Found my father's BSc Mathematics books which are more than 50 years old (1972-75)
Completely yellowed but still lush with notes and in an amazing condition - no eBooks and iPad notes can beat this feeling of preservation.
After 25 years of living in India, I finally got to see the Taj Mahal albeit at 12 noon on a 45°C heatwave day.
And it is every bit as beautiful as I people describe it
Finally took the call.
Last few months were so heartwarming in India - stayed with my family, met so many of my friends after a terribly long time, had the best food of all kinds, and spent hours at my favourite spots in Delhi
It's a goodbye for now, for a long while.
Apartment hunting is annoyingly frustrating as a bachelor.
And at a broader level, living alone is just so expensive by design that it feels our society is structurally antagonistic towards single and solo-living people
3 months into it and a 1000 dry exchanges later, I'm absolutely done with every iota of small talk for the rest of my life. Half of this is so meaningless and predictable as if you're talking to a bot.
Either this platform is flawed by design or I am 😭
The most beautiful library I have ever seen!
Honestly, it is so mesmerizing that I could never be productive here.
📍Bibliothèque Nationale de France - Richelieu, Paris
Never ever forget. And never ever forgive Congress.
For decades they looted people’s money, weakened India’s security and mocked our culture. NO LONGER!
It is very comfortable to be well off in a deeply unequal country.
Please look beyond your privileges, and vote wisely for leaders who have the courage to face public scrutiny.
Anyone who believed the exit polls from yesterday (and the market reaction), should take a step out of their bubbles and actually talk to people beyond their social circles.
No surprise seeing people flip out as if they actually believed in all the 400+ (or even 350+) rhetoric.
Every year when the UPSC CSE results are announced, there is such an invisible yet palpable pressure from all sides of my family for me to take the exam. There has been no conversation in the last two days without a subtle, backhand jab towards it.
More than 70 productions a year, and never the same show on two consecutive nights.
Also has the record for the world's LONGEST standing ovation received at 1 HOUR 20 MINUTES, for Otello in 1991
📍Vienna State Opera House
When I took the subway in Paris for the first time, I was super confused and bumped into this guy.
He swore at me in French, and when he realized I didn't understand, swore at me again in English
MBA 59th batch Convocation day at IIM Calcutta!
Big thank you to my parents, friends, batchmates, faculty, and the institution staff for making the last two years worth all the effort! It's been a fantastic journey ❤️
Decided to meet a friend at Juggernaut in Delhi and we both ended up reaching different branches in CP and GK😭😂
Strictly based on this chat context, please tell me that CP was the correct one
I'm looking to giveaway CAT prep material (TIME books and handouts + notes, c2020, super fresh) to anyone who needs it.
You'd just have to collect it from me in North Delhi 🙏🏻
our second indian twitter meetup was a picnic in the park 🇮🇳🇬🇧 as one should when the fleeting london sun’s finally out 🧺
appreciate everyone who turned up ✨
might organise another meetup next month so stay tuned 🙂
Anyone who likes to do as little as possible can hit me up and I will make you walk 20km a day to see every possible scenic spot in the destination city
There are two types of vacationers - the one who wants to do as much as possible and the one who wants to do as little as possible. They are usually married to each other.
I love it when someone asks me which film I've seen the most number of times, and I say Baghban and they just understand why without a word of explanation
A simple hack to understand someone's opinion about women - just ask what does your mom do?
Especially if she's a homemaker, seeing how they describe her work tells a lot about how they perceive women
An interesting lore about the Dainthlen Falls in Cherrapunji -
In the Khasi culture, Thlen was an evil, shapeshifting serpent that terrorised the locals, until they managed to capture it, hack it to pieces, and eat it here.
Thus, Dainthlen translates to "where Thlen was cut".
TIL there's nothing Bengali about the Bengali market in Delhi.
It is apparently named after a gentleman whose name was ‘Bengali’ but was not actually from Bengal!
📍 The Tulip Staircase
This wrought iron structure was the first geometric self-supporting spiral stair in Britain (meaning each tread is cantilevered from the wall and supported by the stair below rather than being supported by a central pillar)
Having to delete 9 years of pictures, videos and memories has by far been the most heart wrenching experience of unloving someone. Nobody prepares you for it.
Guys get into IIM Bangalore and make 3 idiots their whole personality.
I haven't met a single person from there who doesn't have an unhealthy obsession (and pride) for a film based on the misery of studying engineering.
It wasn't round but it was definitely edible 🙏🏻
Greater appreciation for my hostel mess workers who made hundreds of these daily, only to be cursed at by students how the mess food sucks 😔
One way to tell an engineering college apart from the others is to just look at its hostel walls, and you will find the most random gyaan in the world + profanity.
This one is DTU btw.
I love it when I learn about something through a completely unrelated reference but don't fully understand it, and then stumble upon the original information years later and suddenly it all makes sense in an epiphany
Found this 2017 Mood Indigo booklet while cleaning.
This was my first time visiting Bombay and I've so many amazing memories from this week - great events, new friends, lovely campus.
All the Delhi college fests are on one side, but MoodI was totally a different vibe!
In a country where most cities have at least two names, Varanasi has over a hundred.
It's a place where all contradictions coexist - the city of both life and death, faith and fear, of sacred Gods and ungodly pollution, and the epicentre of karma.
It's kinda saddening that despite everything I've done in life so far, I've never seen my family be proud of any of it - just because I chose to not pursue this one exam.
"ye sab theek hai, but UPSC kab de rahe ho?" idk man i just don't want to.
Please suggest some niche, speciality museums/exhibitions/galleries in Delhi that I might not have been to (as I've covered all the major ones by now). Thanks!

As I child I really wanted to collect and preserve all the books I have ever read - including all course material and notebooks since kindergarten, and I did it until last year.
And then termites ate away everything :(
Situationship? Benching? Breadcrumbing? Cushioning? Freckling? Groundhogging? Love Bombing? Pocketing? Cuffing? Zombieing? Curving? Stone walling? Yeh sab toh nahi hoga. Shadi karni hai toh batao.
Just found out that I have maxed out on the number my Instagram highlights and the older ones have started disappearing!
I never even realised that I've accumulated a 100 highlights wtf!? 😭
BLR folks - I am visiting the city for the first time this weekend! Is there anything I MUST do that you would recommend, apart from the touristy stuff?
People who've permanently moved out of India recently - How would you best suggest spending the last few weeks here? What are some things one should savour to the fullest that will be sorely missed soon?
Ever found yourself flipping back pages from the bookmarked one, to recap what is happening even then, you don’t remember reading those last few pages?
That's why I stopped using bookmarks altogether.
It just ends up being a pretty invitation to forget what you’ve read.
Me trying to maintain the 10 notion pages I built from scratch and still giving up, because I would rather get the stuff done than spend time fancily logging it in.
Saw this top notch, well written, one-act romantic thriller play at Kamani but more importantly, also learnt that Anup Soni does something other than Crime Patrol
Why does it need to be put on a scale at all?
Every degree offers you a unique value prop and a distinct college life. If you get what you want out of that, you're good.
I can see no objectivity in this except that residential universities are obviously better than non res ones
College life of:
IIM student>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> literally any other college
P.S. Not exaggerating
Pretty campuses, so many extra curriculars, single rooms, co-living hostels, daily 🍻, and what not....!!
