I started advocating for accessible epinephrine in schools after a child in my district died from a peanut allergy while at school. In 2012, Gov McDonnell signed the bill. Today I saw this in a @k12albemarle middle school, right outside the gym, accessible even on weekends. 🙌🙌

At the end of last school year, the combined student cafeteria debt at my school was well over $10,000. I was told the underpaid & overworked food service staff were expected to contact families about that debt…which is ridiculous. Albemarle Co Schools need to get this right.

“Children belong to parents.” No. Children are cared for, provided for, and supported by their grown-up caregivers. They are, in fact, individual human beings, deserving of respect outside of their relationship to the adults in their lives.

I just issued an AG Opinion that confirms the @GovernorVA ’s model policy complies with federal law, and school boards should adopt them. Children belong to parents, not government, and the law supports this. #ParentsMatter
