@awastea to shed some light,JEE usually filters for students who are quite smart but view studying as a grind. Most just want a job and don't care about the college experience. Compare that to American Unis, where they filter for people who are smart *and* passionate about what they do.

@sw_rajput_dev It's more about the mindset than the rank, everything else comes naturally. Too many people not in top 1000 who go on to do amazing stuff. And also some in top 100 end up making careers in quant, investment banking etc. 🤢

The way India treats her scientists is insane. These are easily fixable, artificial barriers to scientific progress. Government shouldn't utter a single word about brain drain until they can *ensure* their scientists are treated with respect and their basic needs are met.

One of the big myths about Indians is that we value education. This is simply not true: no education of any kind is respected. IITs/IIMs/medical schools have a measure of prestige because of their students' salaries. The money is respected, the learning is irrelevant.

@CL2700 Yep,in reality, many bankers do make bank despite selling their soul, MBAs will be bosses of engineers in most corps and thus earn more. The movie reflected that truthfully. The point the movie was making is: Make decisions based on yourself, not society, find happiness & beauty.

also worth mentioning that the computer culture really sucks in India -- everyone is introduced too late to programming (many friends started in college) and most view it only as gateways for good jobs. Hope this changes with programming being taught to kids in India.
