@teodor_io A weird assumption which most people don't think of: the prisoners have to have perfect knowledge of each other's behavior. Without it, two prisoners try to leave at the same time, and with >0 probability each one believes they will be the 2nd. So they try to escape.

@foresteagle45 I don't think Jews are indigenous to Israel because "indigeneity" isn't well-defined. What matters to me is the basic fact that in 1947, most Jews in Palestine had recently arrived from Europe, whereas most Arabs had lived in the area for generations. I don't care about 73AD.

@Nexuist It's this sort of radically positive thinking that first led the 12 tribes of Israel to put aside their differences & invade the land of Canaan -- an inspiring story about how if you work together, you too can put your enemies to the sword and haul their daughters off as booty.

@jonathanchait Really? Seems like a list of breezy put-downs & guilt-by-association without much substance to me. E.g, he dings Hanania for calling conscientiousness "highly heritable" & suggests this is only believed by cranks. But when I research, I find conscientiousness is 40-50% heritable.

@drbabe_ @WeeboJones @Billem_DaFoe "You never see a man…" “You never see a woman…” Anyone who talks in absolutes like this is pushing a fairytale version of the world. Some percentage of men AND women who treat their partners well are not treated well in return. Life has all sorts of stories.

@saviorshoney @carmguti What does "maintains and enforces its network rules" actually look like? Are you saying that Visa basically audits & approves of each bank's card issuing guidelines, dispute resolution procedures, and so on?

@gigameth @teodor_io Ooh this is good. Requires the prisoners to know each other's heights but this is more plausible than them knowing exactly when each will leave.
