Today I've learned the remarkable tale of Bradfordian Emma Sharp – the first woman to walk 1000 miles in 1000 hours. Apparently blokes were so outraged by her audacity ('Pedestrianism' was a properly manly pursuit in 1864) that there were attempts to drug Emma and trip her up.

Efforts to clean up Ivegate once and for all continue! Me and @jonnybantam72 have been pushing for ages to get the bin corral - which was becoming a magnet for fly-tippers removed. Now it’s gone. Bins will be returned to businesses and the Ivegate arch will be spruced up.

From Monday 12 December the half-hourly Northern Rail services between Forster Square and Skipton/Ilkley will be reinstated back to normal. Good news for passengers affected by the previous inconvenient and unnecessary cuts 👍

I would like our city council to outlaw permitted development in Bradford. In 2020, we should not be allowing our most vulnerable citizens to be housed in these hovels.

Introducing the latest 'Permitted Development' flats for Little Germany, Bradford: Olicana House. Many of these flats fall far short of the UK minimum space standards (37m²) that will be required from April 2021. This is a disgrace.

The start of canal road can be quite lovely if we want it to be. I see a future for this site that doesn’t involve metal gates, car parks or ugly shopping sheds. Let’s take it back from private ownership and create a vast public space worthy of a City of Culture. 🌳🌴⛲️🎡🌷
