Eastern Catholic. No salvation outside Catholic faith. Believe the Tridentine Creed & Professio Fidei of St. JP2.
Pope Francis is 265th successor of St. Peter.
There is still absolutely no salvation outside of the Catholic faith. Not at all. Not your Protestant friend. Not your EO relative.
cf. Athanasian Creed
cf. Tridentine Creed Β§14
One was a faithful Catholic obedient to the Pope, accepted Vatican 2, attended Mass of St. Paul VI, and is now in Heaven.
Another was a rebel who rejected Vatican 2 and NO, called the Pope antichrist, and died excommunicated without reconciling with Rome.
Which way, Catholics?
Catholics should not use foul language. The speech of disciples of Christ shouldn't be similar to the speech of the damned in hell.
Cussing is not tough, manly or cool. It is ugly and repulsive.
Woe is me ...because I am a man of unclean lips
Isaiah 6, 5
Problems with SSPX
1. Illicit Mass.
2. Lax approach to jurisdiction. "supplied jurisdiction" seems to be magic phrase to fix everything.
3. Instructing people to skip Mass on Sunday if they only have NO available. That's mortal sin.
4. Denial or doubt of new canonizations.
Imagine a wife telling her husband: "if I were to ever betray you and cheat on you, I'd go to Mike across the street, not to Jake next door".
Her husband would be gravely insulted and disturbed by detailedness of her plans.
And people think this doesn't offend God?
@faithwillsaveu
Liberius was coerced into excommunicating Athanasius.
St. Athanasius remained faithful to the Holy See, never criticized papal supremacy, was not a sola-scripturaist, and prayed to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The Supreme Pontiff has authority over the Liturgy of the Church.
Here's St. Alfonsus Liguori commenting on Trent, confirming that the Church and therefore her Pontiffs have such power.
What if you need to ascend to the guillotine to give your life for Christ, but you don't know Veni Creator Spiritus by heart?
We should learn some good hymns in advance, just in case.
Today was my first time as a Catholic in the Basilica of Saint Peter.
So many great Saints, Apostles, Pontiffs and Doctors of the Church! It is overwhelming.
@GratiaIesus
Technically, all who are validly baptized are our brethren in Christ. This is not a new invention either, St. Augustine calls heretics and schismatics brethren in Christ.
@SanctusAndreas_
William Lane Craig debates and C.S. Lewis books were helpful for me to stop viewing atheism as an intellectually superior position and to eventually become a Catholic.
@LanguageGeek95
Per St. Thomas, heavenly bodies rotate around the Earth to support its environment and ultimately to support procreation of mankind on Earth.
@catholiccom
Nonsense. Tridentine Creed, p. 4, obliges all Catholics to interpret those verses according to the consensus of the Church Fathers. Which is: Judas is in hell.
Also it's not a funny topic, why laugh about it?
When liberal Catholics argue that NFP is basically the same thing as artificial contraception, why do they think the conclusion is "contraception is okay" rather than "NFP is also sinful"?
Unfortunately, too many Catholics mistakenly think using obscene words is just fine. Here is a short sermon by Rev. Schouppe against this error.
Avoid impure speech, and avoid reposting impure content.

"The Israelites had in the Kingdom of Judah a title called "Gebirah" which can be translated to Queen Mother. The mother of the Jewish Monarch was given high rank and status among the Israelites."

Seems like an attempt to deflect by changing the focus to the girl.
Did the Bishop instruct the girls to dress modestly?
Did he deny communion to those who are not dressed modestly?
@Scholastic_X
Not really. We know that St. Carlo is in Heaven by the virtue of his papal canonization, which will happen soon.
As for Lefebvre, he died in rebellion against the See of St. Peter, under excommunication. Unless he repented of his schism before he died, he is very likely in hell.
@Michael_J_Matt
Publicly insulting the Pope, calling for his arrest, calling the Church βBergoglian sectβ, then playing victim when facing charges of schism.
@regan_reganomic
One can't both accept the New Mass and reject it.
One can't both accept the Vatican II and reject it.
One can't both obey the Pope and call him antichrist.
One needs to choose.
Catholics cannot and should not doubt that Pope Francis has the Catholic faith:
"This gift of truth and never-failing faith was therefore divinely conferred on Peter and his successors"
First Vatican Council

"Saint Augustine was a lifelong adulterer"
Not so.
Wouldn't be a Saint if he were lifelong adulterer.
lifelong: lasting or remaining in a particular state throughout a person's life.

