@Akshat_World Unfortunate but changing times. The incoming workforce (ppl in their 20s, early 30s) should expect 2-3 layoffs throughout their career. The focus should move from regret to preparation (mentally & financially). I might have made this sound easy, it isn't!

@Akshat_World I've spoken to dozens esp. conservative FD-type investors .. and the one area they aren't differentiating well is -- what is risk? what is volatility? In financial terms, risk means permanent loss (a reduction in capital) while volatility is the variation in returns over time.

@Akshat_World These are many questions bundled into one note, Akshat. Let me try to break this down: 1. Why to pay capital gain tax on the principal after it has already been taxed? [A] Capital is finite and accretive in nature. Start from the beginning of time. Someone started with 1 rupee

@Akshat_World The point on taxes is spot on. For instance: ► PPF is 8% post tax. Assuming a 30% tax slab, this comes to 8%/(1-30%) = 11.4% ► Nifty 50 is 12% pre tax. At 10% LTCG, this comes to 12%*(1-10%) = 10.8% For the record: I'll still put most of my money on equities because it's 12%
