TRAUMA AWARENESS EVENT
We have a very insightful event arranged for Thursday 15th April 4pm, which is centred around the importance of Scottish lawyers being “trauma aware” and how adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) can impact individuals later in life
“Don’t ask why the addiction, ask why the pain. To understand people’s pain, you have to understand their lives. In other words, addiction is a normal response to trauma.” Dr Gabor Mate
Thanks to
@STVNews
for highlighting child trafficking and for the bravery shown by Mo Farrah for sharing his story. I was delighted to contribute to the story on the news this evening
Please read this, the future of the justice system. Great input as always from

. Scottish judges to consider rehabilitation first when sentencing young people
Our wee gang have won a Law Award 🏆. We haven’t invented anything but instead we seek to create compassion in our justice system. This shouldn’t be innovative but totally normal.

I was almost in tears when I left him - scotland - we need to do better. We need to provide support, rehabilitation and counselling to help. A week later and his story is still with me. It felt like I’d gone back 12 years just by being in front of him. Nothing changed 😭
Thanks to
@Sunday_Post
for highlighting the massive change coming into force on 26th January &bringing into focus the new guidelines for sentencing young people that will be a lifesaver for YP & force judges & lawyers to consider rehabilitation as a primary consideration ❤️
Really challenging case lasting 8months that concluded last week. Sad for all parties involved. Visited the client in custody yesterday following sentence on Friday and his opening line ‘i didn’t expect to see you again’ told him that I just wanted to check he was ok

Do we forget the children of persons in prison that these phones have meant a connection to their parent? These phones have been a lifeline for love and relationships during separation - not always a tool for criminality
Serious crimes have been conducted from behind bars as a result of prisoners having access to these phones.
It's beggars belief that the SNP continue to be happy to shell out so much money on this dangerous and discredited scheme, when there are other solutions available.
7 year old demanded I make her beef stew…, google, shopping, chopping, almost burning the house down, 4 hours cooking and it’s almost ready…shame she went to bed 2 hours ago
Just had an old client granted ILR - love the feeling you get when reading the decision letter when you know how much it means to that person. Makes the hard days worth it ❤️
At the End of a busy duty week at Glasgow Sheriff Court, I am again really saddened and confused that vulnerable people with significant difficulties are failed day in and day out. A horrible case from this week highlighted the lack concern that certain medical staff....1/2

Dawn raids are never necessary to ‘enforce’ immigration. In a fair and just society people are allowed rights to obtain legal representation and investigate and challenge decisions. The home office too frequently make massive errors and resort to these underhand tactics