Ask her to pray Rosary with you daily.
If she won't agree to pray 5 decades, start with 1 decade.
If she won't agree 1 decade, start with 3 Hail Marys, but daily.
Once she is in regular habit of praying to Our Lady, her heart will be gradually converted.
@DavidRobertGor1
Gives it a nod? In HG 36, Ven. Pius XII carefully permits the investigation and discussion of the evolution to a narrow group of the experts.
He then immediately proceeds to condemn those who claim that evolution is true and certain.
...we need to be careful about what we say or think about the Holy Father, because the 4th commandment applies here, and sometimes people don't recognize that.
Just like it applies to your physical dad, it applies to the Holy Father. We have to honor him.
When people complain about the supposed cruelty of Inquisition towards Galileo, it is good to remind that this is the villa where Galileo lived in peace till his natural death at the age of 77.
An EO priest gives good argument against EOs who dismiss St. Augustine. The doctrine of St. Augustine is confirmed by 5th Ecumenical Council.
May St. Augustine lead him to the Catholic Church.

No, Your Excellency. As the document of CDF states, the use of these vaccines is a material cooperation in the horrible sin of abortion, and there is a moral duty to avoid such cooperation.
Please also read the statement of Bishop Schneider on vaccines.
To the left is Photios of Constantinople. He started a schism.
To the right is Marcel Lefebvre. He also started a schism.
One of these reconciled with Rome before his death. It was Photios. Lefebvre never reconciled with Rome.

It's just art (although bad art, IMO). Maybe we should remove Michaelangelo's sculptures from the Vatican because some of then promote nudity?
Puritanism ain't Catholicism.
Faithful Catholics should not be telling heretics to leave the Church and join Episcopalians (or some other sects).
I understand the anger, but the call should be to repent and to reconcile with the Church.
Counselling or commanding someone to sin is itself a sin.

As a Catholic, you have a grave obligation to oppose legal abortions.
Read Evangelium Vitae Β§73, stop supporting legal abortions and go to confession.

If so, that's a very silly excuse, which could have been resolved by a 5 minute talk with a priest if that was a real reason of concern.
I have absolutely zero patience for ppl who say, βMother Teresa was a terrible person.β
Itβs predicated upon the distortions of Christopher Hitchens & said by ppl who are thrilled for the excuse.
She was a saint β by any standards.

Catholic tradition involves obeying the Pope and accepting the Ecumenical Councils approved by the Pope.
If you don't do that, you can't claim tradition.
@Jolz_Aust
Nope. My childhood priest was an old-school Irishman who often used colorful language at social parish events - especially when alcohol was involved. As did most of my older catholic relatives.
We arenβt puritans.
Those who deny Filioque cannot be saved.
The Church knew this even before the canon of the Scripture was defined.
"The Holy Ghost is of the Father and of the Son; ...proceeding. He therefore that will be saved, let him thus think of the Trinity."
The Athanasian Creed, ~340 A.D.

"the marriage isn't valid unless you consummate the marriage"
Sorry, this is not correct.
Valid non-consummated marriages do exist.

This doesn't make any sense. You acknowledge that Jesus is God incarnate, and that Mary is mother of Jesus.
Therefore Mary is the mother of God.
It's both orthodox and biblical (Lk. 1, 43).
Denying this fact, on the other hand, is the heresy of Nestorianism.
The adherents of Lefebvre are in massive denial about his schism:
"Lefebvre ...has performed a schismatical ...and has therefore incurred the penalty envisaged by Canon 1364, p. 1"
Can. 1364β Β§ 1. ...a schismatic incurs a latae sententiae excommunication

Yes, faithful Catholics actually rejoice at the repeal of RvW, and pray for abortions to be banned in the whole world.
Those "Catholics" who claim to be "pro-choice" are in grave opposition to the Catholic doctrine, and so they lack the Catholic faith.
"the Sovereign Pontiff alone enjoys the right to recognize and establish any practice touching the worship of God, to introduce and approve new rites, as also to modify those he judges to require modification."

"all the gods of the Gentiles are devils"
Ps. 95, 5
All pagan gods are devils, and they are in hell for all eternity.
Repent and believe in the Gospel, or you will spend your eternity with them in hell.

The scary thing is that none of us are immune from this. That's why St. Philip Neri prayed:
"Watch me, O Lord, this day; for, abandoned to myself, I shall surely betray thee."
Some Catholics will gladly agree with the warning about the dangers of obscene speech to the souls.
Other Catholics will insist on their right to impure speech, and will fight for it tooth and nail.
That's a good filter.
