I have been working with a friend on her college project and man, am I ever going back to javascript? Hell no. 🚫
Javascript code for a big project is so fkin hard to debug man, it took me two hours and 69 console logs to fix a simple typo. 😵💫
Web dev? Use Typescript bros. ✅
Today,
@kirat_tw
posted a video about Neovim.
I have been a Neovim user since the last couple of months. In the video, Kirat talks about Lazyvim.Excited to share that I have configured another popular distro, called LunarVim, and here's my config files:
Who said freelancing se experience ya kuch sikhne ko nahi milta?
I learned so much in the past month that it feels more than what I learnt last year!
Cheers to new learnings and the beautiful community! 🤍💻
Since the last few days, I have received these questions a lot:
"How do I get my first freelance client?"
"How to get started with freelance?"
I have decided to write about my experience and compose a thread for you guys, answering all of the common questions!
Stay tuned! 🫰🏼
I understand that making a chat app as a project for your resume might be very common.
But what if I introduce a lot of other very important features like E2E encryption and a full fledged in-app notification system with smooth small interactions/animations? 🤔
Here's some insights from my first offline hackathon 💻:
1. It's almost always about the idea (uniqueness) than the complexity of the project.
2. Basic fullstack projects won't work.
3. It's always a plus if you are ready with a good presentation of your idea.
Finally applied Geo-location based filtering on my app: Zomaaato. (Clone: Side Project) 🎉
Was stuck, but followed
@tailwiinder
's advice and I kept digging harder.
The project came to halt as I got busy with some client projects and at last, I finally did it. ✅

The last few days have been an incredible learning journey!
Thanks to the amazing folks I met at
@kirat_tw
's cohort, I have received a couple of freelance clients.
I've been getting challenged while doing it and learning new stuff everyday!
Grateful 🫰🏼🤍
Animated this sidebar using framer-motion. 🤍
I know this could be achieved by CSS, but framer-motion is crazyyy good and gives you granular control over animations! 🛸💯
Also, I'm back to coding after a short amount of break! Let's roll 💯
Finally completed my portfolio website's Footer section! 🎉
The Spotify widget on the right shows my currently playing track!
Faced some issues due to Next's strict caching strategies, thanks to
@ohsiingh
for guiding me and making me use "server actions".
How does it look? 👽
So friggin' happy to attend my first 1-100 class for
@kirat_tw
's Cohort 2.0. Been eagerly waiting for 1-100 to start.
Gotta say, the experience is going to be absolutely amazing!!

Successfully built a RAG AI Chatbot with Generative UI
@vercel
for my freelance gig 🚀
1. It uses
@llama_index
to create an index.
2. It stores the embeddings locally.
3. Uses the database schema context to generate an SQL query, sends it back to OpenAI for refining.

@oldboy2011
I got rejected cuz I'm a freelancer, and they were worried that I'll not be able to deliver even when I agreed to work for 12h/day, 6 days a week (their work culture). Asked me how I'd offboard my existing freelance clients. Isn't this too much of an ask?
@x_pixel22
Create a search engine. Seed some data into a Postgres db and try searching from it. Introduce sorting/filtering options and build structured queries using whatever ORM db provider you're using. Don't do the sort/filters on the frontend.

Key to start freelancing!
1. Give it a try, see if that's something for you.
2. Once you get the hang of it, it's amazing! I'm learning a lot of stuff just by working for clients!
@mk_gupta_here_7
@wojakcodes
Tech is always evolving, so you'll never feel completely ready. The key is to start. I did, and learned a lot while working for clients.

Finally migrated to

from Nextauth v5 for our project AI Roadmap Generator. 😊
The migration wasn't that difficult but syncing users from Clerk's db to our own db was a P in the A. 🤐
But anyways, production is live again, so I'm happy 😃

This is actually the realest tweet out there.✅
I suffer a lot from imposter syndrome and perfectionism when it comes to applying to jobs/internships.
When I deeply think about it, there's actually no other solution to this rather than continuing to code religiously.
(1/N)
You don't have time to ponder over strategizing anymore. Just keep coding, get into the market somehow, and think about upgrading from there.
Stop wasting time worrying if your approach is right or wrong. You'll never reach a conclusion.

There's definitely stuff to learn in the cohort, you wouldn't be spoonfed everything, but Kirat tries his best to convey the knowledge to nudge you in the right direction.
1. Structured learning
2. Amazing af community. (This is a huge plus for me)
So I'd say go for it!
I can write a lot of great things about myself, list amazing projects on my resume, make an amazing portfolio but it can all turn out to be fake. You never know!
My question is how do you distinguish between the shown "skills" and the actual skills of a person?

I'm looking for design inspirations for any new interaction/animation that I can create from scratch! 😄
Also looking for a coding buddy who is as interested in interactions as I am! Lmk you guys! 🤍

I massively respect the stuff that you're doing! Kudos 🫰🏼
Thank you for all the submissions.
We reviewed all of them, most of them weren't working as expected. We are still reviewing the code to assess the submissions further.
I'm sorry it took a bit of time to inform you guys about the proceedings, it's because
While everyone's sleeping, I had an amazing learning night. 💯
Learnt about all things Redis, from implementing stacks and queues to pub-subs. All at once. ✅
Funny thing, apparently Redis has some basic geo-spatial searching API which I didn't have any idea about. 🤯

Just learnt and used GitHub Actions to create a CI/CD pipeline to deploy our project to our VPS. 💻

Does NextJS and Socket IO have a love/hate relationship?
Sometimes it works flawlessly, sometimes it doesn't work at all, sometimes it does work but with some quirks 😕🥹
Facing random issues appearing out of nowhere since the last couple of days, y'all save me. 💊

I don't know DSA at all.
I plan on starting to learn it.
Suggest me some good resources in the comments and lemme know if someone wants to study together 👀👽

I am actually very excited to start the DSA journey with these wonderful peeps! 🤍🫰🏼

This is such a gem of an advice. It's been a few days since I've been monitoring interns in my friend's startup where I'm a part of the core dev team. 💻
It really feels amazing to watch them learn new things and solidify my own concepts as well, as we go through the process. ✨
If you're still in college, you should really consider interning at an early stage startup for a few months. It's a life-changing experience. You'll come out of it fairly leveled-up in multiple skillsets.
In the end, you'll understand exactly how tech companies make money,
Broskis and Siskis 👀
Suggest me some good project ideas to work on! Already working on a few but wanna start something new! 🫰🏼
One of the projects that I am currently working on: Zomato Clone 🍔🍕
Lemme know what projects you guys are working on! 👇🏼
The function finds out all the points (Restaurants) in my db within the given radius, the query is optimised by calculating the bounding box and constraining the search universe.

It's a full-fledged search-engine like system with different sort/filter options.

Just launched and people have started searching for stuff! ✅
Right now we're working on filtering search queries more efficiently to prevent users from searching virtually "anything" they want but oh am I loving the search terms lmfao! 🤣🤣
Also daddy got credits 👀🤣🤣
4. OpenAI returns a refined query which is called and it fetches desired data from DB.
5. Here comes the fun part, all of this logic gets called inside a tool in the streamUI function from
@vercel
ai/rsc. Absolutely amazing shit.
6. Returns the desired UI. (Lfgggg 🚀)

My productivity is at its lowest in winters. So I don’t stress about it anymore, just enjoy life with family and read books.
Knowing yourself is the best thing you can do. Don’t fall into endless productivity traps. You are productive on some days and some days you are not. ☕️
