Wow, what a week D-Day 80 was. Monty’s Rolls from the @RLCMuseum completed her tour of Normandy events driven by Richard Hammond and is now having a well deserved rest (as am I!). She was adored by all, including veterans, Monty’s grandson and Eisenhower’s granddaughter.

Mixed review of the Napoleon Exhibition in Paris. Fantastic to see some of the famous paintings all in one place, and I spent too long in front of N at Arcole 😇. Some acknowledgement of the propaganda in the images, but scope for a deeper dive in an exhibition dedicated to N. /1

Honoured to meet this legendary Sapper last year. Following capture at Tobruk John escaped an Italian POW camp and walked from Ancona to Bari. Captured again at Arnhem John used his experience to get himself and three others on a stolen row boat to Nijmegan! Happy birthday, John!

Little kitty Joseph got neutered today. He got an eye ulcer as a reaction to the anaesthetic. As the vet handed me his drops she said “you’re going to need two people to administer them” and single-cat-lady Sam hasn’t felt so single-shamed since building flat packed furniture 🤦🏻‍♀️

Bare hands provide us with a much better understanding of how fragile the item is. Gloves can be clumsy, catch on items & are harder to keep clean. Thoroughly cleaned & dry hands are best practice & glove usage has long been discouraged in the majority of the UK’s archives. 3/3
