Hello
@astiunion
please tread carefully before agreeing to any new measures implemented by the DES in light of the current situation. Reminder that your duty is to represent your members aka & not the views of the second level students. Members have grave concerns regarding this
Wishing my post primary teaching colleagues an enjoyable and safe summer ahead: huge congrats on keeping schools opened this and last year & best wishes for the summer ahead!
My friend rang me today and recited stories from his days in primary school...we laughed as he regaled tales in the ‘my news’ segments of his copies...who remembers when you told the teacher everything & s/he wrote it on blackboard & you copied it down...
@Ire201261
@Colmogorman
@IrishTimes
The person that you’ve referred to as ‘that’ is Colm O’Gorman, a man of integrity, bravery & compassion for others. He’s a man that showed more love in the last few years to the people of Ire than the Catholic Church has in centuries. ‘That’ man would be an excellent President
@_tjreid
Sure why open them, when we have McDonalds open? FFS imagining opening up a centre for fast food rather than a playing field? The mind boggles sometimes....
@tracietobin
Where do the LCA students feature in these headlines? Oh they don’t….it’s always saddening to see the cohort of students sitting the LCA programme being ignored and not acknowledged in results on an annual basis…
I’ve been marking exams every day in July and it has rained for every single one of those days….😫thankfully the work is complete so bring on the sunshine ☀️ for the rest of the holidays….

This is a handout country... put the hands out and take everything. God forbid people had to buy masks to protect themselves...imagine their Govt asking them to take care of themselves...oh the audacity 🤬
Today was just a perfect example of how collaboration, creativity & colleagiality can make a workplace so enjoyable…it was the perfect end to such a body term! I’m still laughing…wishing all my teaching comrades a lovely midterm!
Sometimes I wish I was a business teacher. This organisation offers so much support, guidance & professional development to all its members & potential business/economics/accounting teachers! One word - amazing!!
Save the date...

Ag breathnú ar

agus í ag caint go hoscailte faoin bpian gránna a bhaineann le leanbh a chailliúint. Mná cróga iad go léir ag labhairt ar an ábhar seo.
The last few days have just been lovely, people have been so kind & thoughtful with their wishes as I embrace a new decade tomorrow…thanks to everyone for taking the time to wish me well

To be clear, I am not at breaking point. I am past it. I have been out of school for the last 3 weeks, unable to cope with the weight of my job.
Also 2b clear, I got great support* from

agus mé ar thuras foghlama nua! Tá bunú an GhaelAonaid ar cheann de na buaicphointí is ceannródaíche sa tír seo!
@DonnachaMaguire
You’re having a laugh there Donnacha. It’s been a while since you eve been in a classroom and obviously not during this pandemic. I suggest you step back into the teaching environment before you judge us teachers for wanting safety for out students & colleagues.
You were amazing on
@bbcstrictly
@Mr_NJones
& I keep hoping that you'll get your own celebrity to dance with in for 2018. Merry Xmas and Happy 2018 to you &
@Mrs_katjones
@oconnellhugh
Low blow there in my opinion. Prefer him to be aware of the doc rather than bluffing. I’ve no issue with him checking data. Do you always get it right?
Merry Xmas. Shoutout to all the firemen, gardaí, doctors, nurses, paramedics, coast guards etc all on duty today whilst we are with our families. Please remember this
@campaignforleo
before you send some smug Happy Xmas tweet/video message to the nation
And so it begins very soon….marcáil na hArdteiste 2024….looking forward to catching up with my fellow colleagues for chats, discussions and debates over marks, grades etc…🖍️💯😍
Back to work this week & what a lovely experience it was catching up with colleagues after the summer siesta…exciting times ahead full of CPD & professional learning opportunities!
Does it mean we are expected to teach right up until exams? Marking of the Junior Cycle by teachers, is that the sneaky way by which the DES gets us to assess our own students, this & every other year? Bear in mind also that we’ve been providing learning from home up until Easter
Thanks to
@patriciamannixm
for a phenomenal session today! Full of knowledge and a PhD in great humour! Loved the presentation and the interaction with fellow
@oide_Ireland
colleagues!
Students studying the Leaving Cert Applied (LCA) at a Dublin school explain why the programme was the best choice for them. The LCA prepares students for adult and working life with an emphasis on continuous assessment. This is the final in our series looking at the

Daniel, passing judgement here? Who decided to give you the powers to reign almighty and lord over us? Please look at both sides before you present us with the Gospel according to you. Thanks
So proud of my colleague & friend Jacinta who has been truly inspiring, wonderful and so focused in her role as Advisor & Professional Learning Leader over the last two years. A lady to the core and a legend all over! It’s been a pleasure Jacinta and my god you’ve left your mark!
Quick question: if a child of a teacher shows symptoms of Covid19....what’s the sick leave options available to that teacher? I’ve been asked this by my colleagues & being honest I’m not sure...

@emma_okelly
Lovely day for potting a few bulbs….planted aliums, daffodils & tulips today which should make for a bright colourful display in the patio during the spring months! It’s the small things that help with headspace during the dark dreary days of winter….
My last few hours to soak up the rays & unwind in heat and bliss of the Tanzanian coastline. Zanzibar you’ve been a blast, you’ve stolen my ❤️ & you’re easily my most cherished destination. 💯🇹🇿😍
Two weeks of bliss, sunshine and silence in Bali and I am feeling energized and refreshed! Wasn’t in a great space prior to the holiday, the break has done me the world of good x
Love this idea! Such a simple way of showing respect to all cultures & what a lovely way to brighten up the walls of the building. I’ve seen this in other schools & it always catches my eye! Kudos
@EnnisCC
Well done to Mr Murphy and his team who are lining our corridor with the national flags of the counties that are students come from. There are 58 flags on the corridor!
I’m so saddened by the events of the weekend. As the names and imagery shed light on the lives lost & the communities shattered by this trade by, I can’t stop thinking of the victims and their families. May each and everyone of the 10 rest in peace x
So proud of my friend Jacinta- fabulous colleague in
@oide_Ireland
and now starting out as Principal of a Special school in Kerry! Looking forward to continuing our friendship, having more professional chats & the odd giggle too!
Leaving Cert results are out tnrw! Hope the media focus in on students getting results of Leaving Cert applied as well as the Leaving Cert established! Smaller cohort of students with just as significant results!
This lady
@Achill68

Hello
