I understood it's undertones after many years of its release having liked the movie on first watch. A friend got me thinking about the characters and suddenly I got it. The messaging was so underplayed and below the surface it wasn't as in your face.
@GabbbarSingh
I have a four digit subscriber base and would love to have you on my podcast. Zero entitlement, five min chat to co ordinate, 60 min recorded podcast, zero hassles, meeting link in and out. If you can open your DM we can discuss the details.
@avgavialenjoyer
This is ridiculous the fact that parents dont know how to pass their culture to the next generation doesnt make inter community marriages among Hindus bad. We need to address the root of how to keep kids cultually rooted and grounded rather than discourage this.

Do you want indians to erect the statue of Churchill to commemorate his contributions to the Bengal Famine. There are no limits to this India Phobic mindset.
@cogitoiam
I don't see this as a big deal at all. This comes naturally to all Sanatanis. Sampradayas are not exclusive denominations. They overlap. Sometimes people follow a certain mutt due to lineage and still go to another coz the ishta devta belongs there.
@AlexeiArora
Drop in fertilities without reaching high income status will be a bigger disaster than the one faced by the West and Japan. Its surprising that not many people actually discuss this as a potential issue for the future.
@kushal_mehra
I dont know if we have a way to show that the Tamil people are ok with this or not. All anecdotal evidence suggests that religiosity is high among the Tamils. Probably only higher than rest of the country.

Could you cite proof that every single culture loved it? In Africa tribes enslaved the enemy combatants never their own. In India Shivaji put an end to slavery when Portuguese practiced it rampantly. Where does all this colonial nostalgia coming from?

Wrong it was Narasimha Rao. It was a tumultuous time but by the time of the end of his term around 95-96 we fully came out of it. In 98-99 despite sanctions we weathered a storm. From there on its almost 25 to 27 years of remarkable stability.
@prvkhvr
Rituals have meaning. Philosophy and religion provide a grounding fabric for society even atheists can benefit from in certain respects. The sense of Community and a well defined ethical system is something that it can provide.
@whatifalthist
Religion is defined very differently in the East than West. Eastern religions are not exclusivist and they dont reject the other. They blend in together. You can be a Confucian and a Buddhist or a Hindu and a Jain at the same time.
@CMarrewa
This is the kind of ridiculous theorizing without any base where you talk down to the very people of the living tradition about what their tradition actually is. It's pretty much exactly what was done by you guys with the Pagan faith-fossilize them as a museum piece.
Indic Modernity is not Protestant but Indic Traditionalism sure is Turning Catholic. Lets unravel this perplexing paradox in this thread.

When an identity is only political then it does not amount to anything. Identities need to be backed by an authentic spirituality, philosophy, culture, ritual and social mobilization. Mere politicking for elections leads to nothing beyond hyperbole.
