Something I've noticed after studying hundreds of historical winning trades is that on average, using sell rules such as breaks of the 10 or 20 EMAs along with selling some into strength will most of the time yield 50-65% of what your gain was at the highs.

A secret not many know: Using the 65EMA vs the 50SMA can help avoid shakeouts! $GILD broke out from a small consolidation, and went up 73% until its 1st close below its 65EMA, while it only went up 12% before its 1st close below the 50SMA! @RossHaber_
